It ought to have been a time for joy and the celebration of romance and prowess at arms. Instead, holding this event as scheduled appears to have been an error by Lord Leo, the tragedy is not that he has tied himself to the mast of a ship that steadfastly follows the plotted course set long before anyone noticed the black wall of stormclouds came in the way, the tragedy is that he knows it. Those who were supposed to be celebrating the joys of high summer and see the mightiest knights the seven realms have ever known test their mettle against each other appears to have submitted to their darkest instincts and rawest ambitions. He had told Butterbumps to lighten up the mood, given him free reigns, and the dwarf's efforts only served to fan the flames higher. The bottom of his cup only offered the answer that filling it again with the finest Arbor Red could hardly make anything worse.

Access Required: Status(Reputation)+Chivalry/Virtue TN 12 to be included on the guest list. A certain trouble-making septon and a certain pugilistic knight will not be granted entry, also Ser Otho Bracken and Ser Bryce Goldstag are also specifically not invited.
One might engage in various activities (no more than three allowed, some of these options are intended to trigger drawbacks to try and make you do them, if in doubt, they probably do):
Snakes in the grass (aggressive if using up the ante):
-Poison is a weapon so frequently used by the Dornish, surely they must have had a hand in the murders of Lords Jon and Bryce.
Simple Intrigue using Persuasion (Incite) or Deception (Bluff) TN 9. Gain the DoS to your Fire rumor count. Additionally, +1 Fire per 5 total DoS scored.
Up the ante: Add your status rank to the result (and mark you as a Fire supporter), trigger a challenge to a duel against you. In addition to the above effects, gain +1 Fire if winning (or not being challenged), winning such a duel deemed challenging by the narrator grants +1 glory.
Honoring the dead (honorable):
Simple intrigue TN 12, pick one (both may be done IC, but only one have an effect), upon success:
-Lord Bryce Bridges, +1 disposition with members of House Bridges. For each additional DoS, gain +1 disposition with any two of the following (pick differently each time): Lord Tyrell, Lord Durwell, Lord Mullendore, any one member of House Bridges.
-Matthis Rowan, +1 disposition with members of House Rowan upon success. Gain the DoS to your Blood rumor count
Critical Failure: -2 Disposition with the group in question, counts as aggressive and a challenge for a duel to be issued.
Answering an insult or standing for a lady (honorable):
Restriction: Only available to knights that have not engaged in any aggressive acts during this event.
-For each rank in Agility, Animal Handling, Athletics and Endurance beyond 3, gain +1 to the tests, for each rank of Fighting above 4, gain +1D to the tests. +1 for each three jousting victories.
Status(Reputation)+Chivalry TN 15
Persuasion(Convince)+Chivalry TN 15
Success on both allows you to challenge anyone engaging in aggressive behavior or stand for a lady that was insulted (or have insulted, meaning it is possible to for example stand for a lady having opted for pick a fight or upping the ante for snakes in the grass.), exact details might be worked out according to preferences. There will be various NPC's triggering specific opportunities, but other such things will occur in the background, ordinarily the one scoring the highest total DoS for a specific opportunity will be allowed to stand. Winning such a duel deemed challenging by the narrator grants +1 glory.
Pick a fight (Aggressive).
Select an NPC, simple intrigue using taunt against their intrigue defense+chivalry/virtue, success will typically result in a challenge to be issued against you, but some NPC's may be resistant. You may however opt to take -1 chivalry/virtue to deliver such a stinging insult that their hand is forced. Winning such a duel deemed challenging by the narrator grants +1 glory. Note that only one successful attempt of triggering a duel against an NPC counts (first come, first serve).
Sticky Fingers (both tests may be attempted for this option):
Thievery (Sleight of Hand) TN 12, inflict embarrassing wardrobe malfunction upon an NPC (or other creative results), may increase the TN by 3 to make it truly spectacular.
Thievery (Steal) TN 12, gain assorted jewelry worth 2d6*100SS per DoS if sold, may increase the TN by 3 to target specific individuals or increase the take to 3d6*200SS.
Critical Failure (against whichever is higher of the thievery TN and the passive awareness(notice) of the scene (13, may be higher depending on target) or the target): Discovery, -1 influence, -1 Chivalry/virtue, and the activity counts as aggressive.
Stirring the hornet's nest:
-You may use simple intrigue to attempt to set one NPC up against another, approaching an NPC for this purpose requires an audience test with a TN equal 3*Status rank of the character to be influenced, influencing from a distance can be done at -1D. Inflict a number of negative points of disposition equal to 1+ranks in incite upon a success, upon scoring 2 DoS, the target will typically take some kind of action (typically one of the aggressive ones) as a result.
Toasting to a worthy adversary (honorable):
Simple Intrigue (Charm) TN 15, Orator applies.
This only applies if toasting to an actual adversary, may have declared for a different faction in blood/fire, may be captain of an opposing team in the melee, or any number of things.
To qualify, you must boost the esteem of one who's successes are likely detrimental for yours.
Dousing the Flames (honorable)
Simple Intrigue (Convince) TN 15, Orator applies.
Raise the DoS threshold required for rumor actions to increase both blood and fire scores by 1 per DoS for the remainder of the chronicle.
Feeding the Fire (upping the ante is aggressive)
Simple Intrigue (Incite) TN 9, Orator applies.
Lower the DoS threshold for rumor actions to increase your choice of blood and fire scores by 1 per two DoS for the remainder of the chronicle.
Upping the ante: Add status, and the effect is 1 per DoS, marks you as a supporter of that faction.
Event wide consequences:
-Any aggressive activity qualifies as something another character may take the answering an insult action for, unless this is not otherwise specifically triggered.
-Each aggressive activity beyond the first: -1 Chivalry/Virtue
-Succeeding on at least one honorable activity and take no aggressive activities: +1 Chivalry/Virtue
-Succeeding on three honorable activities: +1 Chivalry/Virtue

