With the moon still high in the sky, and dawn's first light still hours away, Septon Abelar lets himself into the sept. Septon Janos is known to take his private prayers early, before the rush of the day overmasters him. Today is such a day, and the large man is the only one in the sept.
"Janos, well-met." Abelar holds off on saying more. The Tyrell septon likely knows why he is here. A septa lies murdered. Blood for blood, fire for hellfire.

"Well met indeed, septon." Janos does not look surprised. "Early prayers, is it?"

Abelar descends the steps, bringing himself closer to Janos. "Septon, you know as well as I do the ancient punishment for slaying a member of the faith. 'Those who fall as King Maegor fell, they fall in flames.' Lord Tyrell is bringing a hangman when he needs a pyre. Does not Lord Tyrell use the crow's cage and other sharp methods of execution? As his septon, you could help sway him to follow the ancient ways."
This is very likely to be an intrigue. [D4 initiative v. Janos]: 6d6k5+2 21Goal: Get Janos to try and persuade Lord Tyrell to burn the murderers, or in the alternative, allow Abelar and Janos to make the case to Lord Tyrell jointly.

"Septon Abelar." Even if there just the two of them, his voice has such strength that his conversational volume echoes throughout the sept. You and I both know that the seven pointed star makes no difference between men and women of the cloth and those without when it comes to the punishment for murder. And Lord Tyrell hangs commoners and beheads nobles, I very much doubt he would make an exception, even if he had not already declared his decision.
Goal: Get Abelar to stop putting himself and the faith in a bad light (as he sees it). Note that while you may convince Janos to agree with your point of view regarding the execution methods, he is not going to try and talk Lord Tyrell to change his decision. Intrigue Iniative: 4d6+2 23ID: 13 Convince: 6d6k4+2 19 is 4 influence per DoS, if septon benefit is to be read strictly it's 6 per DoS, but then that benefit becomes so powerful that it's application needs to be more restricted than presently. DR: 4

"Septon, you know as well as I do that half of our rituals are drawn from tradition, not text. We anoint with holy oils, but you shan't find any mention of that in the Seven-Pointed Star either. Burning is the proper punishment for slaying a septa, as you well know." While Abelar's voice can be as powerful as Janos's, he keeps it low for now, not wishing to engage in a shouting match in the sept. "And septon, the smallfolk of Highgarden learn of crime and punishment through legend, song, and tradition, not from books. Every one of them will remember how their great-nuncle or crone-like grandmother used to speak of burning septon-killers. Even if the old ways have been wrongfully suppressed since the time of Maegor, the songs and tales remain. They know right from wrong. Lord Tyrell would do well to find himself loved by the holy simple folk, and feared by murderers, especially . . . in times like these." Abelar keeps his tone neutral, half imploring Janos to guide his lord to the right, but leaving the threatening import of his words to hang in the air. At the same time, Abelar shifts his feet. I am at the edge of what decorum will allow. But lords and septas are falling to hidden blades. I am hardly the greatest of Lord Tyrell's problems.
Janos's 19 is good for 2 DOS, 8-4 = 4 influence. Abelar's Composure drops to 8. "Are you implying, septon." Janos crosses his arms. "That you intend to fire up the smallfolk into a frenzied bloodlust if you do not get your way?"
That's the only interpretation I can see for using intimidate tbh. ID: 13 DR: 4 Composure: 7/13 Convince: 6d6k4+2 17 eh

"They are fired up already, septon. If they did not hear the true sermon from me, they would hear it from another; from their songs and their grand-pappys. All I can do is implore you to guide Lord Tyrell toward the proper and just course. A prudent lord is loved by his people."
Janos hits for 1 DOS, but all 4 points of influence are soaked by Abelar's DR.
[Day 4 Janos] Persuasion (Intimidate): 6d6k4+4 21 (2 DOS and 10 - 4 = 6 influence dealt. Janos falls from 7 to 1 Composure)Is he going to take Frustration? If so, I'll roll multiples to speed things up.

"And what claim do you have on the truth, septon?" Janos shakes his head with a hint of sadness. "Tradition is what we make it to be, it was by the urging of Septon Eddard more than a hundred years ago that House Tyrell abolished the practice of inflicting slow and painful deaths upon the condemned." None of the faith had been murdered at Highgarden the last hundred years for that matter. "They did not make any exceptions when the decree was made. Justice and prudence is to set aside our own feelings, ambitions and conveniences. To be ruled by the will of the mob is to set aside the guiding principles given to us by the seven."
He quits, because you're trying to ask of him something he essentially sees as pointless and counterproductive, choice of intimidate also contributes to that decision, you could have convinced him to agree to your point of view, but to push him to act against his better judgement, nope.

Abelar throws up a hand and turns half away in frustration. "Septon Eddard had little brains and less courage. Mark my words, Janos, you can't fool the people this time." With that, Abelar departs. Until sunrise, he wanders Highgarden's nooks and alleys; the places where the hard-working smallfolk are up before first light. Here and there, he offers a quiet word regarding hellfire, damnation, and the proper punishment for the septa's killers. Unlike his sermon at the procession, he does not shout out or attempt to assemble a crowd. Lord Tyrell can call it justice, but the people will know the truth.
