Ser Aemon stands alone with the septon between the altars to The Father and The Mother, each adorned with three rows of brightly lit candles, as Lord Willem leads his daughter across the seven-walled room of the Castle Sept of Kingsbridge that is packed to capacity with all the guests, had Lord Willem received the tourney he had truly wanted, many a knight and lady would feel snubbed at having to stand outside in the summer drizzle.
As they come before Septon Arlan he leads them through prayers and vows and singing. A small change in the traditional ceremony is observed, as Lady Lysette keeps her cloak of Starling colors, instead Lord Florent unclasps his own silver fox on red, so that Lysette might lovingly replace it with one where the fox his quartered with Starling color, lined with red dragons on black. And then they exchange the the kiss and accompanying words sealing the ceremony
- "With this kiss I pledge my love, and take you for my lord and husband." - "With this kiss, I pledge my love, and take you for my lady and wife."
As they kiss, the septon raises his crystal high so that the rainbow light falls down upon them.
"Here in the sights of gods and men, I do solemnly proclaim Ser Aemon of Houses Florent and Targaryen and Lysette of House Starling to be man and wife, one flesh, one heart, one soul, now and forever, and cursed be the one who comes between them."
Once the formalities needed to satisfy The Seven Who Are One are over with, husband and wife leads the procession with the smallfolk having shown up in force to gloat and cheer, the companions forming an honor guard with blades raised high for the pair to pass under on their way down the steps of the sept. Then it is off to the Great Hall for a proper celebration and later a consummation, most had been looking much more forward to those things than the ceremony in the sept.

As the day had drawn to an end Titus had stood Champion in Kingsbridge, having earned his seat from its Lord himself. When it was the time for toasts and speeches Titus stood for a short while, speaking of the virtues of chivalry and importance of honour in days such as this. A speech many had heard many times before, yet seemed somehow to ring true with those who wished for a a return of those days of yore. As the more bawdy event of the evening; The Bedding, was to take place, Titus remained in his seat choosing to enjoy the spectacle from afar. Trystane loves weddings. They are one of the times to see people at their best, and to forget for a while the creeping darkness of the world. Also, they are great excuses for wild partying. This occasion is no exception, seeing the Dornish upstart take heartily to the revels of the day, already tipsy by the time the dancing starts. By the speeches, he is visibly merry. By the bedding, he is thoroughly drunk. He keeps his toast short, sweet, and simple, owing to being a little too far into his cups for elegance. "My most heartfelt compliments to the bride and groom, our most gracious hosts, to all who have said such lovely things about them before me, and will say lovely things after me," he gushes. "Whatever may separate us elsewhere, we can all be united by love." With that, he gets back to making merry. He forgets that he had put himself on the list to make a speech, and realises as he is given the floor that he's forgotten what he had wanted to talk about it the first place. He casts his eyes around and quickly goes for the first thing he can think of. [Speechifying of some persuasion in here] He at least manages to be relatively charming as he mingles and dances, not as graceful and erudite as he might have been with less booze, but at least he doesn't stand on anyone's feet or say anything terribly inappropriate. When the call for the bedding goes up, Trystane cheers raucously, and is among the first to join in to help Lysette out of her gown. Despite her beauty and his drunkenness, the part of him that remembers her mistreatment at Summerhall keeps him from taking any liberties, instead only making the odd ribald joke as the newlyweds are swept along to their bed. He even manages, a little slurringly, to sincerely tell Lysette she is beautiful and that he hopes she and Willem have fun.

Here at last was the wedding between his half-brother, Ser Aemon, and his cousin, Lady Lysette. Although at one point Daeron imagined himself up there, but with Lysette’s problematic political views and strong will, she would be a difficult wife to control. Anyway, Ser Aemon seemed a worthy suitor and future leader for House Starling. For once he didn't dwell on what he didn't have, there were other horses in the stable and with the realm on the verge of dividing itself, a strong knight such as himself would be in high demand by maidens and their families alike. As the wedding carried on, toasts were offered, speeches given, and when it came to the wedding and bedding he joined in, if for no other reason than to make sure that no handsy knights would take any liberties with his cousin and liege lord's daughter. Lord Gormon honors the groom, the bride, The Florents, the father of the bribe as is only proper, each in that order more important to honor in his eyes than the last. Lady Ysilla frequently finds excuses to go outside when there's long-winded speeches to be had, doing who knows what, she dances happily and jests and finds all sorts of fun to indulge herself in, exchanging banter with Aemon as he gets bedded, making poor Lady Jeyne blush profusely by whispering in her hear that she maybe should please the groom with her hands to make him ready for his big performance.