hippocras, he could almost forget his troubles, the humiliations, the whispers behind his back. His good friend Lord Marq Durwell by his side said none of those things, whispering juicy gossip in his ears and making the whole table laugh at his delightful jokes, in such company, life was not bad, and he had no care for those who would slander him. But one voice he could not ignore, lovely and clear, he had made sure that she were seated so that he did not see her. The Lady Alicent, the whore who refused to fulfill her obligation to him, the bitch belonged naked in his bed, oh how he longed to give her what she deserved. He would beat and cow her into obedience and take his pleasure. "Marry him, ser? Oh, of that I have no intention, I cannot let myself be dishonored by a husband that commits such foul and black deeds." A better man might keep quiet and not be caught by the trap, but she had spoken just loud enough for many to notice and for the silence to spread in collective anticipation, some looked at him, most tried to figure out what was happening. The words his good friend Lord Marq had said just before played in his head "You must not take insult lying down, or else the vultures will descend upon you as the defenseless wounded prey they see you for."
"And you think I would ever want to marry a Dornish Harlot?" He blusters and slams the table so hard that several goblets are overturned, causing quite a turmoil, more than one knight having wine spill upon his attire. "You call yourself a lady, but are you really? Have you not been fucking around with any man you fancy like the Dornish slut you are? You are no lady, and I will not marry you, there is no more contract between Longtable and the Whorehouse of Yronwood." To his side sits Lord Marq, his face-palm seems highly appropriate. To her credit, Lady Alicent remains stoic at the outburst, her hand on her chest. Calmly and coldly, she looks at him with indignation. "I have never believed one anointed with the seven oils and taken the holy vows of knighthood capable of such base insults, my lord spits upon my honor, he vilifies my father and brothers and he rips apart a compact written and sealed in the presence of the good king." She pauses for a long breath, she remains dignified and composed where nine out of ten in the room would have replied to the stinging barbs and harsh provocations with the same sort, though not her. "Such words cannot go ignored, but alas I am but a woman, would there by chance be a gallant knight willing to stand for the honor of a lady, her house and their king?" The Lady Alicent asks for but one knight to stand for her, enough of the room rises that it would be easier to count those who do not.

