A number of characters involve themselves in the discussions, Mya Rivers, naturally, ridiculing everyone who thinks talking somehow makes Farman worth a damn, Ysilla ineffectively argues for that what Lord Bryce wanted matters more than some Bitter old man, never mind him being little more than twenty, he acts like an old cranky man swimming so far out of his wits that he thinks himself young again. If it wasn't for Lord Durwell doing as he has long grown accustomed to in his way of swaying opinions, the two great bastards may have ruined Ser Desmond's cause by accident by their anger and sass, naturally he should involve himself given his long history with Lord Bryce, the man who had fostered him and given him his spurs back in the day. Lord Marq surely ought to voice his opinion that not only had Lord Bryce laid his plan more than a decade ago, it is also by far the best solution going forward.
Unsurprisingly, Lord Walgrave Oakheart is not far away when there are half-Dornish to deride, Helicent Cockshaw, the neighbor makes a not too well received statement extolling the virtues of Lord Bryce magnanimity and how the welcome and high spirits that Lord Bryce was known for have been dulled to a grey and how Ser Farman would be a far better successor. Ser Farman himself knows better than to directly put his name forward, but instead attempts to cast himself as "lordly material", clearly wanting the position, but not wanting to be seen as pushing too overtly for it.
