I don't live in either the US or the UK (and both countries have horrible politicians with horrible rhetorics, arguably the US have the worst by a wide margin, our politicians are much less horrible, yet pretty much none of them are people I would want running my country). Also, in the absence of our crappy national side (though much improved now after we sacked the inept manager and finally hired someone that is competent rather than someone being good buddies with the bigwigs in the FA), I'm rooting for Iceland. They have like 1% chance of winning the whole thing according to some smart Belgian and German data analysts that ran 10000 simulations. Looks like I'll get 251 times the stakes back if I put money on it...hmmm. Im hopeful for 2022! Ajer will be solid, Sørloth will be a proper 9, and we have so many others! Lets just hope NFF (Norways Corrupt FIFA) wont destroy things again!

If Ajer gets sold to benchwarmer-status, that's not really good for us however.

He is good with the ball in his feet, he used to be an attacking midfielder! He is tall, so he just needs a bit extra strength, and most important he has a good understanding of the game🤔
I think he just needs to be a bit "meaner" and he could compete for a apot in most clubs! But true! Too many norwegians have gone too early!<br> Lets hope he is smarter than Samuelsen and Ødegård! Not making the mistake of going to real madrid!
Although Ajer could probably be a better defender than Real madrid has😂

After Icelands performance I really want to go back to playing an Ironborn! Incredible!

Interesting results today.
So having nothing better to do than to watch almost everything (what, you thought you guys were the center of my universe? That's just my superficial charm at work).
Spain looks like the most credible challenger for the cup after one round (I was out hiking like a good Norwegian on Saturday, so missed the French match, reports weren't all that convincing, but they have plenty of quality and should be hungry for success), Portugal is a good dark horse, but I suspect that they're too dependent on scoring first against strong teams, which arguably is not very likely to happen enough times in succession in the knock-outs for them to recreate their performance in the Euro's. Brazil, Argentina and Germany really needs to up their game, the latter two much more so, I think Brazil and Germany can do that, I have my doubts about Argentina. Germany shock-exit in the group stage is a very real possibility, and given more space to work with than the human wall of self-sacrificing viking ancestors, Messi&co might be able to work their magic, but I can't really shake the feeling that Messi being the superstar that makes the team revolve around him works well on a club team like Barcelona where everyone is used to playing with him (and he with them) and their playstyle and type of players bought fits with that. But it's a poor fit for Argentina to do that, maybe they'd have to do "outragous" stuff like putting Di Maria on the bench.
England? Belgium? Uruguay? Croatia? Not impressed. Good start for the nordics, but I don't think any of them can hope for better than a quarter-final and even that would be way above expectations. Mexico however, they were impressive indeed.
If I am to hazard a guess, I'll say that whoever wins group B out of Spain and Portugal gets a highway to the final, while the other gets to fight with Argentina, Brazil, Germany and France for the other ticket from that bracket. Also, I'm calling Mexico for the semifinals.

Let me point out how England can win with 5 goals, and it is still Panama who are the heroes! It has been such a rollercoaster through this entire world cup!

England trashing Panama probably raised the expectations on the other side of the North Sea to second place means that effigies of [Insert Scapegoat here] must be burned.

One Nordic team through to round of 16, two to go. Stranger things have (almost) happened so far than Iceland pulling off a shocker.

That's the best part! Especially the sport where the ball is squished flat and played on ice!
