"I hear you fought well beside my companion in arms. The four of you did a fine thing today." "You heard correct, I did fight well." It gave Balon great satisfaction to know it was him, and not Roland that helped save the day. He tempered his answer with, "And thank you." He nodded to Addam, "However, all credit is due to Ser Addam for locating the sellswords."
A pity you and Titus couldn't be there but you were playing pretend combat while real men fought and killed. Balon didn't ask what had made Addam laugh figuring his new friend would tell him later.

He nodded in acknowledgement of Balon's words.
"There is enough credit for all of you here."
Roland pulled up a seat to speak with Ser Addam.
"Do not laugh too hard - we cannot have the champion of the day breaking a rib and denying the maidens his presence at the dance," he smiled. There was no mention yet of the allegations against Ser Daeron, as Roland had yet to confront his brother in arms on the matter, nor did he wish to sour Addam's moment of triumph.
"My own tilts went well indeed, but were meager stuff compared to your heroics. Sadly Ser Daeron fell, but I doubt even he would have expected to make it so far."
"The other chief disappointment was a personal one. I had hoped to best my bastard brother in the quarter-finals, but he was overthrown by Lord Redwyne. The Redwyne family seems to be mad up entirely of peerless jousters."
Such could once be said of House Cordwayner, until the Warrior's blessing skipped his lord brother. Perhaps it would have been kinder if the second son had been meek, free to become a maester or septon, but the Seven sent trials as frequently as blessings.
"The quarterfinals shall be tough to prevail in. A man must know his limitations, and while I have oft taken the victor's crown I have not done so in the quality of company I am likely to meet from here. Ser Donnel Blackbriar has already overthrown both Prince Baelor himself as well as Ser Aerion Baratheon. The old warhorse still has some tricks, despite his earlier tumble."
