Sir Quentyn Ball himself! Once more would Roland face one of the finest military minds in the Reach, and no slouch with the lance either. It may not have been politic to admit it, but despite Fireball's inappropriate outbursts Roland found much to admire in a knight who would set aside his own wife out of a thwarted desire to serve his King. If the tales were true, the man had been ill treated, although not all tales men told were true. Whether a positive judgement of such fervour to join the Kingsguard and set aside one's family spoke well of Roland himself was best left to the Seven. Fireball is a capable lance, though not a tourney knight of Roland's caliber.

Roland's performance has inept by the high standards he had set in previous jousts, repeatedly failing to master his steed. v Quentyn Ball N,EF;SiS;CyB: 6#8d6k4+8 31 23 27 31 22 29 6#6d6k4+1 20 16 9 19...- in danger in passes 3 and 6 with SiS results of 9 and 10 respectively. Will use Blood of the Andals on a joust roll if it boosts Roland to 4 DoS due to opposing tactics or 3 DoS and against High in the Saddle, or if it keeps Roland in his Saddle. Fireball does not live up to his reputation, though Roland certainly does, unseating his foe on the first pass. Fireball N: 3#6d6k4+4 20 22 23 3#6d6k4+1 17 11 16 3#4d6 6 19 14Full Plate+Superior Courser

Roland acknowledged the crowd as he dismounted, but his mind was plagued by the strange visions that had plagued him ever since he faced Ser Sandor.
Glimpses of Fireball regaining control and casting Roland down in a couple of passes filled his head. Childhood failures of horsemanship reared their head, old mistakes that Ser Gurney corrected years ago authored his defeat in this prophecy of a life unlived. Tearing off his his helm and passing it to Hugh he fumbled for his Seven pointed star necklace, lobstered steel gauntlets and gorget making the task a heroic challenge.
Could prayer drive off whatever malady afflicted him?
He nodded respectfully at Ser Quentyn - mayhap his life would be easier and the rewards greater if he embraced life as one of the champions among the King's supporters, but Roland was not such a man. For the moment, personal regard came before politics.
