"That would explain your interest in Lord Marq, I have not truly had the pleasure of anything more than a brief introduction, and yet, the way his eyes met mine during his courtesies." Her face speaks more of admiration than desire. "I had thought to bat my eyelashes and see if I couldn't make him mine, but found myself uttering rehearsed phrases like all these other silly ladies of the Reach, part of me wants a rematch, to show these two little squabbling hens that this tourney belongs to neither of them, but mostly to prove to myself that it simply was a brief moment of weakness. There are whispering voices warning of what might happen should I lose, and more eager ones that seems not to mind such consequences."
"But enough of him, I thought Lord Bryce has an interesting past, but now he's just taking to the bottle to go back and live it over again? Or that's more or less what I heard."

"Lord Bryce is in an ... interesting place right now. He's still very entertaining and charming, but what I'm trying to determine is if he's actually capable of moving on, given an appropriate push, or if he's just going to wallow in the past indefinitely as he waits for death to finally come. I've seen some hopeful signs, but nothing definitive. It is one of life's great tragedies that a man easily plied into a position of marriage is a man too boring to be worth marrying.
"His house could benefit from me, and they have a reputation I think would be interesting to maintain. But," she shrugs, "If he's too mired in the past, and Lord Marq is too busy playing games, I suppose I'm left with wresting Ser Aemon from Lady Lysette. Hopefully by then, the truth behind the rumour I heard that he's not who she's after will be known and verified, and he'll be willing enough to look elsewhere. I'm not vain enough to believe I have a chance while he believes a lord protectorship is possible. I'm not you, after all."
She looks across at her sister. "Have you an opinion on the man? We've yet to meet, but everything I've heard is positive. Though I admit I've not looked in-depth. Trying to snare too many men means you catch none, after all." She then remembers who she's speaking with. "Apologies, should *I* try and snare too many men, I'd catch none."

"Everyone has their limits, and I don't really try to catch anyone as much as to be entertained by their attentions." Shiera does smile at the suggestion that she might snare however many she pleased. "Aemon is charming and clever, more so than our other brothers, I think. And he is a man, not some boy with simple desires and motivations. Though I know not what those are, half Florent and half Targaryen, that's an interesting mix.

She nods at her sister's observation. "Cunning and ambitious, from both lines, most like. And that's just on the surface." She gives a wistful smile. "It will be interesting to peel away his layers, should it come to that."
She gives a wistful sigh, and refocuses on her sister. "Now, I should probably be going, before my skin wrinkles. I'm glad we had this opportunity to talk, it was ..." Charming? Terrifying? "...interesting." From her tone, this is far from the damning with faint praise it may be from others.

If Shiera indicates her acquiescence, Laena politely leaves, trying to discreetly only show the other woman her back once she's out of the water as she departs.
I hope my daughter turns out like you. She thinks idly, as she leaves.
