Lynesse approached the Hastwyck camp in a state of distraction, if not quite distress. She was unsure of her likely reception. On the one hand, she had not yet done the Hastwycks harm, but on the other, hers was among the many voices that had proven their claims false. Perhaps she would be blamed for that, or perhaps the Hastwycks would show some small contrition that might work assist her with what was to come.

The Hastwycks are rather guarded at Lynesse's approach, thinking her Eldon's creature perhaps. Or her uncle's?

Lynesse did her best to set them at ease, by the rather circuitous route of first putting them on edge.
"I bring important news, which may be hazardous to me to share if word of it were to reach the ears of my uncle, or another Lord of our mutual and reluctant acquaintance," Lynesse announced cryptically.
"Before I say more on the matter, I would have your word that what confidences I might share would not be passed on to Mustard Hall or farther afield."

That is an easy enough concession to make, Ser Eustace having thrown in his lot with the usurper and all.
