The ill omens begins even before Lord Willem as much as steps forward to take on one of the big nasty boars found in Lord Peake's woods, if it wasn't for Ser Aemon having a hunch and putting his lord's spear to the test and finds it to break with the slightest touch. This doesn't put him off, it's easy enough to find a spare, and this one he tests quite thoroughly. The old man's aim does leave a lot to be desired, he fails to properly hit the boar to impale it and thus most bear it's nasty gore. It is a wonder that Lord Willem manages to bring out his sword and kill the beast without too much trouble. Audience for grand boar: 9d6k7+3 36 That's a 4 DoS..wohoo. Sneak and Thievery: 6d6k4 19 4d6 9 Ser Aemon notices that Lord Willem's spear has been tampered with. Willlem and Boar: 4d6k3 13 4d6 12Set for charge: 5d6k4 13 2*8-3=15 damage Charge Willem: 7d6k4-1 17 2*8-1=15 damage Yikes, well okay now that we know the score, it's utter foolishness for a knight to *not* bring a sword. Draw Bastard sword, cautious, LBF I, -2b: 5d6k4 15 2*6-3=9 Aim+Reckless attack (fatigue to ignore injuries): 8d6k5-1 18 2*6-1=9 Aim+Reckless Attack (fatigue to ignore injuries): 10d6k6 26 4*6-3=Dead Boar. Willem: 4/12, 4 injuries, 1 fatigue Some Milk of the Poppy to ease the pain: 4d6 14 No penalty from the milk of the poppy, so -3 to other event rolls.

Furious at himself for going off to hunt his own prize rather than being present to help him, Daeron is livid at the attempt on his lord's life and relieved that he managed to survive the boar.
"I am no stranger to unorthodox tactics, but I often save mine for the joust rather than the hunt." His humor brought on by his relief quickly turned sour though.
"There is only one 'man' I can think of who would stoop so low to attempt to assassinate you my lord. His cowardly attempt on your life must not go unanswered."
Daeron didn't even both to utter Lord Eldon's name, everyone present already knew to whom he referred.

Lord Willem will hear no such talk, the attempt was discovered, and unless the one responsible is, too. Then what can be done about it? A great many things perhaps, some might say. But Willem stubbornly refuses to consider sinking to Eldon's dishonorable ways.

Daeron assures his lord that he has nothing dishonorable in mind. Perhaps a visit from a silver-tongued lord with more information on the behavior of Lord Eldon and his henchmen at this hunt would be all it took to push him over the edge though.

Roland was as delighted at his Lord's brave triumph as he was outraged by the botched attempt at skulduggery.
"Ser Aemon, your sharp eyes are again an asset to the house but in a higher cause than Highgarden's melee."
He shook his head and frowned.
"I am of one mind with Ser Daeron here. If by honourable means we can determine who is responsible for this outrage then they must answer for this crime. It is tantamount to attempted murder."