Everyone can see that Lord Walgrave Oakheart bumps into Ser Symon Starkwood on purpose, and then he have the gall to accuse him of not watching out for where he is going. Rather than to attempt a conciliatory tone as an older and wiser man might have done, Ser Symon does as knights his age does, choosing confrontation. The result is inevitable, with Lord Oakheart declaring that he is looking forward to face Ser Symon in the morning. Lord Gareth Middlebury loudly proclaims that Lord Bryce simply must have been murdered by Dornish poison, him and Lord Hightower, surely. It is the dornish way, he says, once is a coincidence, but with two there cannot be any doubt as to what is going on, pity that the realms are too busy appeasing and prostrating themselves in front of the Prince and Dorne, surely they must have taken leave of their wits, corrupted by Dornish customs of wanton promiscuity and sin. His sworn sword Ser Lambert lurks in the background, clearly Lord Gareth hopes to lure a half-breed abomination tainted with Dornish Blood to face the renowned Scorpionbane in combat. To no-one's surprise, Lady Mya is doing her very best to hurl stinging barbs right where they hurts the most, needling her favorite victim, Lady Denyse, with a few choice words about her mother, about Tanda Peake, Bittersteel and Fireball among others. Lady Maegelle Cordwayner for her part ignores Mya, comparing her to a yapping little dog with a loud shrieking bark but no bite or real courage to try to use it, but she herself is just as unhinged, if somewhat more cold and calculated, hoping perhaps she might snare some brash young supporter of the king to match blades with Ser Normyn. In the shadow of Lady Maegelle and Lady Mya and others, the likes of Lady Helicent Cockshaw and Lord Armond Caswell are milling about with more subtle jabs at those currently controlling the Iron Throne and of those who would seize it for their own ambitions. One voice apparently have had enough, no less angry than any other, but this is supposed to be a tourney, it is supposed to be good sport, good fun, not overworked silent sisters, lies and engineered scandal, and the living scheming over the bodies of the old and young alike as if nothing matters beyond this great silly game over some uncomfortable chair. Most agree with her, but when the other side employs all the dirty tricks ever conceived, how can the righteous hold themselves to the high road? Better to win dishonorably than to allow the enemy to unleash their horrors upon the Realms because one prefers one's own armor spotlessly clean to doing what must be done to save the loved ones.

Mikel arrived quietly and only made small talk initially. It was a tragic day and he listened to what was being said in the Great Hall and he sipped at a cup of wine and picked at some food. It didn't take long for the already tense feeling to worsen. As was the hallmark of this tournament, or possibly the noble class in general, the sharp tongues were soon wagging and the hard words were exchanged over puffed out chests. Another cup of wine helped him to keep his composure, and even emboldened him to make a toast to the deceased Lord Bryce, though it hadn't seemed to go over well. When he heard those near him fanning the flames of division and Dornish hate mongering he sought to calm them yet the only success his words had were to draw blank stares his direction before he was disregarded entirely. He rubbed at his face and took to deep breathes which he slowly let out. The frustration was back and he fought to keep it at bay. More wine and more deep breathes had helped him for a time, but when he saw Ser Simon, the deep breathing and wine failed him. Squires took beatings, it was common knowledge. They might be cuffed now and then to help retain a lesson or to follow a command, perhaps something more stern like a boot or closed fist if their Knight was a bit of a brute or perhaps it was over a serious matter. And of course, the training itself was a beating. Bumps, bruises were not uncommon on any squire and the occasional break not entirely unexpected either. But that's not what happened between Ser Simon and his squire. Ser Simon beat on him, and beat on him, then beat on him some more. It had been a malicious attack by a man upon a boy who hadn't a chance to protect himself. Presumably, the boy Ser Simon - a gifted fighter - had beaten likely idolized him as most squires do of their Knights, and even expected to be safe around him. Beaten and betrayed, and helpless against both. It was too much for Mikel to stomach. "Ser Simon!" Mikel sat next to him. "I am Ser Mikel of Harroway and I just wanted to say how impressed I am by your ability to overcome your squire in such an overwhelming display of prowess! Not that such prowess was apparent when you rode against Ser Titus, but then again he is a man grown, had been armed and trained too - nobody expected you to fare well against such. No Ser, you shouldn't feel badly about it, it is well known your best at knocking down bottles of wine and mugs of ale."....."Well if you don't care for what I'm saying there's folks who say I'm barely more then a squire myself. Be more then happy to hang my sword up and step outside with you, as your not worth a proper challenge. Though if you need that sword in your hand as I'm not significantly smaller then you, we can do it that way too."
[OOC: Going to go ahead and let Mikel auto fail his prejudced check against Ser Simon if he refused the challenge (Mikel's roll fails to successfully taunt him) and lose one point of chivalry to force him to challenge. Mikel would prefer a 'brawl' in the alley (his best chance, and less likely to be killed) yet will accept a more typical match (preferably on foot)...forgot Mikel's knightly chivalry bonus (+2) on simple intrigue towards 'pick a fight' which would make it a 15, if father allows thank you, if not I understand!]

