Lord Jon has this foreboding feeling that he should not have come, it is bad enough to have to share an evening next to Lord Eldon, luckily the fat pig spent most of his time gorging himself on Gormy's banquet and taking liberties with the serving girls not befitting a man that once had been anointed by the seven oils, hopefully whoever knighting him is long dead, nobody should have to endure the shame of seeing how his former charge turned out. Wait wasn't it King Aegon? Oh, why, yes it was. Nevermind then, he might be ten years dead but he knew no shame in life. No it was something else, he had lived a long life as a fixture at court, by the king's side chiefly, and he had learned to sense when there are daggers hidden behind men's smiles, but he could not determine whose smiles and whom for, nor did he think for a moment that the danger might be in his recently filled cup of wine.
Only characters having completed The Grand Masquerade Ball event and successfully gained entry may partake.
Challenge:
Something is not right here, to find out what is just about to happen, the following tests must be made:
Awareness (Notice) TN 9
Cunning (Logic) TN 9
Healing (Diagnosis) TN 9
Critical failure on any test makes you unable to participate any further, and increases the TN of the above tests by 1 for the purposes of determining whether one might react in time to save the victim. Deliberate botching is allowed, but there will be serious consequences for that.
Success on all three tests alerts you to what is happening, three DoS on any one test yields additional information (which by itself is good enough to figure out what is happening even if other tests fails.)
Those figuring out what is happening may attempt one of the following options:
Sow Confusion and disarray
Attempt a deception(bluff) TN 12 test, costume bonus applies, each DoS increases the TN of the above tests by 1 for the purposes of determining whether one might react in time to save the victim.
Needless to say, critical failure carries serious consequences.
Save the Victim
Attempt a will(courage) TN 12 test to intervene to save the victim.
Catching Assassins
3 DoS on the Awareness test allows you to spot the assassins, you may choose to point them out to Lord Tyrell for interrogation and trial or keep this knowledge for your own purposes.
Consequences:
-Should the mischief fail to be prevented, the side of Blood gains +2 score as the assassins succeeds (but may still be caught), anyone that successfully (and intentionally) increased the difficulty of saving the victim shares credit to these points among themselves.
-Each character that successfully helped save the victim is given a token that can anonymously be traded in for +1 coffers, if they decide to break anonymity to [Victim] +1 influence, and the disposition of [Victim of status 6] towards them increases by +5, if they decide to break anonymity to the public, then gain in addition +2 chivalry, +1 influence and +3 disposition with Lords Tyrell and Peake as well as members of [House of Victim].
-Giving up the Assassins to Lord Tyrell, their mission a success or not, +1 coffers.
