*Note that Lynesse will be part of Part 1 of this thread with Melara, but not the rest.*
A Great Bastard and the granddaughter of a leal bannerman were evidently important enough to earn a meeting with Lady Melara Hightower, a good start as she was unlikely to love their proposal.
“Lady Melara, it is good to see you again. Was Lady Elena’s salon as thrilling as Lord Gormon’s hunt?”

Lynesse remembered well Lord Marq's warning to her. Even if Lady Melara's course of action was doomed to failure, she might be inclined to cleave to it over good advice, and spurn the messenger for the message they brought
Still, Daeron seemed to have a knack for seizing the moment that Lynesse lacked, and so she would support him here to smooth over previous misunderstandings and hopefully advance a shared cause. She had already shared her condolences with Lady Melara at the salon for the death of Lord Jon, so she simply curtsied deeply to her. She and Melara were no strangers, after two eyars serving as a handmaiden in Oldtown.
"My Lady," she greeted her simply, allowing Daeron to take the lead.

Thankfully, the Salon held not nearly as much excitement as the hunt, Melara swats away the usual courtesies with dry humor.

He smiles, appreciating her wit and humor as always. He then mentally winces as he knows that the compromise that he was about to offer would likely please neither party, but with some luck they would see the wisdom of it and how it was their best chance of maintaining their power in Oldtown. "Lady Melara we apologize for our intrusion, but we have a proposal that we'd like bring forward to you.
We don't need to inform you that the regency of your house is of the utmost importance to our cause and we would like to see that House Hightower follows the path set by Lord Jon before his murder, but as it stands it seems that various factions of your house are poised to tear Oldtown apart for supremacy. What we propose is that you formally set aside your own claim in favor of Ser Abelar's and that you two come together to ensure that you are not shut out of power by Ser Raymun or Lady Rhonda and that the Hightower leans the right direction when the time is right. As a friend and ally I must speak openly and honestly with you that he appears to have the most support at the moment and should he gain the regency without your support, you might find yourself relegated to some meaningless position at the Hightower. However, should your support be paramount to him earning the regency until Lord Brynden comes of age you might find yourself in a position of influence similar to what you wielded at Lord Jon's side.
This is of course in the event that we can guarantee that your son would agree to a similar course of action."

Too bold by half, Lynesse thought ruefully. Lady Melara was no shrinking violet to be directed in matters of Oldtown politics as if she were some unlettered kitchen scullion or bashful handmaid. Would she bend simply to an assertion that she lacked support, simply from one poor showing at Whitegrove? Still, Daeron had a direct manner of speaking that defied subterfuge, and was likely to convince Melara that many deep in the Fire camp thought as he did. She would need to represent something else. A moderating force perhaps? More sympathetic to Melara's position, and informed of the nuances within Oldtown?, and less of a Blackfyre partisan. SHe presumed that was largely why Daeron had asked for her support. Standing slightly beside and behind Ser Daeron, Lynesse's slight wince at his words was likely imperceptible to him, though not to Melara "Perhaps greater in influence my Lady, for your son would need to rely on your knowledge of, and sway over, House Hightower's bannermen, and heed your counsel over how best to bind them closer to Oldtown."
PATP - Assist rolls rounds 1-4: 4#6d6k4+1 19 16 16 19 Which will be a +2 to influence checks. Assist probably doesn't apply to initiative, since Lynesse can't act [or take a free action] during the initiative phase.

Then his initiative should be 26 because his chivalry shouldn’t be added either.

Lady Melara thanks the two for their attention, but no, she will not rescind her claim to regency. None other can be relied upon to properly safeguard her husband's legacy, sadly, this includes her eldest son.
Quits intrigue.

Daeron purses his lips. He had hoped for more cooperation and that Lady Melara would at least consider the pragmatism and wisdom of his proposal. However, while Daeron Waters might have been disheartened, Daeron Wildfyre appreciated her unyielding nature and decided that it was time for a pivot.
"Very well my lady, that limits our course of action, but know that I will do everything that I can to see you ascend.
What do you propose for our next course of action then? I am unfamiliar with the process that a house such as yours follows to decide the regency. I assume that we will want to win over the support of as many of House Hightower's banners as well as Lord Leo?"