As Malyk entered the hall, many eyes turned. Tonight, no outlandish clothes in bright colors. Tonight he wore a perfectly tailored jacket of black velvet, the short collar accentuating his jawline, the cut showcasing his narrow waist and lithe body. The Levalle Seneschal was often so outlandish, it was sometimes easy to forget just how beautiful he was. This evening there was no doubt; elegant in attire and graceful in movement. There would be many young ladies and perhaps a few men that would be mourning the fact he was a commoner, although perhaps some would not care.
His only adornment was a gold fox painstakingly embroidered on one shoulder chasing a white stag. Many would assume it was a not so subtle reminder of recent events. Those who knew him well would know better, for he was not so prideful. It was more a reminder that any goal, no matter how remote or elusive was achievable. Given the political winds, it was perhaps strange that House Levalle had chosen the side of Blood. They were not known for choosing the losing side, but war was not yet upon them and winds change. Perhaps the Levalles knew something others did not. Both the House and the Seneschal could be accused of many things, but stupid was not one of them.
His first action upon arrival was to extend his condolences to the Rowans. His regret at their loss was both moving and sincere. There was nothing more tragic than a young man cut down in his prime, but he had died trying to protect others and no greater gift or sacrifice could be given. A truly honorable death in a world that uses the word far too lightly.
Next he congratulated Lord Florent on the safe return of his son. Hopefully the rumors that Bittersteel was behind these attacks was untrue. Otherwise his liege's alignment with the Fire faction would be supporting the very man who had tried to kill his son.
For the remainder of the evening he chatted quietly with the many assembled. Yes, the many deaths at the tourney were tragic, but perhaps we should get used to that, as if war breaks out there will be many more. It's unfortunate trade will be disrupted and so much coin wasted. There will be great strain on many political alliances. The loss of so many commoners will be difficult when they must return to the fields. Competition for eligible and suitable young men should increase dramatically after the war. Each comment a subtle reminder of the cost of what may come. Each comment tailored to his audience of the moment.

