(during/immediately after the Tourney Reactions thread)
Ashara saw what the false knights Otho and Balon had done, and knew that the time had come to declare sides - unlike her cousin, she did not particularly care if her words might undermine her future husband. If the marriage is unavoidable, Ashara would do everything in her power to ensure that it was her voice, not Lady Maegelle's, that came out of Ser Quentin's mouth. Sad to say perhaps, but one raised as such a puppet would only flounder if forced to think for himself suddenly. If she couldn't have a husband worthy of her (if such existed any more than grumkins and snarks), she would make sure that the husband forced upon her would at least be useful to her.
In the meantime however, there were bigger fish to fry... or at least bull-headed and horse-brained false knights to fry. She was no knight to issue a challenge or 'prove' a crime by force of arms - but that did not mean that she should sit by passively. Septons might preach that a woman's place was to sit down and shut up and let the men do the talking, but she could read the Seven-Pointed Star too - and it is the Crone that provides wisdom and guides others to hidden truths. If the Father judges in ignorance or the Warrior fights the wrong foe, problems will abound. Men who ignore women face the same fate.
Making the rounds of the stands, she spreads the word: today's joust reveals truths - Blood supporters triumphed over their foes in chivalrous manner, but Fire supporters make a mockery of chivalry and Andal traditions by obeying the letter but not the spirit of the rules, or even outright cheating. Shameful, insulting to the tourney hosts House Tyrell, and vile in the eyes of the Seven. Hate, greed, and ambition are ugly motivations and the lead to the Seven Hells, regardless of how pious and chivalrous these false knights may pretend to be.
While she does so, she keeps her ears open for any other rumors of interest.
