Alliser had attended the paltry affair of the trial. He was not generally one for such theatrics, but his Lords heir had been kidnapped so he went out of solidarity. While he was there he saw Ser Balon, knowing that he was likely there just to provide testimony, should it be required, Alliser none the less wanted to thank the knight for ensuring that his Lords heir was returned safely.
He also had questions, and an offer.
"Ser Balon, I'm glad to see you here."

Balon stood, quietly listening to the trial. They were all guilty and the lowborn already swung from the hangman's noose. It seemed Ser Bronn had cooperated with the inquisitors and was pleading for leniency. Pathetic. Balon felt a presence approaching him and turned to see Lord Alliser.
Lord Spongeholder. Balon suppressed a smile from the nickname bequeathed to Alliser by Ser Otho. What does he want?
Balon nodded in acknowledgement, "My Lord. Quite the day for your liege lord, is it not?"

Alliser nods, "indeed it is Ser Balon. I'm glad to see that you have followed in your father's honorable footsteps. It seems the rumors of your impropriety are greatly exaggerated."
He gives the Knight a deep bow of respect, "I must thank you greatly for your reaching my Lord's heir before serious injury occurred. I'm sure my Lord has already offered a place at his table, but let me extend the invitation to stones harbor as well. You could do well in my hall." He concludes.
He waits patiently for Balon to reject or accept his offer, before moving on to what he really was seeking out the young Knight for.

Alliser nods, "indeed it is Ser Balon. I'm glad to see that you have followed in your father's honorable footsteps. It seems the rumors of your impropriety are greatly exaggerated." Balon's face remained neutral as Alliser "complimented" him. He gives the Knight a deep bow of respect, "I must thank you greatly for your reaching my Lord's heir before serious injury occurred. I'm sure my Lord has already offered a place at his table, but let me extend the invitation to stones harbor as well. You could do well in my hall." He concludes. There was a brief moment of shock when Lord Alliser offered him a place at Stone Harbor. "Are you not aware I support Ser Daemon?" Balon was, and continued to be, a vocal supporter of Blackfyre, "I guessed Lord Florent would be obligated to offer me a position within his house for rescuing his son. You however," Balon paused as he thought of the correct phrasing, "Would be viewed as a potential supporter of Fire by bringing me under your banner."Balon was ultimately non-commital, "I thank you for your offer and will consider it, my lord."

Lord Alliser nods at his mom committal response, then leans in towards Ser Balon, whispering, "you saved my Lord's heirs life. There is worse things then taking in a capable Knight such as yourself into my service." He paused then continues, "It has come to my attention that Ser offered his blade to Lord William, but that he turned you down. I would beg Ser to reconsider, perhaps speaking to his mother about it?" Then he leans away, speaking in a normal tone the quick sideways comment forgotten, "for if you did decide to join my Lord's house I would ensure that you had one if Lord fossway's grandest stead's and armor to match." Lord Alliser declared.
(Basically Alliser is offering you, on the sly, to talk with your mother having her convince Lord Karl to have you stand in his stead. If you do there is a superior mount and superior full plate of you "accept" Lord Florent's offer.)

Balon listened to what Alliser had to say and considered it. The idea of defeating Ser Rennifer had it's upside. Glory for defeating one of Lord Eldon's blackguard, redemption in the eyes of those who considered Balon a murderous brute, and of course material gain. There was also the fact Karl would live (which Balon would remind him of frequently) and owe him.
The downside was Rennifer could kill him.
He didn't look at Alliser but wondered aloud, "I suppose if I were able to stand in for Lord Karl I'd need certain advantages. A superior sword and shield would help. So would a certain destrier I saw in Gardenton. A rare and special breed from the Fossoways. Of course Ser Rennifer is a known blackguard and I'd need some armor for my mount. It'd be dishonorable but unsurprising to see him aim for my horse instead of me." Balon finally looked over to Alliser, "If I beat him the plate-mail I have in mind wouldn't be cheap. It'd take some time to craft but what's the cost when compared to the love of your niece." The filthy slut.
To be clear Balon is asking for Superior Longsword, Superior Shield, Superior Destrier, and Armor for the horse. Superior Armor for Balon can't be custom made in time for the duel.

"I'm sorry, for it would seem that I have misspoken. Although if you do decide to fight Ser Rennifer I imagine that he would think twice about striking a false blow against a newly sworn Knight to Lord Florent. Particularly after said knights rescuing of his heir." is he purposely being dense? Our is this just the side product of too many lance hits to the Head.
Alliser uses have to wave off some invisible flies, "but enough quibbles about such matters, "the Lord says, putting the manner to rest. "I'm sure you have already had the best healing money can buy, but should you ever find yourself in need of a Maester I will instruct mine too treat you as one of my own sworn sword's for the rest of the tourney, as short of time as that may be. You really have no idea how thankful I am that you rescues my Lord's heir."
"So I imagine that you have had so many admirers of late. But I hope you would be willing to entertain a Lord and indulge me in the tail off rescue?" Queries the will groomed Lord.

