Lord Ashford breaks three lances against Lord Willem's shield, and withstanding two stellar strikes until his luck runs out and he is unhorsed by the third. Lord Starling commends him on his fine performance. Those with good eyes might note that a slightly better jouster could have seriously threatened an upset on the second tilt, is Lord Starling starting to show weakness on his older days?

Lord Leo Tyrell needs just the one tilt against Lord Lancel to have the makings of a collection, one of his squires are quickly put at work hammering down a second stick in the ground to mount his newest trophy next to a similar arrangement carrying Lord Peake's helm. Lord Walgrave Oakheart puts up a somewhat awful display, missing two lances completely against Lord Gwayne, an easy victory for the groom. For seven tilts Lord Willem and Ser Aerion goes, with both being close to striking the victorious blow before finally Lord Willem manages to place such a well placed strike as to unseat his young challenger. Lord Gwayne faces Lord Perwyn Ambrose, needing only two tilts to unhorse him, he in turn is not threatened by his opponent. Lord Addison misses his first lance against Lord Leo who fails to take his third helm, grumblingly having to leave the third post without a trophy, but he does add another shield to his collection. The upset of the round is delivered by Lord Roxton, for six tilts he and Lord Starling breaks their lances until Lord Willem makes a very poor strike, missing Lord Owen's shield by just enough of a whisker to fail to break. Lord Willem charges furiously for the last two passes hoping to throw his opponent off the saddle to claw back the champion's position that is slipping out of his grasp. On the eight pass he almost succeeds. On the ninth pass, he almost pays the price of taking on such risk. In the end, he must concede defeat. Ser Balon Fossoway manages a respectable 5 broken lances before being unhorsed by Lord Gwayne. The Longthorn unhorses Ser Jaremy Tarly on the first tilt. A somewhat poor display by Lord Armond sees him miss his second lance and be unhorsed by Lord Gwayne on the second tilt. Ser Loras Durwell gets past the first tilt against the Longthorn, but after the second he holds an unbroken lance in his hand and finds himself without a helm, promptly yielding. Lord Mullendore only just misses the shield of Lord Gwayne on the first tilt, his next two connects, the groom's aim is more capable, and thus Lord Gwayne is only one match away from remaining the champion.
