It was late in the day, so House Starling's motley crew of investigators, accompanied by Ser Mikel, had only a brief time to check the murder weapons used on Septa Tyane with House Tyrell's smiths.
Approaching the man they'd been directed to, Roland inquired first as to the provenance of the blades he'd gathered and only after receiving an answer checked whether they could be forgeries.

Despite their shared experiences at the riot, Daeron looked worse for the wear, his nose is broken and he has two black eyes. Regardless, he was there at the market with his compatriots as a rotating member of Lady Lysette’s guard.

"That's master Wat of Longtable's mark." It takes two seconds for the smith to recognize it.

Lysette glanced at Roland, then at the smith.
"That was fast. Is master Wat well known for his work? What do you know of the man?"

"He can match your own Pate, haven't actually met either of them, but I must have at least a score blades with their marks around here somewhere." He gives an apologetic gesture for not knowing any more. "The work of any master smith of the Reach trickles into the armories of Highgarden m'lady, one way or the other. And it's part of my job to know what's good enough for our knights to trust in battle."

She nods thoughtfully. "And it's likely anyone with even a little knowledge of smithcraft would know that."
With that Lysette looks back to the knights with her.
"I think the next step would be a visit to the Merryweather pavilion then."

Addam had leaned up up against the wall of the armory, relatively unenthused with the meeting. He had hoped to spend the night relaxing and preparing for tomorrow, but Roland had asked for him to attend. The mention of Longtable's invovlment did manage to gain his attention. Shooting a concerned glanced at those present, "Would it be possible for Master Wat's arms to wind-up in Highgarden's vendor as well?"

Roland nodded in thanks to the smith. Such will never be knights, but they too serve according to their place.
"I am with Lord Durwell on this matter: the wretches that slew the good Septa were told to leave Merryweather marked blades at the site."
"Common vagabonds would not throw away valuable blades - good steel is worth coin and can are indeed the very tools of their trade."
"I heard tell from the guardsmen that House Merryweather is already engaged tonight, but mayhap we could seek an audience tomorrow, if we indeed decide that is the best approach. Lord Merryweather is Lord Levalle's equal in odiousness, but he is innocent of this crime and may have some thought as to who would seek to frame him. The description from the men I captured was inadequate at best, the Reach has no shortage of cloaked men with hint of beard."
Seven have mercy on whoever has to be part of that delegation.
[OOC: Handwave suggestion at the end on leaving part of this to D5?]

Mikel stands apart from the others and keeps an eye on the door to see if anybody else comes inside and appears too interested in the conversation. The easy walk here had his head throbbing again and he considers how much better off he would have been staying behind and resting. Seeing Daeron's bruised face did him some good though, after all misery loves company. He thought through what Roland had told him of the situation again after hearing who the makers mark belonged to. It's too obvious. Perhaps that is the point though? Then he will say 'If I had done it I wouldn't have used my own smith's blades!' And we'll believe him. He doubted that would be the case but he saw what a rabbits hole this sort of thing could easily become. The belief that whoever had told her the rumor had done so very intentionally rose to be his foremost theory, not that he had many others.
[OOC: I'm good with leaving the rest until/continuing on day 5]
