He was familiar with Lord Marq and his sworn sword Ser Manfryd from the lists at Ashford Meadows and remembers the jousts of the two other Durwell brothers at Highgarden. Ser Garth was a competent knight and a handsome favorite at that - but overshadowed by his brother Marq in all aspects. Lady Daena had jested all those months ago about wanting to see someone beat her brothers, if Titus could best Ser Garth he was only one brother short of granting her wish. Ser Garth is very much overshadowed by his brother, but Titus must still stay sharp.

A little demon had begun whispering in Titus' ear. The demon Pride. He'd unhorsed the Lord of Kingsbridge in the first pass and yes he owed the crowd something special as recompense - perhaps if he attempted what The Longthorn had made a staple at so many tournaments, to pluck the helm of every opponent he faces. Perhaps that would mend the Old Lord's wounds, perhaps that would please the crowd. And perhaps it would bring the glory the little demon whispered of.

In the Reach Garth was a storied name, a royal name. Titus's own squire bore the name after all. Ser Garth Durwell looked every inch the capable knight that he was. Possessed of land and status, he was well armoured and horsed, albeit lacking the exquisite armour and Fossoway steed of some of the tournament's participants. Facing a champion of Titus's prodigious skill, Garth would need to live up to the most illustrious of those he shared a name with. Sadly for Garth, such was not to be. In the first pass his lance snapped against the corner of his foe's shield, not even enough to make the man flinch. Still, while his blow was worthy of Garth the Squire he kept himself firm in the saddle like Garth the King. Perhaps Garth over compensated in the second pass, for while he landed a more solid blow this came at the cost of his seat. Placing a blow like Garth the Kingly but riding like Garth the Squire was a swift route to the dirt. The son of House Durwell was sent flying from his seat in spectacular style, prompting a great cheer from the gathered crowd. Lady Daena's wish had come another step closer. Ser Garth's wish for finer arms and armour had taken a step backwards. v Titus P1-3: 3#5d6k3+4 17 19 17 3#6d6k4 19 9 17 3#4d6 19 12 18
