Occurs right after this - greatbastards.boards.net/thread/1154/p2-investigating-lord-mandrake-whitewalls
After Trystane takes his leave of Mikel and Roland, he makes a point of skirting past the Mandrake contingent on his way back to his own tent. Just for a quick look, to get the lay of the land. It might not be suitable for him to investigate that closely, but he wanted to try and spot any servants, particularly any attractive women, and ideally see if any left the encampment and what route they took. If he could pull this off, it would be some fun spying indeed. One could learn a lot from pillow talk. One just had to make sure they chose the right pillow. Don't get ahead of yourself, Sand. You need to scout the place and find someone suitable first. And careful you don't get caught. He makes his way around the perimeter as casually as he can, glancing between the tents to try and discern the movement of the staff. Investigating Lord Mandrake - Stealth (Sneak): 4d6k3 18(Let me know if I need to roll anything else)

None pays Trystane any mind as far as he can tell.
Awareness (Notice) would be the thing.

Lord Jarmen's company is mostly his brothers, his knights, their squires and men at arms to guard their horses, arms, armor and coin. There are some washerwomen, though such folk are as like to be from some village as the castle itself. Trystane does spy the handmaids of Lady Jeyne, now mostly idle after Lord Jarmen had pushed his sister through the doors of the Motherhouse, neither catches the eye much. Either one of those, and probably the knights and squires too, would have some idea if what Mikel heard was true.

He collars the first squire that comes sauntering out, giving the lad a cheery smile.
"Hey, lad, c'mere a minute. Got a favour to ask. There's coin in it for you," he says in a slightly hushed voice, beckoning the squire over.
Leaving it there because I don't want to assume success. Let me know if I need to roll. Also, a brief description of the handmaidens would be useful for the next step. They don't need to be terribly detailed, just an idea of their general appearances.

Most squires are interested in coins, although from some Dornish bastard? Probably a favor to be denied, but no harm in finding out for sure, is there?

Trystane presses ten stags into the squire's palm and points in the direction of the handmaidens, getting the lad to follow his gaze.
"See those handmaidens over there? I want you to go over to them and tell them I'd like a quick word. Be discreet. People could get the wrong idea otherwise. There's another ten for you after I've spoken to them."

No harm in asking them, the squire reasons and goes to ask. It apparently takes some haggling, as the women has little interest in some Dornishman, but the offer of a share of the reward does the trick, or so it would be reasonable to assume.

Gauging their lack of interest in him, he reroutes his plan to be more direct - offering money for information. No night in the cups or pillow talk from these two, but no matter. Getting information on Madalin was more important.
He still turns on the charm for them though, hoping to soften them up to him. He spins them a (mostly true) story about his friend's wife who is missing, only embellishing the story Mikel told him enough to make it fit with his request.
"Madalin was last seen with Lord Jaremy, and has not been seen since. Her husband is deathly worried about her and just wants her home. I'm sure neither of you would want to be kept from your beloved against your will. If you could find it in your hearts to help me bring her back to him, we would owe you a great debt... say, to the tune of fifty stags each?"
Would you like me to roll Charm for this? If so, do Attractive, Charismatic, or Chivalry apply? He's willing to go higher on the amount if the help/info is good enough.

Help him how? Madalin is at Castle Deeproot, besides, she wants for nothing in Lord Mandrake's service, why should she give that up? While they have pity in their hearts for the poor friend of Trystane's, what should they do? Drag her out if she refuses to go? Though they are somewhat surprised at how a knight of such renown from down south would know him at all. They could ask her of course, there would be no harm in that, and should she agree, they should be able to arrange a meeting, on the next full moon, say, at the burnt Weirwood, everyone at Deeproot knows where that is, would need coin for bribes to make it all happen. Deception(bluff): 4d6k3 13 Against naive, that suffices to keep Trystane from seeing the clues of their own untruthfulness.

"Nevertheless, he took what was not his and has desecrated a holy covenant, regardless of how he may dress it up. She may just be complying out of fear. You need not 'drag' her anywhere, but if you could just convince her to meet with her husband at this weirwood. If she truly doesn't want to return to him, he at least deserves to know it from her, in person."
Trystane was too caught up in making the heartfelt case that it did not occur to him that the women could be misleading him. He only pulled out his coinpurse.
"How much do you need for the bribes?"
Am I allowed to roll Bargain or something to try not to get gouged?

300 Stags should suffice, spread among the two women and the squire who must be made part of the conspiracy by necessity. They can certainly be very persistent in their attempts of persuasion.
Can do simple intrigue with bargain against TN 8 for slashing 10% off the price per DoS.

DFM - Bargain with women TN8: Persuasion (Bargain) +Char +Att: 4d6ro1k4+1 162 DoS = 20% 240 stags total, but am choosing to offer a bonus because they asked for less than I was expecting, and I think it fits with how Trystane would do this with the results of the Naive drawback.
"Tell you what, I'll give you two hundred and forty stags now, and if the meeting goes through without any of the aforementioned unwanted interference, I'll give you another ninety once the meeting is concluded. Deal?"
