"It is uncommon for a septon to attend such a pursuit as a Great Hunt, the host septon usually suffices for carrying out the duties of the faith." Lord Marq doesn't appear surprised at seeing Abelar though, just curious.

The septon is pleased to see Lord Durwell. During their last meeting, Abelar had pressed the man on matters of the Cordwayner lineage and the mysterious assailant who had beset the good septon. Durwell was more forthcoming on the first count, but perhaps he had learned more since their last meeting. Besides, there were other matters to attend to. Namely, Lord Merryweather's feeble attempts at courtship and how best to quash those for all time.
"My lord, the hunt came to me. And when that happens, it's best to be in the hall with the hunters rather than wandering about in the wilderness."

"Is that so?" An eyebrow raised, for Whitegrove is hardly the place to visit without purpose.

"My lord, I am a traveling septon now. I must continue to find myself at gatherings of import. Besides, I'd prefer not to let Maegelle Cordwayner stray from sight and mind." Abelar casts a jaundiced eye back at Lord Durwell. "I assume you're here for similar reasons, with the slight exception that nobody is trying to kill you yet." Abelar waves a hand. "In any case, the duties of a septon never end. I have confessions to take and blessings to give. That Gwayne Oakheart looks like a fine young man. Perhaps he would want to discuss the vows he will take soon as a knight."

"I imagine that if I did not come, people would speculate as to the reason, they would feel certain that I am staying away to signal a dislike for House Peake, as amusing as that would be, the truth is that I enjoy being where everyone else are far too much to do something like that." He chuckles and throws his arms out in the dramatic fashion he likes to do. "Though of speaking Lady Maegelle, it might interest you to know that the Cordwayners are here for the seeking of marriages"
