Brave Lord Boremund Harlton manages at least to break two lances against the mighty Redtusk, but he only keeps his seat the first time. Lord Arryn manages exactly the same against Ser Robb Reyne. The much anticipated re-match between Ser Daemon Blackfyre and Ser Rennifer Waters ends the way everyone thinks it should have ended the first time. On the first pass, Ser Rennifer misses cleanly, to his credit he did aim for Ser Daemon and not the horse this time. After the second pass, he ends up sprawling in the mud. Just as it should be. The Blackguard will have no further appearances in this joust and the question of how a fair fight would have ended has been established. The only ones left disappointed at the outcome would be those who had personally hoped for a piece of Ser Rennifer at the list, and those who had hoped for him to at least get hurt. Some in the crowd feels that the second most match of the joust is a little bit disappointing, for the first three tilts, Ser Sebaston Rowan and Ser Simon Tarly goes relatively easy on one another, neither appearing particularly interested in risking an early exit, after securing the draw after three passes ensuring that both proceed to the next round, both jousters explode with terrific lancework on the fourth tilt, promising the match that had been advertised only to have a swift end with Ser Simon sprawled on the ground on account of horrific horsemanship. Ser Sebaston may claim the highly coveted favor of Lady Daena Roxton to wear. Ser Simon storms off the field in a black mood. Ser Oswyn Erenford miss his second lance against Ser Karyl Vance, though his aggressive last ditch effort does not unseat his opponent, Ser Karyl's cautious approach makes him miss his lance and both men proceeds. Ser Humfrey Harding and Ser Terrence Harlton break all their lances against one another, both proceeding without much fuss. Ser Donnel of Duskendale breaks his lances, but fails to keep his seat on the second pass against Ser Quentyn Ball. Any who have speculated that Ser Normyn might have challenged Ser Thaddeus on account of his previous clashes with House Levalle would find themselves vindicated by the viciousness on display in his charge, aiming for Ser Thaddeus head, to his credit the heir of House Levalle manages to get through the first tilt with a broken lance, though Ser Farman quips that he must have been knocked bad enough to the head if he doesn't know to quit. The second charge is much the same, but leaves Ser Thaddeus limp on the ground. The crowd holds their breath until the maester signals that he remains alive, jeers and taunts fly from the crowd, Riverlanders has no such foul taste in the mouth when it comes to Levalle's. Lady Alannys is not so pleased to give him her favor to wear than she ordinarily would have been, but she grants it to him nonetheless. Ser Aemon Flowers have no problem getting past his first hurdle, Ser Alan Harlton, being that hurdle, have much more trouble not getting knocked over. Ser Preston Oakheart similarily progresses without knocking out Ser Sandor Whent Lord Gormon delivers three stellar blows, but Lord Glendon Hewett answers with equally excellent horsemanship. Ser Rufus Thorne, among those considered having a good chance of making it past the first three rounds instead finds himself on the ground after the second pass against Ser Byren Flowers, the knights of The Reach will not be able to simply brush all competition from elsewhere aside. Ser Tommard Heddle is viciously battering Ser Alvyn Strickland for the favor of Lady Alysanne Butterwell, Ser Alvyn manages to keep his seat and weather the pressure, but it seems likely that the blow sustained to his shoulder on the second pass contributed to his miss on the third. Lord Manfred Lothston, whispered to have cheated his way far into the Tourney of Highgarden opens this one with the unhorsing of Blackbriar's sour captain of the guards. Ser Abelar Hightower and Ser Glyn Keath break each of their three lances and keeps their seats, both progressing forward, but neither man impressing anyone. One of the more anticipated matches of this round, a re-match from Highgarden between the two Great Bastards and rivals for the affections of Shiera Seastar, or at least her favor. It begins promising with the customary show of animosity instead of gallant salutes. The jousting is honorable, which might have been disappointing for those hoping for a grudge match if not for both knights being unhorsed on the first tilt. Now it is down to swords, and only the winner may proceed. They might have been evenly matched if not for Dark Sister, the Valyrian Blade dancing from exposed part to exposed part where Bittersteel's blade hammers down on Bloodraven's shield with fury. In the end, Ser Aegor realizes that he is beaten and yields to the last man in the seven kingdoms he would want to submit to. He turns his back to the further humiliation of Lady Shiera giving her favor to his rival to wear. Ser Aubrey Ambrose and Ser Symon Starkwood break their lances and keeps their seats, both progressing. Ser Jasper Flowers unhorses Ser Bryan Paege on the first tilt. By some twist of fate, the brother of Ser Jasper, Lord Walgrave faces the brother of Ser Bryan. Though Walgrave would be quick to point out that Ser Jasper is only his half-brother, if even that. Nevertheless, Ser Theomore fares no better than his brother. Ser Loren Lannister needs only two tilts against Ser Gregor Haigh to demonstrate himself as a capable jouster, worthy of bearing his lady's favor. Ser Eustace Daverhyl and Ser Jaime Keath each breaks three lances and keeps their seats. Loud jeers and calls for the pig to get skewered from the benches of the Reachmen is suddenly replaced by sullen silence as Lord Eldon unhorses Ser Stannis Mandrake on the first tilt, shortly followed by accusations of Ser Stannis having thrown the match for Merryweather gold. Lords Florent and Piper breaks all their lances and keeps their seats in an unimpressive display. A few notable jousters finds a much earlier exit than expected, among them Ser Harbert Paege The Serpent Knight, Ser Victarion Rivers The Krakenbeast, Lord Dunstan Shawney and Lord Marlon Manderly. Others joining them in the stands for the next round that are noteworthy for their station if not ability includes Lord Patrek Vance, Lord Vortimer Hawick, Lord Barristan Strickland and Ser Marq of Kingsbridge.

A brother scorned, Lord Jarmen Mandrake had no sooner heard of Lord Farman's nightly activities than he had slapped him in the face, with a mailed glove. Letting it fall to the Great Bastard's feet. That was for taking advantage of his sister. But what else could one expect from the spawn of the vilest of abominations? Lord Jarmen makes no acknowledgement of his opponent, nay foe, as he readies himself to face him in the joust, he deigns him not with as much as a glance as they present themselves for Lord Butterwell. His anger and sheer aggression gets the better of him and he is unhorsed on the fourth tilt. A draw after three tilts would usually allow him to proceed, but this time not.
