He's not here?
Shit. Did I give myself away earlier, or is he just not here for some other reason?
Daeron looks around for any of the other suspects on their list to see if they had perhaps warned Ser Horace. Perhaps the barkeeper himself had warned him away.
Waiting around here isn't going to make Ser Horace appear anytime soon, but perhaps if he's so focused on me trailing him, someone else can pick up his trail more easily.
He finishes his supper before leaving. Ser Addam probably needed some help following his lead.

The camera switches to split screen as Roland and Lysette made their inquiries first with Master Jaremy and then the bastard customs official. Bastards were well known for cunning and deceit, and perhaps Master Jaremy had followed Lord Merryweather's example in wickedness - a lord set the tone for his domain, whether it be Lord Starling's chivalrous example or the depravity at Longtable. It seemed Longtable and Kingsbridge were doomed to cross paths in these unhappy times.
[OOC: very sorry for delay here, combination of Lysette leaving and me being away on a work trip!
Not sorry for switching narration in to "24" style camera tricks...
Investigating: A Merchant from Longtable, Master Jaremy, that have sailed his barge full of goods down to the docks. A one-armed knight, Ser Robert Flowers, widely believed to be corrupt, now in charge of Gardenton's customs.
Happy to quickly resolve things with any rolls required as we're late in the day on this stuff.]

Despite his distaste for this shadowy plotter and his associates, Roland attempted to follow Lord Durwell's example from some day's past, seeking to disarm their quarry courtesy and friendliness. The pleasantries that served him at court seemed to serve him well in this endeavour, although as before Roland thought back to his meeting with Septon Abelar. As thrilling as these hunts are, a man must take care he does not adopt a plotter's methods in seeking to bring them to justice.D9 Murmuration - Simple intrigue Master Jaremy; Ser Robert Flowers (Lysette assist): 2#4d6k3+4 14 19Master Jaremy: 14 (12 if Lysette can't assist) Ser Robert Flowers: 19 (17 if Lysette can't assist) [OOC: rolled for Roland as Lysette has left, but left in an assist from her. Please subtract two from the rolls if this is inappropriate!]

Ser Robert claims to have no knowledge of any scheming hooded men up to no good, nor does master Jaremy, but upon further questioning, he readily shows his selection of various small arms from Longtable, castle forged as it happens, and yes, he did sell a small batch of long knives on the very morning of the day of the attack, he does not remember the buyer, but his records show as much.

Roland inspected the existing mix of armaments.
"Would it be unusual to chance upon weapons of consistent manufacture? I can see a man buying a set of Kingsbridge daggers for example and paying a premium for superior craftsmanship. Or is it just Longtable arms you sell?"
At this stage, either answer seemed likely to point in the same direction - the buyer had either sought of a seller of Longtable weapons or picked these weapons out from a broader selection. The canny Lord Durwell seemed right - Lord Merryweather was being framed, for his own house would not need to purchase Longtable weapons or seek to leave them at the murder scene. Guilty as he was of many foul deeds, of this he seemed innocent.
He had a further question.
"How early in the morning was the sale made? Are you quite certain you do not recall anything further of the buyer or the direction they left in? The hour was early indeed for these sales. A man is wanted for plotting, and there will be a good reward for aiding in his capture."
The timeline of the attacks had been curious, and he was keen to put the pieces together as best he could to protect Lady Alicent and others.
The attackers were hired before the remembrance ceremony, ostensibly to silence Lady Alicent and follow the rumour back to its source, but Alicent had swore she only spoke of the rumour after the ceremony. Perhaps he should double check the matter with her, but more likely this was just another layer in the plotter's scheme.
Unless this questions produced dramatic revelations, Roland departed on what was likely to be a fruitless attempt to piece together the buyer's movements that morning. With many at the Remembrance ceremony he hoped a guardsmen or nearby merchant may have remembered someone passing, as the hooded man would have needed time to purchase his weapons, hire the assassins and then sufficient time for them to take up their positions.
[OOC: beyond the above hopefully /scene for me now-ish unless there's something dramatic as I appreciate this is carry-over from D9...]

"I have many customers, ser, this one I do not recall, but the purchase comes first in my records for that day, so it must have been early." He only have goods from Longtable, castleforged steel is in high demand among lesser knights as well as sellswords and freeriders, and there are enough of these here for the tourney that Highgarden's regular supply can't provide for all of them.

"If a flash of memory returns to you, come see me and you will be well rewarded. I can see to your safety if you help with this matter."
