"A nice thrust, Ser Daeron, though I suppose that is only as expected when dragon meets boar!" Lord Marq is not among the first to congratulate Daeron on his felled quarry, but his style had always been to seek conversation where possible and avoid the crowds forming around knights of renown and great bastards. It almost seems as he singled out Daeron to escape the little coterie of lords beseeching him on their daughter's behalf, perhaps that is true, even an objective observer would agree that Daeron ought to be much more interesting to him than those. An objective observer might also wonder if he might have some other reason who knows. "If you could roast it by your breath, ser, I would be amazed and awestruck, and probably back away."
I can't remember if Daeron and Marq ever met, so doing the introduction a bit ambiguous on that account.

I don't think they've had an on screen introduction, but I'm sure they've at least met in passing at one of the many tourneys or events around the Reach.
Daeron gives a respectful bow to the lord, his face revealing that his flattery had the intended effect.
"Many thanks my lord, but I assure you that if I could roast it with my breath alone I would have almost as many lords offering me their daughters' hands as you.
How has the hunt treated you thus far? Have you managed to track any worthy quarry?"

"Only because the rest of them would be too scared to approach, but that would only occur if they knew of it, ser" If Daeron could breathe fire, he would certainly not lack for offers, or he'd get lynched by a zealous mob acting out of fear. "I once heard that imbibing a cup of Wildfire would turn a man into a dragon, I inquired with the Citadel and they thought the idea very silly, I was persistent and more importantly had tourney winnings, so I persuaded them to feed some to a rat, it died, a small green flame bursting from it's mouth. Charred and roasted it's insides. I thought it best to end the experiments for the enlightenment of man on the subject of imbibing The Substance as The Pyromancers calls it after that, though they claim that those with the Blood of Valyria cannot be hurt by fire, but the accounts of The Dance disputes this"

His face beams in bemusement at Lord Marq's tale, for it certainly had to be a tale.. right?
"While it is true that the blood of dragons has its advantages, I wouldn't consent to such an experiment being attempted on myself. I am content with being called 'Wildfyre', I do not need to try my luck in becoming one with Wildfire as well."

"I shall have to live with never knowing the answer" Marq takes the decline in good spirits, but what could he have expected. "I am not so much here for hunting boar as friendships, as it happens, others wants spouses, I happened upon a rumor that ser is seeking Lady Joanna's hand?"

“You have heard correctly. I carried her favor at Whitewalls and House Peake is a prestigious family, one which I believe has much to offer me and I them.
However, Lady Johanna is not the only woman I seek to pursue. I plan to seek the hand of several highborn ladies. The more chances one takes, the better the odds that one will come to fruition, no?”

"Perhaps, but relentlessly pursuing one fruit in exclusion of all others would improve the odds of savoring it in the end, there are usually many pathways to the same end, and not always easy to sense which one happens to be the most favorable." He seems to enjoy discussing this sort of thing. "It might interest you to know that Lord Peake briefly discussed the hand of his niece with Lord Eldon, some lords will do anything for politics, but Lord Gormon decided that he won't do that, instead relying upon the Cordwayners to manage bind him to the cause, let someone else sacrifice their precious maids, hmm? Still, Ser Walgrave Waters happened to torment the poor lady about the prospect after the fact, an ill thing to do, no lady is quite like any other, but they often do take a liking to gallant knights standing up for them against such barbarisms." He offers solemnly, there is disgust in his voice, but a hint of friendly advice even so.

He frowned. His disapproval of courting Lord Eldon to join their cause was already well known in Blackfyre circles, and soon to become public, but it was the alleged abuse of a gentle maiden that really began to upset him.
“Ser Walgrave Waters, one of Lord Piggy’s new bastards to replace the last of his proper knights, no?
Perhaps this bastard and I should have a nice long talk about how a lady ought to be treated.”
The fact that it was a lady that Daeron himself was pursuing also seemed to make a difference in his desire for vengeance.

