An open wagon makes its way to the steps of the sept, upon it, draped in a white cloth covering her all the way up to her chin lies the body of Septa Tyane, head resting on a pillow, eyes closed as if asleep. Twenty knights of the Tyrell household rides as an honor guard. Whispers spreads all around it's route about how she was murdered in an assault that would have costed the life of Lady Alicent as well, if not for the fortuitous presence of Ser Roland Cordwayner. None seem to know any more details of the matter, but word is that the assailants are either dead or captured, awaiting Lord Tyrell's judgement.
Mostly to give everyone that wants a way to learn that this has happened, and an avenue to spin popular opinion one way or the other over the whole affair.

The rumours had spread like wildfire and he had to see it by himself. Two deaths in such short time. And the blackguards where after Lady Alicent they say... The gathered crowd was silent, with the odd muted whisper but this was a very different silence from the one in Sept earlier this morning. It wasn’t just sorrow. There was fear. Fear and anger.
There was something putrid in Highgarden and everyone knew it. Poisoned lords and murdered Septas. It was an outrage. Something had to be done but Titus felt furiously helpless.

As the wagon comes to a halt at the steps of the sept, Septon Abelar takes a step out from the crowd. His face is stern, but trembling as he struggles to contain his rage. "NO MAN MAY STRIKE A SEPTA AND SURVIVE! MEN AND WOMEN OF HIGHGARDEN, HEAR THIS: EVIL WALKED AMONG US TODAY!" He speaks slowly, his voice booming out powerfully, turning heads in the crowd. Having captured their attention, he continues. "She was defenseless--a woman sworn to the gods. Only an unholy beast could strike a woman of the cloth! We must powerfully purge this filth from among us. Indeed, a hangman's noose is too sweet a release! In the days of the Conqueror, slaying a member of the faith was meet with BLOOD, THEN FIRE!" He begins pacing out in the street behind the honor guard and wagon. He turns to one side of the street. "Hellfire surely awaits the SOUL of this MURDEROUS SINNER! What better way to bid a final farewell to the loathsome killers than a pyre?"He turns back to the other. "Wrap them in sheets soaked in holy oil! Lash them to a stout pole atop the kindling! AND OPEN UP BENEATH THEM THE FLAMING PASSAGEWAY TO HELL!!!""BLOOD, THEN FIRE! BLOOD, THEN FIRE!" He continues, leading some members of the crowd to join in his chant.
This is a Persuasion (Incite) test against the crowd to whip them into a frenzy in favor of burning the septa's killers at the stake (fire), presumably after some torture (blood). The chant is an attempt to weave in a familiar Targaryen reference that the smallfolk may associate with authority and that the highborn supporters of the crown might find mildly pleasing. [D3 A Silent Procession] Persuasion (Incite) v. Crowd/Orator: 7d6k5 25 27 due to Septon benefit (Note TN is also reduced by 3 due to Orator benefit)

Oh dear, this is not good. Lord Alliser had a stern expression on his face, I imagine if I spoke in favor of the Septon, it would be a good way to score some cheap points. But giving further power to the faith is dangerous. The faith militant are not something I would wish to see in my lifetime. So Lord Alliser stayed silent, and watched the proceedings unfold, trying to determine which way the crowd was going to go.

Malyk spoke a brief prayer for the fallen Septa as she passed by. A pretty girl. He hoped whoever had ended her singing would reap the justice they deserved.
Then the Septon started speaking. Malyk's face grew darker with every word, as did many others, but for an entirely different reason.
What kind of Septon speaks such venom over the body of an innocent taken so tragically? What kind of Septon seeks to answer the terrible pain of such a thing by making that pain infinitely worse and longer lasting. What kind of Septon preys upon the fear and hatred of his flock? What kind of Septon answers violence by inciting more and even greater violence!
Justice needed to be done, yes. But Malyk suspected this Septon was not interested in justice. He wanted something more. Something darker. Something visceral. His chant of Blood and Fire might even be political. If that were true, he was trampling the corpse of an innocent girl, and one of his own, to achieve his goals. His song was a flaming sword that sought to cleave indiscriminately.
Malyk turned away and proceeded to the market to finish some of Lord Alliser's errands. He had never before clapped eyes on the Septon, and hoped he never would again.
There was one part of the speech that he and the Septon were in absolute agreement.
There was no doubt that evil walked among us in Highgarden.

Leana is almost at the procession, so she may be seen honouring a fallen septa, as a proper pious lady should, when she hears the baying of the crowds. She takes a moment to look around the corner, assessing the situation, then turns around, and starts briskly walking away.
When there are yells to 'purge filth from among us', those of natural birth are best elsewhere.

