Ser Sebaston Rowan takes up a defensive posture facing Ser Aemon Flowers for the favor of Lady Lysette in one of the more anticipated matches of the first round, though all this business over Lord Hightower and other scores to be settled has taken away much attention for the romances that this day should truly be about. Both jousters makes for splendid sights, though Ser Aemon is the most stylish and handsome, most ladies would hope for his victory in Lady Lysette's stead, though Ser Sebaston is regarded as the better jouster. Better jouster or not, the first tilt sees him flung from the saddle, a most unexpected result. Ser Aemon assures himself that his opponent is none worse for wear, the only thing he has wounded is Ser Sebaston's pride, that is only of minor concern to him, so he makes his way over to Lady Lysette to hopefully claim her favor. Lysette does make her way down the stands to stand before Ser Flowers and offer up the cloth token, woven in Starling colors.
It's a favor, not an engagement, stop fidgeting so, she commands the queasiness in her stomach. Nerves.
She shows none of her unease though; graciousness and poise are required here, with all eyes on her.
"Well ridden, my knight," she says.

"Yours? Am I?" Ser Aemon quips, her choice of words could imply a great many things, he opts to take it in good spirits and leave it open to interpretation. "I could think of worse owners, my lady."

"It seems my effort to be portentious has turned pretentious," Lysette replies with a laugh. "You have my favor, don't be greedy."
Though it could have been taken as an admonishment, her lingering chuckle and radiant smile rather softened it.
"My hopes in this tourney now rest with you, Ser," she concludes. "Keep them well."

"I shall need plenty of hope to not turn into a pessimist, my lady, there remains fifteen men that I consider better than myself and twice that number are my equals." He gives a wink. "Though fifteen used to be sixteen, and Ser Sebaston counted among them, perhaps the stories of what the favor of a lady might do to a man's prowess are true?" More than one knight at Kingsbridge had believed as much, Maester Marlon had debunked that by explaining how, if you tossed a coin a thousand times, you could expect it to turn on it's head ten times in a row at least once. His point being that every now and then, someone would have a string of lucky breaks because that was how chance worked. Lord Willem had countered with that if a man believed that he would prevail, no matter of how irrational, he often would fight better.

"Perhaps," says Lysette. "Though some may doubt, in the end what they see will convince them. Show us what you believe."
The study of random chance was interesting, but in this case she didn't think random chance entered in. A joust was not a coin flip. It would come down to many things, and perhaps hope really would help Ser Aemond's chances.

"I believe that a man can extend his grasp if he but lifts his head and exerts himself to reach the fruit on the highest branches, my lady." Aeamon is not one to hesitate and stumble on his words faced with a beautiful woman. "Though I have never before encountered a tree so tall as this one."

"Ah, but careful," Lysette cautious jovially, "for the libraries are full of stories of what happens when a man's reach exceeds his grasp. To reach for great heights is to risk a great fall. Though you do not present the aspect of a man who would turn away at such a warning. You've that knightly stubbornness to you." She smiles.