There are no ironclad laws for regency as there is for successions, and even those are sometimes set aside if the powers that be so deems best. Precedence grants the liege lord the final say in the matter, sometimes his final word is the first one uttered, but precedence also suggests that a wise liege lord will consult with the family of his underage bannerman, the infighting has made Lord Leo act as he always does in the face of discomfort, he elects to ignore the issue in the hope that it resolves itself before he no longer may ignore it. And truthfully, Lord Jon delegated enough of his day to day affairs that those given such duties can carry them out to insure that Oldtown and it's domains have it's caretakers, the militia is drilled, the fields are being plowed, the watch patrols the streets. It is House Hightower who suffers for the lack of direction. To get a resolution, the family must either be united, Lord Tyrell become convinced that the situation is unbearable or enough of Oldtown's bannermen rally behind a proposed solution. The Voice of the faith might well matter, and the citadel is not without influence, but Melara doubt the maesters will care enough to use it, most of them preferring neutrality and devotion to their studies, caring naught for what happens outside their compound.
Ser Abelar is too young and inexperienced, too impressionable and so readily admiring the likes of Lord Durwell for his charm and prowess at the list, Lord Mullendore for his wit, Septon Roswyn for his apparent deep connection to The Seven, Ser Raymun for his steady hand at organization. All men with their own agenda's, Ser Raymun now openly suggesting for House Hightower to turn it's back on everything Lord Jon worked for. What those others might want she knows not, but like as not their interests does not align with those of her grandson. Lady Rhonda merely desires to keep her son from being fought over by the pack of circling vultures each wanting a piece, but under her guidance, House Hightower will sit idly by for a decade, allowing others to determine how this pivotal time will shape the kingdoms. There is only Melara who can be trusted to guide her house down the right path.

Daeron listens intently to Lady Melara's explanation and takes mental notes of the various regent options and their strengths and weaknesses and how they would get the Hightower banners and Lord Tyrell to endorse her.
Lady Melara: Solid Blackfyre partisan and unyielding, but is a woman Ser Abelar: Young and energetic knight, but too malleable Ser Raymun: Experienced and competent knight and administrator, but is willing to betray his house for the Iron Throne Lady Rhonda: Probably won't lead House Hightower against Ser Daemon, but also won't lead her house anywhere
"Well then let us look over what advantages you have against your rivals. You have several children and are probably the most capable of arranging marriages for them, and thus arranging alliances, which includes you already betrothing Lady Alerie to Ser Willas. Perhaps there is a path through that coupling to bring Lord Leo to promoting you to regent. Beyond them, you might be able to garner support among your banners by offering hands such as Ser Abelar or Quenton to their daughters." To this he gives a subtle nod over to Lysette. "Lady Lysette and Lady Mariya are both good options for this. You also have a brother that still is the captain of the guards, meaning that he can keep an eye on the streets and control the flow of people in and out of Oldtown and keep you safe from plots to keep you from the regency." Finally, once an appropriate period of time has passed, you could seek out a new marriage for yourself? Someone like as Ser Clarent Peake or Fireball might be able to solidify support among Ser Daemon's supporters for your claim.

Marriages are not so easily agreed to without a regency in place, none in House Hightower objected to Lady Alerie's betrothal, though if it wasn't for Lord Mullendore acting the intermediary to make the Tyrells very interested, which probably means Lord Durwell had a hand in it also, it is not likely to have happened at all. It is difficult to imagine any further betrothals without a regent to place a seal on them. A remarriage for one of Melara's age is such a blatant grab for power that it is more likely to work against her than in her favor.

Lord Durwell, what’s that sly man up to? Looking to have friends in high places I suspect. Having such a man backing Ser Abelar is certain to make our goals more difficult.
He ponders further.
“Just because Lord Mullendore opened the door between Highgarden and Hightower, doesn’t mean that you can’t walk through it. See if your daughter can leverage her new connections in Highgarden to bring Lord Leo to supporting your claim
As for marriages..” he taps his fingers in thought for a moment as he works through his thoughts.
“You might not be able to betroth any members of your family at the moment, but you *can* make it clear to potential supporters that such marriages will only happen with you at the helm.
Other than that, what weapons does your armory contain?”

Primarily, she holds the advantage of being backed by those who were friends of her husband.

He nods in acknowledgment. A solid foundation, but broader support will be required as well.
Daeron thanks her for the audience and vows to visit her at Oldtown in the near future to help further her cause.
