The morning after the melee saw Mikel sleeping in, then raising to wash himself and put on some of his finer clothes. Buckling on his sword belt he informed Harold of his intentions and after eating they mounted and took their horses out for a gentle ride which ended at the pavilions of House Blackbar. They dismounted and Harold took the reins of Mikel's horse while Mikel spoke with the men on watch. "Good morning, I am Ser Mikel of Harroway and was hoping to speak with Lady Falyse, if she would see me."

Lady Falyse happens to be quite willing to see her champion, though not too willing, even a lady whose olive skin makes almost everyone disinclined to seek her out must needs make a knight wait at least long enough not to give him any ideas.

Mikel waited patiently and took in the sights of the Blackbar camp. Hiw it was arranged, number and positions of the men at arms, even attempting to determine which pavilions belonged to who.
As his private game wore on, taking in deeper details with each go around, suddenly she was before him and everything he had been considering slipped away.
Bowing deep, "Thank you for seeing me Lady Falyse. I was honored to have worn your favor and feel my short stay in the lists did you no justice. Is there anything I could do to make amends for my failure?" Smiling, his tone is polite and friendly.

The Blackbar camp appears to be a camp like any other, it is not a particularly large one, with the knights in the Lord's service relatively few in number as can be counted by the pavilions. Falyse doesn't mind, all those other knights who also seemed interested in her favor did not perform any better. She is not shy, though guarded on account of her complexion, too many stinging remarks from the young men of the Reach having left their marks and made her more self-reliant and distant. But she does suggest with a straight face that she had heard of this wild goose that is to be found in these parts, she would be most delighted if Ser Mikel were to find one and bring her the golden feathers, the ladies of The Reach would turn green with envy at the sight of these decorating her gown. Should not that sight alone be worth whatever trouble involved in chasing that storied quarry?

Mikel raises his eye brows in amused disbelief at her tale of a goose with golden feathers. "If you golden feathers are what you want, then golden feathers are what you shall have!" Mikel gives his best smile and most Knightly bow. After rising he begins to ask Falyse about herself, what her life has been like and the things which she has interest in. He is also curious of Blackbar lands and finally how she has been enjoying her time at Whitewalls and if she truly enjoys the tournaments.

Falyse speaks rather freely about how she finds tourneys to be a very strange thing, but everyone else pretends to like them. But few people ever bother to talk to her if one looks besides boys making indecent propositions over some illusion of Rhoynish hot bloodedness or some such nonsense. Her life has been sheltered, uneventful and sort of dull, and all the books there was to read was just the maester's tomes, educational, but not very exciting. Pity that her nanny died in Falyse's first winter, she was rather old though so the passage was eased in that respect, but nobody was left to tell good stories, so Falyse had to make up her own, she was never too good at it.

What kind of stories would you best like to hear? Mikel asked, mentally noting the answer for an easy gift. Perhaps a good book woth the goose feather, though he imagined hed be creating it rather then finding an actual golden goose. Mikel asks if she has ever had the urge to travel, a natural direction for the conversation given how bored she seemed to find her life. If the thought of traveling pleases her Mikel relates as best he can some natural beauty from each of the seven kingdoms. Falyse had reason to be guarded given her life experiences, but she struck Mikel as genuine and willing to share as long as he was teuly listening.

She does have a liking to history, the real kind as set down by the maester's, preferably a bit after the fact so that whoever wrote it need not worry about incurring the wrath of the king accounted for. Although Mushroom's testimony does happen to be quite amusing.

Mikel respondes that he too has a love of history but imagines he has not read quite as much as Falyse and asks for any recommendations so that he might keep an eye open for specific works if he would be so lucky as to come across them. Then he shifts the subject slightly and asks what she will do after the tournament ends. Will they be returning home immediately or perhaps take a detour and enjoy some of the hospitality of the Riverlands?

That depends much of what sort he wants to read about. Mushroom is great for a laugh, but you can't believe anything coming out of that one's pen, The Voyages of the Oakenfist is a good read, she also likes "When Women Ruled: Ladies of the Aftermath". Pity that most lords and knights would dismiss the very ideas of women ruling altogether, men certainly doesn't do a very good job at it. She also likes anything on the Rhoynar, Queen Nymeria for example, but those are rare finds in the libraries of The Reach.

Mikel listens continues to listen careful and offer his best responses to what she says. As she speaks of the readings of powerful women he shares his experiences with just the same sort of women he had chanced to meet on his travels. Mikel enjoyed the conversation with Falyse and told her so, even saying he hoped they could enjoy one again before the time came for it to end. Bowing deeply Mikel left and found Harold standing dutifully by the horses. As they rode away Mikel gave Harold specific instructions to find just the sort of book Falyse had told him most interested her. Mikel himself rode around, asking one of two smallfolk if there was any sort of Golden Goose running around with a smile, taking their confused expressions and stifled laughs in good humor as he rode away to find a goose feather which he could cover in gold, or at least speckle with gold depending on the cost. When Harold returned to the pavilions that evening Mikel gave him one last errand, to deliver the book and golden feather to Lady Falyse Blackbar.

Finding such a book here appears mostly folly, the libraries at Oldtown would hold such books, and scribes can be commissioned to make copies, gold pleated feathers...well, perhaps better to have the goldsmiths make something custom, without the feather inside, they explain, but the craftsman present can mostly only make repairs, too dangerous to bring gold along on the road, to have something like that fashioned, he needs to be in the safety of his workshop, protected by his lord's walls. Better to go to Highgarden, King's Landing or Oldtown, though the very best craftsmen can be found at Lannisport.

Coming up empty handed and hearing the same from Harold, he and Mikel made plans to acquire them in the future, near future if possible, and see that she received them. For tonight perhaps a simple note of some humor, detailing the heroic quest Mikel and Harold would be beginning in hunting down the monstrous Golden Goose who was the protector of a hoard of exquisite books of high adventure and brilliant history. He begged her patience as he sallied forth into danger towards these objects of her thoughts affection.

The note does elicit no small amount of amusement, and a "good luck" in reply.
