"A black fox... sinister... on a field of gold! It's too good to be true, isn't it?" his laughter is soft and contagious for those listening, holding up a medallion with the Levalle coat-of-arms he continues. "That wasn't always our seal though, d'you know that? No why would you! Most people wouldn't even be able to place The Tear on a map if it wasn't for the fact that the Mander has to start somewhere. Only smugglers and pirates know about The Tear! Thieves and liars and cutthroats, no? I'll have you know," he says with feigned indignancy "that some of the best men and women I've known have been thieves and liars... and that's in polite society!" Thaddeus has carefree and familiar way about him, putting one at ease as if to say that nothing is really that serious.
"But no, no, no. It was my great grandfather, Lord Robert Levalle that adopted the sigil. Before that it was something dreadfully proper. Something about a shield, crossed swords and a river or something of that sort. Symbolising things such as... duty, guarding the way...knowing your place. What you might expect of landed knights." he takes another drink "Mmmm, Robert Levalle died a lord but was born a knight. Son of Ser Barristan Levalle, the knight of The Tear and it was he who when having ascended chose the black fox." Deftly playing with the medallion between his fingers he smiles. "You have to admire the arrogance and the honesty in it. Robert Levalle knew what he was and what people said of him. Why hide?"
Turning just enough to offhand adress a pretty little thing sitting near him "I don't believe in hiding, simply can't be good for you."
As the evening carries on, Thaddeus does not do very much hiding, no. This was his element and so he weaves between lords, knights and ladies alike. Making jokes, proposing dares, dancing and flirting - much more so than what propriety might tolerate.