He was impressed with the ceremony and the Companions outdid themselves as an honor guard for the new couple. At the Great Hall Balon gave a toast. It was a little contrived but most of it was true. "Ser Aemon is a chivalrous knight with a keen intelligence and a martial prowess few can match. I can think of no one better to be the future Lord Protector of Kingsbridge." He turned his attention to Lady Lysette. Keep it short and honest. " To the Lady Lysette, one of the Reach's great beauties whose thirst for knowledge would put a grand maester to shame."
When people started to give speeches Balon felt compelled to remind people of House Starling's past and how they stood shoulder to shoulder with the Oakhearts driving the Dornish scum back south of the Red Mountains. "House Starling has a proud tradition of keeping the Dornish horde at bay." Balon would reference the great Willem Starling, a member of Aegon the Conquerer's Kingsguard, as well as the current Willem Starling and his heroic actions fighting the vile Dornish just a few years ago. "A House committed to defending the Reach and everything it stands for." A not so subtle hint that the Starlings would be better suited to fighting for Daemon Blackfyre should he ever rebel. As the night progressed Balon made an attempt to find Lady Laena but it seemed every time he tried to find her another person interrupted him. Patrek Florent demanded he share a drink and have him retell the story of how Ser Aladore was saved. Lady Lyanna (Florent) asked for several dances and listened attentively as he described how he saved Lady Lyanna (Levalle) from the Mander. Once he'd made it through all the Florents his brother, Addam, and Daeron challenged him to an arm wrestling contest which Balon would never say no to. Balon conveniently ran into Lord Walgrave and talked about his sister Delia and all of her wonderful qualities. "A man would be lucky to have someone like her." That man being Ser Preston if Balon had anything to say about it. Finally Balon was able to focus on finding Laena but she was nowhere to be found. His shoulders slumped a little, he'd looked forward to spending some time with her. Oh well, it's late. She's probably turned in for the night. There's always tomorrow. Balon went back to the party and Lady Sybelle caught his eye. It looks like she needs a dance. She wasn't Laena but she'd have to do for now.

Lynesse enjoyed the festivities immensely, taking the opportunity to make and renew friendships with the Starlings many eminent guests. When it was her turn to give a speech, her words supported the traditional virtues of the Reach, and of House Starling, which happened to coincide with the views and arguments of many of those who supported Daemon Blackfyre. Still, it was a speech calling for a return to high minded ideals, and acknowledging those virtues in the happy couple, rendering it less offensive or aggressive in the ears of those who were not prone to agree. "All that is good is these seven kingdoms is best in the Reach. The rich crop of of Westerosi chivalry finds its first and greatest harvest here, in these lands, and we see that here tonight, among the many great knights of the Companions and House Starling, and their firm friends and allies from throughout the Reach. As the farmer builds up his barns and storehouses against storms and vermin, and waters his grains while the sun shines, let us do the same. Let us celebrate our noble houses, our chivalrous knights, and our ancient traditions and encourage the planting of these selfsame virtues throughout the land. Where time and misdeeds have weakened them, let them be renewed, and where they have been cast aside in favour of copper-counting and ruthlessness let them be taken up again, beating the ploughshare into the sword as needs be. "To Ser Aemon and Lady Lysette of House Starling. Long may Lord Starling reign. Unlike many of the men at Kingsbridge, Ser Roland had never sought Lysette's hand and congratulations therefore came to him easily. Offer a toastWeddding at Kingsbrdige - Offer a toast TN 15: 4d6k3+11 27- 3 DoS - Gain +1 disposition with bride and groom (cannot be moved past +5). House Starling esteemed honour and strength of arms, and these were Roland's chief virtues. His chief vices too, according to some seasoned courtiers. He spoke of duty and chivalry, seeking to tie such to his status as one of the tournament's champions and the sacred bond between man and wife. He built on this, noting that knights have a duty to take action when wrongs are done. Given the testimony against Lady Maegelle Cordwayner, given Ser Normyn's loss in a duel of honour over the parentage of the Cordwayner heirs and the scandal that it fell to Lady Alicent to inform Roland of his brother's death, who can doubt that something is ill at Hammerhall? "Such was not the good lady' duty, but it relieved me of the excuse of ignorance. Just as Ser Aemon and his wife now have a duty to one another, so too do we nobles present have a duty to maintain the sacred traditions and bloodlines of the Reach."
