Daeron wished to remain mostly clear of this debate. On one hand, Septon Abelar was an enemy of Lord Eldon and therefore a potential friend. On the other hand, his rabble-rousing threatened to empower the smallfolk and destroy the social order and strip knights such as Daeron of his privileges. On the other hand, he could not do much against the Blackwoods if he was hanging from the end of a rope either. On yet another hand, he didn't dare undermine the Blackfyre cause by condemning the Cordwayners. On the final hand, he didn't want to prevent his friend Roland from ascending to a lordship either, especially if it meant the removal of a loyalist voice from Kingsbridge. In the end he opted to speak in the general defense of the septon if for no other reason than to spite Lord Piggy, though his heart wasn't entirely into his own argument. NPC Participation: Abelar Hightower, let's see how the kiddo reacts to this all. Lady Mya Rivers delights in calling loudly for them to be bastards, because they are, everyone knows. Besides, Lady Maegelle is a horrible person AND traitorous rebel scum. Ser Abelar Hightower takes no stance on Lady Maegelle's issue or the septon, but he is very much against the Faith Militant as most knights and other nobles are. Lord Marq Durwell appears to withhold his opinion, but a man such as he would surely not allow others to shape the opinions of men without his hand being involved. NPC Participation: Lord William Redwyne. Or if not available Thaddeus Rowan.
Stances Used:
e. AYE! (They are bastards)
Maegelle and Normyn are fornicators, Quentin and Denyse are bastards!
Votes gained from tests towards this option are tallied as if you had received a +4 assist bonus on your tests from Levalle's having levied this accusation twice, and won both times.
Attractive: +1b on the challenge tests.

Septon Abelar was a danger. Parmen had spoken out against him in Oldtown and had fought a duel against Ser Jasper Flowers because of it. He had won the duel but Abelar had still escaped justice. Parmen distrusted the septon and thought that the man’s idea for recreating the Faith Militant was a recipe for chaos, something that the realm already had a surplus of. However, even enemies could work together against a common foe. Parmen was married into House Levalle and Lady Maegelle Cordwayner and Ser Normyn Flowers seemed to have declared Lord Alliser and Thaddeaus their enemies. That made them Parmen’s enemies. Ser Normyn had already lost one duel in the eyes of gods and men and responded by trying to kill or maim Thaddeus in the joust. A house as outcast as House Levalle could not let attacks like that go without a response. Parmen was uncomfortable siding with Septon Abelar but the gods (or men) had spared the septon in Oldtown, perhaps there was some good that the man could accomplish here to make up for his crimes.

NPC participation: Bloodraven - curious if this shadowy figure takes a stance on these matters. Turbulent Septon Honour Bound TN10: 3d6 12This was a matter of Cordwayner honour, of his family's very bloodline. If a bastard sat Hammerhal their storied line was extinguished, even if the Cordwayner name itself lived on. I serve our family's past and future in doing this, not myself.Turbulent Septon E TN 9/9/12/12: 3d6+4 14 2d6+4 10 4d6k3+15 28 3d6+15 24With a family member condemning House Cordwayner's leadership, Roland's reputation and words played their part in tipping the balance against Maegelle and Normyn. To remove them from Hammerhal in an honourable fashion he was conscious that he needed political support. Blackfyre's friends needed to know the adulterous pair's reputation was too tainted for them to be useful allies. Lord Rowan takes the most commonly held and least controversial stance on the questions brought up, The Faith Militant should stay in the history books. H: No Faith Militant: 6d6k4 19 6d6k4 21 8d6k5+2 25 9d6k6+2 323+3+3+4=13, 26 votes against Faith Militant

Addam had promised Roland he would not speak against his claim to the Lordship, but made no such promises on the other topics. The Faith Militant had been forced into the pages of history, where the should rightfully remain.

Lynesse knew that there were many who would destroy Septon Abelar for shining the harsh light of divine judgement on their nefarious doings. False rumours of his dalliances in the Rutting Boar gained no traction in her mind, for Ser Trystane had brought word of such falsehoods concerning another she knew to be innocent as well. Surely his doubters wished to conceal their own misdeeds, and though Lynesse was more pious than zealous, she saw great benefit in the chastening effect the specter of the Faith Militant might bring to the Reach. Turbulent Septon, Awareness TN 12, BG: 7d6k4+5 22 3 DoS Turbulent Septon, Cunning TN 12, BG, 6d6k4+5: 6d6k4+5 25 3 DoS Turbulent Septon, Persuasion TN 15, BG: 5d6k4+13 28 3 DoS Turbulent Septon, Status TN 15, BG, 6d6k4+13: 6d6k4+13 27 3 Dos 12 DoS Total and succeed on all tests= 24 votes for Abelar’s Innocence, 24 Votes for Bring Back the Faith Militant. Stances used: B. Clearly this was a trap constructed by those threatened by the holy truth! He probably didn't even fall into it! [Lynesse honestly believes this, but bluff and convince are interchangeable in her case] G. The Faith Militant must be brought back to defend the Faithful and purge the sins from the lands! [+4 to checks] Considerations for Benefits/Drawbacks: Attractive: +1b on the challenge tests. Charismatic: +1 on the challenge tests. Courteous: reduce any disposition losses by 1

Tallies (and those publicly noted to have advocated for these stances):
A. Anyone can make mistakes: 20 Jarmen Mandrake, Trystane, Daeron, Roland B. Clearly this was a trap: 16 Lynesse
C. He is fallible like everyone else: 18 Ysilla D. Parade the Hypocrite naked through the streets: 24 Eldon
For Abelar: 36 (So 12) Against Abelar: 42 (So 14)
E. They are bastards: 248+12=260 Thaddeus, Alliser, Mikel, Trystane, Aerion, Mya Rivers, Parmen, Roland F. They are not bastards: 70+14=84 Walgrave, Gormon, Normyn, Maegelle, Balon
Percentage for Bastards: 76%
G. The Faith Militant Should Return. 66+12=78 Aerion, Lynesse H. The Faith Militant Should Stay Forgotten: 85+14=99 Manfryd, Reynald, Abelar Hightower, Thaddeus Rowan, Addam
Percentage for Faith Militant: 44%
Eldon presumably was on Abelar's vindictive list already.
All characters of House Levalle are now at -5 Default disposition with the Cordwayners (Thaddeus at -6 and Alliser at -5, Parmen at -3) Balon: +2 disposition from Cordwayners Mikel, Trystane, Aerion: -2 Disposition from Cordwayners Lynesse: -2 Disposition with Eldon and -1 with Kyra
Thaddeus, Alliser, Mikel, Trystane, Aerion, Mya Rivers, Parmen, Roland are now added to the vindictive trigger of any Cordwayner having that drawback.
NPC to NPC changes not listed here. Dispositions for everyone updated in narrator records.
