There is no honor involved in the duel between Lord Jarmen and Ser Farman. Lord Mandrake sought vengeance in the joust and again in the melee, the first time he lost, the second he won dishonorably with the help of his brothers. Now it is Ser Farman's turn to act the blackguard, the duel is brutal, with war lances being used, ignoring Lord Butterwell's plea for restraint. The Great Bastard proves far superior with the sword following an inconclusive initial charge, Lord Jarmen yields, but is granted no further consideration than he himself had given when the roles were reversed. He delivers a series of thrusts and slashes that makes his foe cry for mercy, Ser Farman demands of him to kneel, apologize and admit publicly that he has thrice been wrong to challenge and pursue him, which Lord Jarmen accedes to with hesitation and stammer. The Great Bastard appears to consider further punishment, but to the relief of the crowds decides against any such notion, mayhaps he merely savored the fear in Lord Mandrake's eyes at the prospect without having any thought for cruelty?
