The list of champions at Ashford was impressive. It contained the Black Tourney's second place finisher Ser Roland and semi-finalist Ser Titus. There was the aging but still formidable Lord Owen. And of course one of the greatest jousters of all time Lord Leo the Longthorn. Balon didn't lament the pairing of him verse Longthorn, there was no shame in losing to him but Balon didn't want to lose his helm. Lord Leo had already collected Gormon and Lancel's helm and almost secured Lord Addison's. His best bet was to weather the storm and see if he could surprise Leo after a couple of passes. Balon might be set upon keeping his helm and weather the storm, The Longthorn appears to have other ideas.

Shouldn't that be +6 since Show-off is a -2 modifier. Meaning pass 1 and 2 would be 27s so I keep my helm and my seat?

What Balon didn't want to happen, happened on the very first pass. He rocked back in his saddle and while he didn't fall he made it to the end of the tilt sans a helm. He could have yielded then and there but pride got the better of him. Fuck that. He held his hand out for another lance beofre spurring his horse on again knowing Lord Leo was far too chivalrous to do anything nefarious. His aim wasn't as good as his first pass and his horsemanship was worse. Lord Leo delivered another hard blow and Balon fell from his horse, rolling to a stop. He stood up under his own power and nodded to Lord Leo. "Well fought, my lord." My head is going to hurt like a motherfucker come morning.
