Destiney needed for bigger things. Addam is unhorsed. 17500ss in ransom. And just like that, the young knight was knocked to the dirt.

6 Passes is required to determine the first finalist of the tourney, Lord Marq appears the stronger jouster, and eventually his superior horsemanship and a little feint makes the host fall short. Ser Lyonel makes a good showing by forcing seven passes before he finally misses Ser Lewyn's shield on the eight. The final between Lord Durwell and Ser Lewyn treats the crowd to 8 passes, including a very well placed lance by Lord Marq on the seventh pass that his opponent masterfully withstands. Ser Lewyn fails to perform nearly as well on the next pass, missing his shield cleanly, thus leaving Marq to apparently contemplate whether he should do his theatrics at Highgarden all over again, or maybe he just felt like making Laena worry about it for one short moment. But such games were only worth playing once.

Laena for Queen of Love and Beauty. [WTF? I completely missed this! This merits an IC response.] Laena considered herself a realist, focused on pragmatic realities, rather than the pointless and vain pursuits of many noblewomen. So, she sought the appearance of ladylike amibition, rather than truly choosing a path in sincere hopes of becoming queen. Having been denied again and again, her mind was dwelling on *how* she would be denied this time, rather than *if* she would be. Thus it was that she was caught completely off-guard when Marq named her queen. While she had enough decorum to avoid gaping like some slack-jawed peasant, her sheer shock as the crown was gently lowered onto her head was likely evident both to him and anyone who knew her well with a good look at her face. She recieved the crown with a wild mix of emotions. She was genuinely smiling, flushing somewhat, and her heart was beating faster. But such a pointless thing should not instill such feelings in her! Even from a man such as Marq. Was she truly so shallow? Yes. It seemed she was. Her shame was mollified somewhat when, on assessing the expressions of ladies near her, she saw a fair amount of awe and envy among a good proportion of them. Perhaps less for the crown, as who gave it - likely even those who had not attended the Black Tourney had heard what Lord Marq did there. While only a fool would read as much into a crown given to her as one given to Lady Tanda Peake, a crown given to her by a hand which had previously denied one so important warmed her heart, regardless of the practicalities justifying the difference. It seemed that even in her heart, shrunken and chilled by scheming and loss, there was still room for joy at simple, useless things. 'Thank you' she mouths at Lord Marq, through the applause he'd earned by his performance. And all the while, one thought quietly echoed in her mind. Queen of Love and Beauty. Queen. Queen.
