Knight and squire. Adoptive father and son. Fire and Fury. Balon and Fireball. Neither trained for the pageantry of tourney jousting. They were soldiers; bred for battle. Despite that the two had made it to the round of sixteen and now faced one another. Balon had found himself becoming increasingly angry since he returned from the Riverlands. Finding joy in things was becoming more difficult and simple disagreements easily provoked an angry response. Despite his temperament Balon found some semblance of happiness facing off against his mentor. He hoped to eclipse Fireball in martial skill and Seven willing, strategic brilliance. After all wouldn't a teacher be proud of his pupil for surpassing him? Only time would tell. I'm rusty on jousting so please double check and make sure I didn't make too many mistakes. Full Plate Superior Shield Superior Long Sword x 2 Superior Destrier (Beast) Tourney Lance Extra gear per Bulk rules Fighting: 6d6k4+5 (FTG 5, Lances 2b, ANH 4, +1 Destrier) Damage: 10 (ANH +1, +2 Charge, +3 Horse Strength) SiS: 6d6k4+1 CYB: 6d6k4 AR: 10 (12) Is this correct, full plate adds 2 AR on opposed charges?

Known for his temper, Fireball is nonetheless disciplined and weathers Balon's strong opening blow. The man is enough years past his prime for Balon to have slightly better odds of victory this day, the answer of who would win a duel at their best is likely to remain unanswered. 1 DoS vs. Balon. Not enough to cause any HP loss. DoS tally: Balon 3, Fireball 1 [Phase 4] Appleton Joust, vs. Fireball, Charge Noble EF, SiS, CYB: 6d6k4+7 24 6d6k4+1 16 6d6k4 19PR: 19 AR: 10 (12) HP: 12/12, Tough His first pass was almost flawless but Fireball remained seated atop his horse. On the second pass Balon didn't strike as true nor did he have the best balance but it was another good pass. Hopefully it'd be enough.

Fireball's aim may be a little shaky, but his lance broke and his horsemanship remains excellent. Fireball N: 6d6k4+5 15 6d6k4+1 21 4d6 10PR 19 AR 12 Health 12/12

DoS tally: Balon 5, Fireball 1 [Phase 4] Appleton Joust, vs. Fireball, Charge Noble EF, SiS, CYB: 6d6k4+7 21 6d6k4+1 17 6d6k4 21PR: 19 AR: 10 (12) HP: 12/12, Tough Balon's third pass was his weakest yet. His lance struck Fireball's shield but it lacked the accuracy of his first two passes. Sooner or later one of them would make a mistake. But who?

A mistake, a stroke of misfortune, or a strike that simply is too powerful to withstand, all of these things could happen. But none do in the third pass. Fireball N: 6d6k4+5 26 6d6k4+1 12 4d6 19PR 19 AR 12 Health 12/12 So 2 DoS for 20-12=8 damage because EF.

8 Damage 4 HP Recovered from CYB DoS tally: Balon 6, Fireball 3 [Phase 4] Appleton Joust, vs. Fireball, Charge Noble EF, SiS, CYB: 6d6k4+7 30 6d6k4+1 19 6d6k4 18PR: 19 AR: 10 (12) HP: 8/12, Tough The blow from Fireball refocused Balon's efforts. Another few hits like that and I'll be on the ground in no time. As he turned Beast for another pass he mentally replayed the first strike against his mentor. Aim in. Following his own advice as they came together for another crash of lances against shields Balon brought his lance across his body just a little more than normal forcing a quick correction by Fireball. Would the fourth pass be the deciding one?

The fourth pass turns out to indeed the deciding one, and even though Balon again lands a very well placed strike, Fireball almost manages to hold his seat even so. But as Fireball has said on multiple occasions, almost means dead. Fireball N: 6d6k4+5 23 6d6k4+1 17 4d6 12PR 19 AR 12 Health 12/12

It seemed as if Fireball would withstand another well placed blow from Balon but as he reached the end of the lane Balon heard the unmistakable sound of an armored knight hitting the ground. Wheeling about he trotted Beast close to his mentor to ensure there were no serious injuries. "Well fought, ser." Balon dipped his head in respect to Fireball. Knowing flowery words were neither required nor wanted Balon waited for Fireball to stand before turning his horse and leaving the jousting area.
And then there were 8.