Given all that was to transpire in the hall, it was as well that Ser Roland was of good enough standing to gain entrance to the feast. D9 Foul Mood Entry Status + Chivalry: 3d6+7 17Roland's genuine penitence in shaving his head and kind words found favour with House Rowan. He wished he had done more and followed the hooded man that faithful night, but at least he could offer care for the living and let Lord Rowan know of his house's continued efforts to track the plot's mastermind. He also made efforts to pass his condolences on to House Bridges too, their late Lord was a war hero and would be sorely missed. D9 Foul Mood - Honouring Matthis Rowan: 4d6k3+2 17 - 2 DoS His esteem for Ser Roland Redwyne was deep - the great knight had given Roland his spurs and spoken up for him when he escorted noble Yronwood ladies to safety rather than ransom them. The two had met in the joust and would cross swords in the melee as competing captains. Indeed, the tensions in the kingdom made for strange bedfellows, as Lord Oakheart had been among those that spoke against both Rolands so many years ago, yet now hunted with Bittersteel and Redtusk at Highgarden. If the kingdom was pushed in to outright civil war then Roland would find himself fighting against a cherished friend. For just a moment, camaraderie won out and Roland was able to make it clear that knights on either side could hold mutual respect. Civil wars were often bloody things indeed, with fewer prisoners taken and even then oft executed rather than ransomed. The Dance of Dragons had proved as much. With friendships across factional divides, perhaps some chivalry would remain even if the stake were high. Roland was not fool enough to think he would frequently triumph over Redtusk, and noted as much publicly. Not only that, but he praised the man's dignity in defeat as something he and others should strive to emulate. D9 Foul Mood - Toasting Redtusk (Friendly): 4d6k3+5 19 - 1 DoS Alicent's bravery and poise in the face of the vile Lord Merryweather made him love her all the more. As a multitude of knights rise to their feet to offer their swords, Roland opts for simpler words and a contrasting approach. Roland is more noted for his charm than convincing words, but Alicent's plight has clearly moved him. "Cordwayner for Yronwood!" he states simply, the words ringing out. By all the logic, the kneeling knight should have been lost in the crowd of standings would-be champions, but the contrast seems to only draw more attention to him. Alicent lifts up Roland by his swordhand, electing him over many others, Lord Willem Starling and Ser Roland Redwyne among them, such is the foulness of Lord Eldon than the number of volunteers are no fewer than threw their gauntlets atop his broken banner.
Lord Eldon seems visibly taken aback by the response, he almost pleads to Lord Tyrell who sternly shakes his head, he exchanges a glance with Ser Rennefer. "My knee has not recovered from the joust, but I cannot deny a knight's challenge, I would be honored to have Ser Rennefer stand in my place." The bastard serving as Lord Eldon's champion, and butcher according to some, stands up, tall, well proportioned and strong muscle, he bumps his fist against his chest in salute and bows in acceptance, a pair of sinister eyes studies his foe intently, the visage of a dangerous predator, a killer. Lord Eldon, somewhat subdued returns to his food, Ser Rennefer would break his challenger, he was free of the betrothal and give it a year, everything would be forgotten, because he is a powerful lord who's alliance would be worth a gorgeous and well endowed daughter. Lady Alicent would go back to being a Dornish nobody.

