The entire day Daeron had been in a foul mood. While not known for being the most charming person in the Reach, his mood the entire day made him seem like a second Bittersteel. Nothing but scowls and grunts had come from his mouth. He felt guilty for so easily accepting the hooded man's bribe the previous evening and upon hearing that Lord Florent's son had been kidnapped and Lord Rowan's son had been murdered he felt even more guilty. So much guilt in fact that he declined to join in the search for Ser Aladore and to take out his frustrations on whoever he was up against in the joust. Seeing Ser Lyonel across the way he offers no salute to him or even Lady Shiera Woodwright. He just silently lowered his helm and charged forward with all of his fury. Ser Lyonel Baratheon is in a much better mood before the fighting, the young heir to Storm's End is a physically impressive specimen like so many of his House. Well acquainted with Ser Daeron's jousting style as just about anyone with their wits about them would be by now, he opts for a low and defensive posture. Can't hit 17 with perfect rolls. Daeron is down.
Daeron tumbles to the ground, not an unfamiliar sensation, but he misses the familiar second thud of his opponent. Getting to his feet to grab his sword out of instinct he sees that Ser Lyonel is still seated comfortably in his horse. In an uncharacteristic show of bad sportsmanship, he throws the shattered handle of his lance to the ground before stalking off the fields, pondering if the bribe even covered his ransom.
