It was with a heavy heart that Daeron picked up the gauntlet against Ser Addam who was standing in for Lady Lynesse. He had no desire to fight a friend and fellow Companion, but he had already pledged to fight in Ashara's memory honor dictated that he not withdraw his offer. Lady Lynesse's words were clearly not the most appropriate for the occasion, and Daeron disagreed with them based on his own Valyrian chauvinism of seeing the Dornish and Andal races as equally inferior to the Blood of the Dragon, but they also didn't merit more than the ritual bloodletting that was expected.
Daeron will be going for First Blood PR: 19 CD: 12 AR: 11 Health: 12/12 W/I/F: 0/0/0 Answering Insults vs Addam-N; SiS; CYB: 6d6k4+4 24 6d6k4+1 25 4d6 15Answering Insults vs Addam-Init: 4d6k3-2 7

For a moment he looked to press his advantage atop Ember, if only the blackguard Rennifer Waters hadn’t enjoyed such an advantage himself earlier. Easily sliding down from his horse, he draws his sword and charges wildly into Ser Addam’s waiting embrace.

Ser Addam's blow was no tickle, just a little bit harder and his aim might have not been so true, but the gods were with Daeron this day as he drew first blood against his friend, and fortunately their duel was over almost as quickly as it began. Helping his cousin back to his feet, Daeron lifted the visor on his helm and nearly whispered to him.
"I think that's enough bloodletting for today. I've got a full bag of wine in my room and some empty glasses. Everyone's point has been made, let us retire and let Ashara's family continue to mourn in peace."

Adam clasp his cousin on the shoulder. “Let us make haste then.”
As the two took their leave, Addam spied Lynesse in the crowd. He offered her an apologetic look, but what did she really expect? He wasn’t going to risk life and limb for a lady he didn’t know. And who knows, maybe Roland was right. Maybe the gods really do care about these fights and the dual had simply been rigged from the start.