These social gatherings were getting tedious. Not that Ashara would dream of not showing up, she had a role to play and she would play that role to the best of her ability, for the sake of House Starkwood. Plus, it was a good opportunity to pull a few puppet-strings, whisper a few words in the right ears and so on. She would be lying if she didn't enjoy the game of it, but beyond that it was quite possibly a life or death struggle for herself, her brother, and her mother - and by extension her father and House Starkwood as a whole, though the Houses's survival was more likely than that of her immediate family. She far preferred peace to war, fun dances to dances with death, laughing with friends to scheming against enemies... but she was no naive little girl - being sent to Sunspear cured her of that. The King was, distantly, her kin by marriage. The princes Baleor and Maekar were distantly her kin by blood and even closer by marriage, particularly the latter, married to a cousin as close - maybe closer? - in blood than even Laena was. That didn't really matter all that much to Ashara, but when so many of Ser Daemon's proponents were actively and vehemently threatening towards her and her immediate kin - that mattered. That cemented her loyalty stronger than any vow sworn by her grandfather. She was not her father, beholden by perceived necessity to a vile man's wishes. Regardless, however, her loyalty was to King Daeron and nothing would change that. House Starkwood prided itself on it's descent from Brandon the Builder. Ashara, however, had much more in common with a different ancestor, one not shared by her father. She carried the blood of the Warrior Queen Nymeriah, and that blood burned hot in her. Had she been born a man, she no doubt would have taken to the knightly arts as much or maybe even more than her brother had. However, she was not a man, and that meant she was not welcome upon the battlefield of war. She was, however, still a warrior, as much as Nymeriah was - and like a good warrior she would not falter in her duty in the face of adversity. This - these despised events - this was her battlefield, and she would wage battle on it to the best of her ability. She sought out House Bridges, offering heartfelt condolences. She had not known Lord Bryce, but had heard much of him from her cousin, and felt an odd kinship with Lady Ysilla, though they had not really met directly. She would have enjoyed visiting the Laughing Stream, had things worked out according to plan. She sought out House Rowan, offering false sentiments of sorrow. Goldengrove was not far from Starkwood, but though they shared political ties, she had never really had much to do with House Rowan. Starkwood was a lesser house and treated as such - their interests might align, but a true alliance - an alliance of equals - was not likely to occur. Still, good will was a useful commodity - one never knew when it would come in handy. She sought out Ser Quentin Cordwayner, her despised betrothed. Appearances must be kept, and he could be used to achieve her desired ends. She had intended to speak with him about getting to know his uncle Ser Roland by fighting beside him in the melee, ostensibly to perhaps repair the rift between father and uncle - unachievable with the good-mother-to-be from hell around - but in reality more because it would irk said good-mother-to-be to no end. While seeking out Ser Quentin she heard Lord Gareth Middlebury spouting nonsense about Dornish being behind the recent murders, as if every Maester's tent weren't stocked with various poisonous substances that also happened to be useful as medicines. It was nonsense, but dangerous nonsense, so she decided to kill two birds with one stone, encouraging Ser Quentin to both join his uncle in the melee and to take a stand against the vitriol of Lord Gareth. Her willingness to see him face off against a notoriously dangerous opponent, even for an honorable reason, was perhaps a bit too off-putting, however. Hopefully at least her primary objective was achieved, but if not, oh well. Of course, her primary objective in this battle was to strengthen her and her allies assaults against the enemy, and so she spent a good deal of time speaking about the wealth and prosperity that the peace with Dorne had brought, and the despicable acts - alleged and otherwise - of Bittersteel, Peake, Otho Bracken, and Balon Balckbriar. She spoke of the corruption of honor by ambition. She spoke of families divided, of brother fighting brother. The devastation of the Dance, still felt in places today, revisited again, and perhaps worse. War seemed inevitable, but there was one man who could prevent it. Who could save the lives of tens if not hundreds of thousands; who could uphold his sacred vows of knighthood by preventing untold horrors from descending upon innocent women and children by those who would take advantage of the chaos of war. Ser Daemon was an honorable man, but one moment of weakness, one small utterance of ambition to his less honorable compatriots and he would forever be remembered a villain, and the blood of many would be upon his hands, a small act but a grave enough sin to make the Seven Hells his inevitable destination.

His actions and words were reviled by some, revered by others, but all agreed he could be disruptive. The likes of Ser Daeron, Ser Otho, and Septon Abelar had been denied an invitation so it was with some surprise Balon was allowed in. What a mistake.
Balon moved through the assembled knights and lords, speaking of Dornish promiscuity, their dishonorable ways, disregarding Andal tradition by letting women inherit (the nerve!). Little if any seemed to find purchase, only those already in agreement with Balon's prejudice nodded along. He moved on to trying to fans the flames of Ser Daemon's claim to the throne. Why wouldn't someone support him? He is Aegon reborn while King Daeron is a slave to Dornish whims. Again only those that already shared his views agreed with him. Frustrated Balon observed others to see how they were handling themselves. Seeing Lord Walgrave challenge Ser Symon lifted his spirits and more importantly gave him an idea. Balon stalked Jasper Flowers waiting for him to be relatively alone. As Balon walked by him he stopped and whirled on him, "What the fuck did you just say to me?" Regardless of Jasper's reaction Balon continued, "How dare you imply that about me and me sister!" Balon's voice grew louder and more angry as he unloaded a verbal assault of such magnitude those around him and Jasper were dumb struck, mouth agape. " I will not let such slander go unanswered Jasper Whoreson! I'd say you're a stain upon House Oakheart but that implies any Oakheart would sully themselves with your pox-ridden mother!"

