The last three days had built up to this moment. Would he unseat Walton and move on, his words forgotten? Or would he go through with the plan and remove a potential future threat? There was a third option; Balon would lose but that thought was pushed to the darkest corners of Balon's mind. Atop his grey courser Ghaston, Balon rode to his starting position. His full plate shined like a golden sunrise. His great helm's black horns a stark contrast to his armor's radiance. He patted Ghaston's mane, "Run true today my friend." He looked down the line at his foe. Highgarden was watching. Mercy is for the weak. And the weak deserve no mercy. The trumpets sounded and Balon spurred on Ghaston. Brutal: -2 Fighting, +2 Damage / DoS R1, Walton Wyl, Brutal: 6d6k4+2 18, 10 Damage per DoS*Keeping my DP handy.

Ser Walton may not be Ser Balon's equal in the saddle, but neither is he a pushover, his first lance matches that of his foe but there are still eight tilts to go.

Ser Walton Wyl is a capable enough jouster, and with the experience to not get rattled by the stakes involved, calmly proceeding as usual.

He knew of Walton's skill with a lance but his horsemanship was supposed to be lacking. His frustration turned to anger and he decided to continue his aggressiveness without bracing for Walton's strike. He rode Ghaston hard, spurring him faster and faster. He wanted as much force behind the blow as possible. He kept his eyes forward, aiming for the high center of Walton's torso. The blow was a savage one. Balon's legs gripped tightly against the saddle as he absorbed the return blow. Ser Walton Wyl seems to weather such a savage blow, but his horse doesn't stop on it's own, the attendants needs to leap into action to calm it down, and when it stops, Ser Walton slumps to the ground, the maester of Highgarden is the first to react, sprinting at full capacity driven by a sickly feeling of the meaning of what he sees.
AR: 10 Passive Ride: 17 Health 0 Defensive +3, SiS, CyB: 6d6k4 21 5d6k3 15 3d6-3 52 DoS is 18-10=8 damage. He hangs on by the skin of his teeth, and then comes a DP saying "NO" Balon gets Destrier and Full Plate in ransom, but given the likely choice of defeat here, it is customary to let the widow have it.

Balon knew he'd delivered a strong hit against Ser Walton but in the process he'd made himself vulnerable to the Master-at-Arms lance. He let out an 'umpf' when the lance struck but he easily remained upright.
HP: 8/12 (after CyB)
As he rode to the end of his lane he looked behind him to see Ser Walton still upright on his horse. Impossible! he thought. He wheeled Ghaston around to prepare for another pass when he realized Walton was riding limp. His arms hung to his sides and his head was slumped forward. Yes... YES! As the attendants gained control of the horse the dornishman slumped to the ground.
As the maester knelt over Walton, Balon could see the grim expression on his face. Being prepared, the maester pulled out several strips of cloth and placed them on Walton's torso, a clear attempt to staunch the flow of blood. Balon sat on his horse motionless, watching the scene unfold. He wasn't sure how much time had passed but the maester leaned in, turning to put his ear to Walton's mouth. He put his finger on Walton's neck for a few moments before looking up and shaking his head to those gathered around him.
I did it! Oh shit, I did it. Balon turned to the Blackbriar assistant, "Do not ask, nor accept any ransom." The die has been cast. Balon dismounted and walked off, oblivious to any crowd reaction.
Consequence of Defeat: Death.
