The wine and bath house the night before had helped Mikel sleep. When he woke he felt fresh and ready for the coming day. He performed some light exercises then drilled at arms with some Starkwood men before breaking his fast then tending to his horse. Then he spent some time at the small folk tournament. Given his experience at tournaments by now he had good rhythm down. When he was informed that the Jousting had started he began putting on his armor with the help of a squire who was not his own. Was armored Mikel mounted and did some light riding to warm his horse, then took to tilting at a quintain. From the practice area Mikel could see the jousting and he and his mount were both still warm and in place when their time came. Since waking Mikel had been rehearsing the match in his mind. He saw his lance striking solidly into Otho from a multitude of angle's and the effects it would have. He had seen Otho coming at him in a number of ways, expected and unexpected. Here now Mikel thought of nothing but knew Otho's only advantage was that this wasn't a battlefield and when Mikel unhorsed him he would lose but might survive. At this moment Mikel was entirely immersed in the moment and aware of nothing else. As they waited across the field from each other Mikel studied his opponent until the signal to joust was given.

Ser Otho Bracken sits atop a big and foul tempered Destrier, black and grey, caparisoned with the Red Stallion on Yellow, beneath his greathelm, Mikel can sense his angry eyes on him. The big brute is not here for sport, he is here for blood, the very same color that is inlaid on his full plate. It has been said that he ordered the Tyroshi masters to make it that way so that he enjoys that color very, very much.

Maneuvers: Braced, Noble, Heightened Stakes
Passive Animal Handling: 16 (12 +2 Ride + 2 Tourney Knight)
AR:9 (Half Plate fitted) Health: 12/12 Damage: 7 (ANH +1, +2 Charge, +1 Courser) - Noble = Damage 4 * 2 DoS = 8
D4-Joust R1- Joust v. Otho (Braced, Noble, Heigthened Stakes): 7d6k4+2-2 20 - (+3 for ANH)= 23 / 2 DoS (+2 for Tourney Knight, -2 for Braced)
D4-R1- Stay in Saddle: 5d6k3+2+3 18 (-2 for mistakenly adding Tourney Knight) = 16 (+3 for Braced)
D4 - R1 - Catch your breath: 5d6k4 22 (Tourney Lance has tilting, -1 to Athletics. If this applies than it is 21)
Mikel and his mount where a blur of grey and blue with bits of red as they rode towards Otho, Mikel's focus entirely on unhorsing the man as soon as he could. When it felt right Mikel adjusted the point of his lance just enough to place it where he determined it would be most likely to unhorse the brute. With any luck the fall would kill him.

Ser Otho Bracken hurls himself into the joust, full of bloodlust, but tempered with a certain low cunning, too. His lance breaks but that is all it does, yet Ser Mikel gets the sickening feeling that he was aiming for his neck, even with a tourney lance, the force that Ser Otho brings to bear can be lethal. Dishonorable aiming: 2d6 10 He gets away from the shoddy stand-in tourney master with targeting your CD for damage purposes, but not your passive awareness so you know what he's doing. Anyone with passive awareness(notice) 15+ (and AH and Fighing at 3+, otherwise it's 18+) that is around can also see it. Braced, SiS: 6d6k5+1 12 5d6k4+3 20 0 DoS against Mikel (1 DoS for damage), no damage goes through, he stays in his saddle. Otho Bracken spends a DP to convert +1b into +1D

Passive Animal Handling: 16 (12 +2 Ride + 2 Tourney Knight) - 3 (Aggressive) = 13 AR:9 (Half Plate fitted) Health: 12/12 Damage: 7 (ANH +1, +2 Charge, +1 Courser) - Noble = Damage 4 * 2 DoS = 8
Aggression Eyes Fixed Noble Show off
D4-R2 Joust v. Otho, Agg., Eyes Fixed, Show Off: 7d6k4+3+3+1 23 - 2 DoS Tourney Knight +2, Show Off -2 = not included in roll
D4-R2 Stay in saddle: 5d6k3 14
D4 - R2 Catch Breath: 5d6k4 14 - 1 (Athletics from Tourney Lance)= 13
With Otho trying to kill him Mikel wanted to break his concentration. When the two riders came together Mikel let his Lance dip earlier then before and kept it leveled at Othos face. He wanted to see Otho's helmet sail off his head and into the air and watch the man fly into a red rage of anger and shame. Though even if that didn't happen he thought it might disrupt Otho's intentions and make his own Lance less sure. Mikel would keep Otho guessing with each pass, and hopefully keep him on the defensive.

Ser Mikel's trick *almost* worked, but the reply is savage and brutal, where Mikel merely sought to remove his helm, Ser Otho's aimed to smash it with Mikel's face still inside. With a war lance, that would most likely have been the result. Eyes Fixed, SiS: 6d6k5+4 23 5d6k4 15Okay...so, with aggressive, passive ride is now 13 (and CD is 7), eyes fixed is +1 damage per DoS, that means Otho scores 3 DoS against PR, for a TN 15 to stay in saddle, and a 4 DoS for damage, meaning Mikel takes 10*4=40 damage, becomes 50 as he falls off. So it looks like DP or wound and defeat to me. He stays in the saddle. (Tourney lance has no effect on catch breath).

To the surprise of the crowd, Ser Mikel manages to keep his seat after such a vicious blow to the head, his ears ringing and vision cloudy, the cheers tells him that his opponent fell off his horse. He is not likely to hear the very loud cheers of Lady Ysilla, half of which is ecstatic triumph, the other half being a stream of very pointed accusations about the foul Brute of Bracken and how he has soiled himself and deserves a very grisly fate best not repeated in remotely polite circles, only one with the blood of the dragon can get away with such barely contained rage without utterly ripping the boundaries of what's considered ladylike to shreds. When Ser Mikel removes his helm he is confronted with Maester Ronnel having strict orders for him to allow himself to be helped onto a gurney and lay perfectly still on until given permission to anything else, he is also asked what his name is, who he was facing and which round of the joust it was. The same drill any maester asks of anyone getting badly hit in the head.
DP spent to change the course of events, plus a few fudges because certain player choices did not mesh too well with player intent, leaves Mikel victorious but with a wound. Ysilla goes full frontal rumor assault: 5d6+7 27 4 DoS against Otho Bracken. Any Blood-supporting rumor-action targeting his depravities gains a +4 bonus, usable once per house during day 4 or 5.