The crowd part when they sense the whiff of such nasty odor. Ser Jasper is about to steel himself for the reply when another knight decides to raise his voice instead "I think we all have had enough of your black ways, ser" And it is not just any knight that have decided to take Ser Jasper's place, but Ser Daemon Blackfyre, by most considered the best of the best. He steps in front of Ser Jasper, throws a glove at Balon's feet and with that he turns away to spend no more time on one who is hardly worth any more than absolutely necessary. Ser Jasper appears not to protest having another stand for him despite being more than capable of defending his own honor. |

Though Lysette was there to try to lift spirits as best she could, there were cold little threads winding into her like worms. A plot against her father. Megelle. Maybe it would have been better to stay in Kingsbridge. Let the Kingdoms go as they would...they could raise the bridges and seal the passes and let the world pass them by. She had books enough.

That somberness infused her when she stood to say words after the late Lord Bryce and Matthis Rowan. Her words were perhaps not soaring oratory, laced with the promise of new life and a pleasant afterlife for the departed, but they were sincere and full of shared sorrow.
When tempers rose up, she joined her voice with Ysilla's and several others in trying to restore order. What was it with this tourney and people trying to interrupt the solemnity of honoring the dead? Couldn't folk let their grievances sleep for even an hour?! Then again, it was tempting to try to set ears against the enemies of her House as well...here where so many important and influential ears could be found...

Foul Mood - Entrance - Status(Rep)+Chiv v TN12: 4d6k3+6 21 - Success
The sun was setting, bringing an end to the ninth day of Highgarden’s now infamous Tournament and as Lord Tyrell beckoned all to kneel at sorrow’s seat, Titus heeded the call. A bitter-sweet mixture, this tournament, where glory and grief seemed entwined like lovers. He offered his regards to House Bridges, there was not a knight in the Reach or beyond that did not know the honour of Lord Bryce and the realm would mourn with them as the flower of Chivalry stood trampled but still strong at it’s roots! He offered his regards to Lord Rowan, House Blackbriar’s neighbours to the North, praying that no more sons nor daughters should have to suffer more from the ill deeds of late. He offered a toast to Ser Roland Cordwayner, whilst the knight had defeated him and seen to his end at the lists there should be no dishonour in defeat against a man so true to his vows and the ideals of knighthood. But given the chance he would see a second chance at the field of the Seven Sided Contest!

The bakers would be furious, if they could see. Some gasp in shock. Some stifle impolite laughter.
A massive confection, carved and decorated to look like Highgarden, complete with keep, gardens, Sept, and even a hedge maze is ruined as the face of the now half-naked Lady Maegelle Cordwayner plunges deep into it's sugary interior. Laces from her gown, inexplicably tangled around a dagger hanging on Ser Normyn Flower's belt had torn free from her attire, causing the seam at her waistline to separate completely. As half her gown fell to around her ankles, fouling the forward movement which had set the whole disaster in motion, Lady Maegelle lost her balance, stumbled, and fell. Luckily nothing was damaged but her pride.
Her pride and the pride of the Highgarden bakers, who had labored for days to perfect the centerpiece of this disastrous gathering.
Across the room, an individual suppressed a satisfied grin. They could not afford to draw attention to themselves right now - the poor Lady Maegelle's 'mishap' was the perfect distraction to relive a few key nobles of he contents of their pockets and purses. What would be found? Only the Stranger knew. Perhaps some loose coin or a note not meant for the public to read, but maybe nothing but dust and lint. One by one the individual crossed paths with Lord Gormon Peake, Lady Shiera Blackbriar, and Ser Aegor Rivers.