"When I was a page, Lady Margaery Tyrell would have given me a thorough scolding were I to use such a description, but yes" Marq confirms as to Ser Walgrave's identity, he appears to judge it so that trying to temper Daeron's fury is futile. "She would also give me a long lecture about 'nice long talks', but as I have observed, dragons makes their own rules of propriety, though Lady Mya puts it far more forcefully than I."

The epithet was one that Daeron had heard plenty of times growing up at Driftmark, mostly before King Aegon had legitimized him and scores of his siblings, and rarely was its use scolded. The Crownlands were certainly more civilized and developed, especially among the houses of Valyrian blood, but perhaps the Reach was more polite.
No matter, between the assassination attempt on Lord Willem and Ser Walgrave's despicable behavior, Daeron needed no other impetus for action.
"Attempting to murder lords and tormenting maidens goes far beyond describing a man for what he is." In Daeron's mind, Ser Walgrave was now just as culpable as Lord Eldon, moreso as he was an easier target to strike.
"I might not be able to spit fire, but I will make the man who spits venom so readily towards ladies suffer for his vile actions."

"Lord Peake may disapprove of that, ser." Lord Marq appears to say it mostly because honor would demand of a knight and lord to try and counsel against what Daeron appears to be set on doing, most knights and lords would be beyond disgusted by Lord Eldon and his dogs, and Marq simply appears to be among those best able to remain calm and remember what they are supposed to say in these situations.

He nods, but mostly because etiquette demands that he make a show of considering Lord Durwell’s words. Lord Peake might be upset that his opportunity to vindicate his own family was subverted, but surely Daeron could smooth things over with him easily enough.
“I appreciate your advice and insight my lord. Perhaps I could return the favor later, if there any ladies you’d like to woo or individuals you’d like a formal introduction to, let me know and I will do what I can to assist you.”

"I don't find it particularly difficult to approach others, it is odd how a few jousting victories suddenly turns you into someone everyone wants to meet." Marq does have a point there. "I do have a great many curiosities, such as how a knight rather openly in favor of Ser Daemon's claim balances the concern for this cause with the one of his companion. Ser Roland does lay claim to his brother's title as openly as some would on behalf of Ser Daemon's, but should he succeed, The Lord of Hammerhaal, in Ser Daemon's camp, will be replaced by one with a professed loyalty to the king. The companions may almost be family, as I understand it, and yet I could name a few families rent asunder over lesser disputes"

"It.. has not been easy. How can one decide between two brothers?" He asked, completely forgetting Ser Normyn.
"My invitation for Ser Roland to attend this hunt is in part out of a desire to bridge this division. If my brothers might be united in intent it would please me greatly."

"That might prove to be a difficult quest, ser" Marq ponders for a short moment. "I shall not comment on Ser Roland's inclinations, but I do not believe that the likes of Lord Gormon will so easily turn their coats and backs to Lady Maegelle and Ser Normyn, certain assurances have been given and there are influential lords intent on backing Lord Quentyn's claim. Ser Normyn is close to marriage I believe, my guess is to Lady Sybelle Oakheart, his preference is Lady Tanda, but Lord Gormon's preference would be Lady Joanna. They are trying to match Lord Quentyn and Lady Denyse to houses such as Peake and Oakheart as well, but with the threat of a declaration of bastardy hanging over them...few lords are inclined to consider such a thing." Marq doesn't seem to think what Daeron hopes for to be possible. "It might be that Ser Normyn might get Lady Tanda afterall, in exchange for Lady Denyse to be sold to Lord Eldon, thus forging a bond through Hammerhaal between Starpike and Longtable, or at least, that would be the arrangement I would seek in Ser Normyn's place, given that the efforts of Septon Abelar, the Levalle's, Ser Roland and others besides have pushed them to consider such a foul pairing to being with. And he may be crafty enough to succeed."
He sighs and shakes his head, again Daeron gets the impression that Marq is highly sympathetic to Ser Roland's cause, and disgusted with the idea of sending any lady into the clutches of Lord Eldon. "I doubt this is the place for Ser Roland to find allies"