The Septon, through his fiery rhetoric, put to words to his own fear and anger. The men who held the daggers should be punished, but dogs like that seldom act on their own accord. Someone holds the leach. The question was who?
His House was supposed to be a champion of the faith and was he just to stand idly by while it’s servants had its throats cut?

Lysette had been silent, lost in sorrow and gloomy thoughts...but then the Septon had begun to speak. At first his anger and passion was moving. She could even be swept along for a moment, but when she looked around at the crowd a sudden terror gripped her. And what was this? Burning? What was he DOING? This was a FUNERAL! "Wait!" she cried out and moved towards the Septon with teary eyes and waving her hand. Though her eyes were on him, her words were equally for the crowd. "Everyone! There WILL be justice! And when the guilty are found, they WILL be punished. But we are here, now, for the Septa's sake. Let us not turn her procession into a mob. She deserves better. We all do." As she spoke, she went from speaking loudly to more quietly, hoping to lead the crowd and the Septon himself from shouting to listening. As soon as Ser Donnel sees the mob starting to grow agitated, he picks out knights he knows to be cold under pressure. "Nobody gets to the septa, form a perimiter outside of the household guards!" Protect the funeral procession warfare?: 4d6k4 12

OOC: Edited previous post to fit narrative, don’t think I’d be able to casually talk with the septon when he’s rabble rousing.

Ashara is walking to the procession with Laena, and leaves with her as well - the Seven Pointed Star may have more to say about bastards than Dornish, but in the here and now anti-Dornish sentiments were just as likely - or more, probably - to lead to violent action. Especially with Lord Jon having been poisoned and all the talk about poison being a Dornish weapon, or a woman's weapon. Being a woman of Dornish heritage meant both ridiculous stereotypes applied... so far no one had made any accusations, but that wouldn't matter much to a violent mob.
I might be able to help Lysette calm them, but I can't afford to make an enemy of the Septon. Also the crowd could turn on me. I'm not exactly 'lady popular' like Lysette. The Septon was so nice in person, so completely different than he is now. I understand his anger, but this is not a righteous fury. This is dangerous.

Like many, Balon had come to see the procession. Not out of remorse but a morbid curiosity. Hmmm, covered her up to the neck. Must've really done a number on her. But why a septa? Just in the way I suppose. The rumor mill was in full swing. Lady Alicent had met with Ser Roland and they were attacked by brigands or some such.
What is it with Ser Roland and Dornish women? In a way Balon was jealous Roland had been the one to save Alicent. Not because he had any affection for Lady Alicent (though truth be told he wouldn't mind laying with her... or on her) but because this would only inflate Roland's already inflated sense of honor and (to Balon) ego.
Balon saw his brother and began to move towards him when Septon Abelar separated himself from the crowd and began to preach. Oh, for fucks sake. To make matters worse Lady Lysette spoke out in opposition to Abelar. By the Seven hells. As people began to be whipped up Balon smiled and shouted, "First Dornish poison, now Dornish blades!" I am such an asshole. Balon thought as he watched the scene unfold.

Malyk heard a woman's voice ring out through the crowd.
He stopped dead. Her song was pure, simple and selfless.
He whirled around and stalked up the center of the street towards the Sept.
"You should all be ashamed. All of you!" He roared for all to hear. "All of you, baying for more blood when this poor girl's is barely cold!" His words dripped with acid.
"Do you need reminding that the Right of Gallows in this place is Lord Tyrell's and his alone!
Do you not trust Lord Tyrell to dispense sound judgement in this matter!
Do you not have faith in your Lord to bring justice to this poor girl!
Who are you," His gaze swiveled to the fiery Septon calling for blood. "ANY OF YOU, to presume so much.
The Father has, in his wisdom, entrusted Lord Tyrell with these difficult matters so they need not burden US. Who here in their pride would gainsay that wisdom!"

[OOC: I'm holding off on posting for now until I understand the structure of our exchange. I also noticed that it is likely true that Septon applies to my roll, as this appears to be a crowd intrigue. That gives me a 27 on my initial result.
I wrote my response and posted it to a private drafts thread that Father can see, so if my AFK prevents response, he can post it and roll for me as necessary. However, that draft only responds to what has happened up until this point in the thread]

As a proper knight, Daeron was in attendance, but honestly expected no such commotion to arise from a Septa's funerary procession. When shouts began to rise for the remaining assailants to be tortured and lynched, Daeron began to feel uncomfortable. Although he had no qualms with commoners being tortured and/or burned alive for attacking an unarmed septa, he was in no position to undercut his fellow Companion's deeds, or house's heir by publicly calling for an execution outside of Lord Tyrell's control. For once he had the wisdom to keep his goddamn mouth shut and simply edged closer to his housemates in the crowd, a hand on his blade, ready to protect them in case things got violent.