[Alliser, giving him any of that to use really counts as interfering that Kyra probably would catch on to]

"I'm sorry, for it would seem that I have misspoken. Although if you do decide to fight Ser Rennifer I imagine that he would think twice about striking a false blow against a newly sworn Knight to Lord Florent. Particularly after said knights rescuing of his heir." Balon was thoroughly unconvinced, "House Orme's honor has been brought low by the actions of your bastard niece. Lady Kyra wants blood and Ser Rennifer is most anxious to deliver it to her. If they have no qualms killing Lord Karl they'll have no problem killing me, regardless of who I serve." Alliser uses have to wave off some invisible flies, "but enough quibbles about such matters, "the Lord says, putting the manner to rest. "I'm sure you have already had the best healing money can buy, but should you ever find yourself in need of a Maester I will instruct mine too treat you as one of my own sworn sword's for the rest of the tourney, as short of time as that may be. But I hope you would be willing to entertain a Lord and indulge me in the tail off rescue?" Queries the will groomed Lord. "Quibbles?" Balon was incredulous, "Your niece seduced a Lord and convinced him to break a betrothal. There will be blood spilled and you call it a quibble?" Balon was agitated by the casual dismissal of his friend Karl's predicament. The honeyed platitudes did nothing to calm him. When asked about the rescue Balon's reply was concise, "Ser Addam located the sellswords hideout and came back for help. He found it in me, Lord Gormon, and Bittersteel. We were outnumbered three to one but when half of them laid dead on the ground the rest surrendered. Ser Aladore was beat up but nothing serious."

that's rich coming from a man who is purported to have lain with lady D. Cordwayner to complain about my niece's exploits. At least my niece is not foolish enough to lift her skirts before the deal is set. Especially for a mere Knight. the Lord smiles coldly, clenching his gloved fist in his other hand as Balon rushed the tale. So Ser Addam, a blackfyre supporting Knight, finds his way back to camp and happens upon Ser Balon and his granduncle, Lord Peake, and then they set off with bittersteel in tow. Then outnumbered three to one, the bandits still lay down there weapons even as they still outnumber the four knights? How convenient, and a grand story to tell my Lord besides. I wonder if they would have surrendered without a fight if they had announced themselves as Lord Peake and bittersteel with two pawns in tow.
He relaxed his fist as Balon finished his story, "that's quite a tale, good Ser. Perhaps I shall commission someone to turn it into a ballad, so your glory will live on endlessly?" He asks rhetorically.

For future reference, Gormon is my 1st cousin. My mother is his aunt. "That's quite a tale, good Ser. Perhaps I shall commission someone to turn it into a ballad, so your glory will live on endlessly?" He asks rhetorically. Balon answered anyway, "No thank you, my lord." The idea of the rescue becoming a ballad appealed to Balon but Lord Spongeholder was the last person he'd want to commision it. "I'll tell the tale at the inns and taverns, that's good enough for me."It was Balon's turn to change the subject, "Your son Ser Imry has made quite the name for himself this week. You must be proud, my lord." There was an obvious double meaning in Balon's sentence but Balon seemed to be referring to Imry's success in the lists.

"he has indeed progressed far into the tournament. Especially admirable considering the sorts of opponents we tend to draw." the Fucking glory hound. "although I imagine you would have progressed as far as him, provided you didn't get the poor draw you had." but that's what happens if you follow through on a threat put out by a rumour boy. Someone obviously tried to save you from yourself, and yet you didn't take the life line offered. Curious. I wonder if your spat with Ser Wyl is deeper then merely political. "so what do you think of your father defeating the fabled half breed breakspear?" He asks, seeing if he can get a rise out if the young Knight. I will roll incite if you want to get mechanical. But I imagine just mentioning Baelor should be enough.

But I imagine just mentioning Baelor should be enough. Balon didn't comment on his joust with Ser Manfryd Grimm. Balon's piss poor seat positioning had cost him the match and it still irked him. "Prince Baelor," Balon put emphasis on his royal title, "is one of the best jousters in the Seven Kingdoms." Slandering Ser Walton was one thing, slandering a Prince was something else entirely. "The fact that my father beat him speaks highly of Blackbriar prowess." With the two knights Donnel drew in the day's list Balon assumed someone was punishing him for declaring himself a loyalist after the battle reenactment. "Of course I was busy rescuing your future lord so I didn't get a chance to see the tilt. Did you?"

Alliser shakes his head, "no. I was busy searching for my Lord's heir." prince eh? perhaps I misjudged him. Maybe he's just taken in my Ser Daemons nobility. Interesting that he has fallen so far from his father's tree. Or maybe it's Ser Aegor who has his claws in the foolish knight and is using him as a blunt instrument.
"So who was your Knight that you squired to?" Alliser asks, seeking a topic of small talk that would not cause the Knight to bristle. I have plenty other questions for this Knight...
