It is only fitting that in the tenth year into the reign of King Daeron II, and the fifth of the final peace with Dorne, the keys to his new palace of Summerhall can be officially handed over to him by Tom Builder, a master of his craft with a true passion for it. The King has spent many a moon already, as the royal apartments have been finished for years, but the great hall have until now been unfit for holding proper court and receptions. Built near the intersect of Dorne, The Stormlands and the Reach, in a beautiful green and hilly landscape with majestic snow-capped peaks on the eastern horizon, it is a place of marvel, once the Warrior's Son's had a stronghold here, a great wooden keep of which King Maegor the Cruel had left naught but ashen grounds. Made a royal fief, an act not undone by King Jaeharys, and for over a hundred years, the Shepherds of Blackhaven would have their flocks graze here during the summers, with a fifth of the wool being the King's due.
The king have little desire to celebrate his own accomplishments with a grand tourney, perhaps he should have, a martial man he may not be, but many a lord and knight might be more endeared to him should he publicly show a higher regard for chivalrous pursuits. Instead, Queen Mariah has filled Summerhall with music, mummers, flowers and a multitude of colored lanterns for the festivities to come, though with the place of honor afforded to the likes of the Prince of Dorne and the Bloodroyal of Yronwood, there are many lords and knights that finds excuses for being unable to attend.
