Balon had defeated his friend Ser Addam for the favor of Lady Lyanna but he still managed to grumble when the second round pairings were announced. He gets Ser Wyman Cox and I get Lord Fossoway? Why the fuck did I even pay those mummers? No matter, Lord Jaime is good but his best years are behind him. Hopefully for Balon his best years still lay ahead. Balon opted to wear his original full plate, deciding it'd become his standard tourney armor from here on out. By doing so it remained in good condition and regular polishing had made it gleam in the sun. With his golden armor and black-horned helm Balon used the match to reveal his newly painted shield, his personal sigil a mix of House Blackbriar, Ball, and Peake. Balon felt a tinge of guilt as he dipped his lance and nodded to Lyanna Florent. His shield and good luck charm were both the work of Lady Laena. Lord Jaime might have more reason to be disgruntled, if he was going up against a more skilled jouster, it should at least be someone of higher esteem.

Two broken lances each after two passes, but Ser Balon was well ahead of his lordly opponent in the eyes of most learned judges. v Balon P1-2: 2#5d6k3+6 14 20 6d6k4-2 19 4d6k3 11v Balon P2 SiS;Cyb: 6d6k4-2 18 4d6k3 10PR: 19 AR: 10 Health: 11/11

Assuming he doesn't change tactics. PR: 19 AR: 10 HP: 12/12 Full Plate Superior Courser Superior Shield Superior Long Sword __________________________________________________ Balon had wobbled on his first pass, blaming his aforementioned guilt but he put it aside for his following passes. Feel guilty all you like, you'd look like a fool to Lyanna and Laena if you lost. Lord Jaime was no push-over so Balon's plan was to wear him down.

The matter was in Balon's favour after three passes, yet still tight enough to be ruled a draw. However, quality will eventually win out and if the combatants chanced further passes then Balon would eventually dismount his veteran opponent. v Balon P3-6: 4#5d6k3+6 22 22 16 18 4#6d6k4-2 14 16 10 13 4#4d6k3 5...[OOC: I think it stops after three passes as a narrow draw? greatbastards.boards.net/thread/1020/tourney-format"First, three tilts will be made, should one rider unhorse the other, or one break more lances than the other, he will be declared the winner. Otherwise there will be a draw. -During the first three rounds, a draw means that both jousters may usually proceed as there are always some who cannot continue despite winning, if one jouster achieves 3 more DoS over his opponent, he is awarded the victory (and wins the ransom), in which case his opponent is typically eliminated."]

Balon may be the better jouster and while riding more solidly, a draw is awarded with no victor.
Just three passes with 4-2 in DoS means straight draw.

Balon held the edge after three passes but not enough to be declared the winner. A victory and the accompanying ransom would've been nice after the hard fought duel with Ser Addam but advancing to the next round was what mattered in the end. He rode up to Lord Jaime and saluted him, "Well done my lord and good luck to you in the next round."
With his jousting done for the day it was time to see what his friends were up to. He'd heard the most absurd rumor that Wildfyre was going to joust Lord Eldon. How interesting.
