No ball without a grand dance, and while it starts out with many participants, and any who wishes may partake for the first few songs, the ladies in waiting of Lady Peake are on hand to remove such dancers as fail to impress, one by one, and then they remove such dancers as fails to impress as much as the remainders. In the end, there can only be two, the King and Queen of the ball.
Only characters having completed The Grand Masquerade Ball event and successfully gained entry may partake.
Special: Characters that opts out of the dancing receives +1D on all tests made during the "The Green Man" event.
Dancing: To partake in the dance, make the following tests and add your costume modifier: - Move with grace and style: Agility(balance) TN 9 - Know the steps: Status(breeding) TN 9 - Add a dash of passion: Persuasion(Charm, Intimidate, Seduce or Taunt) or Deception (act, choose one of the techniques for persuasion for effects) TN9
-The Graceful Benefit adds +1D on all tests during this step. -You may spend a destiny point during this stage to gain +1D to all three tests. -You may also spend a destiny point to determine exactly whom your dancing partners are and learn their identities. -The lascivious drawback will trigger, and upon a failure a seduction result must be chosen, and an attempt to steal away for carnal pleasures must be made.
Critical Failure counts as -3 total DoS.
Results: -You automatically gain the effects of a simple intrigue won using your chosen technique against a number of NPC dancing partners (of the opposite gender, selected more or less at random) who's combined status rank is equal or less to your total DoS. -If you succeed on all three tests, the combined status rank is instead equal or less to your total DoS*1.5 (round down). -A seduction result only applies to one dancing partner, other techniques must be chosen to determine the results with the rest. -You may gain the results of other techniques than your primary one with no more than half your total DoS (exception for seduction, as noted). -You may chose to withhold your identity from your dancing partners if your disguise result beats their passive awareness(notice). You learn the identities of your dancing partners if they fail to beat your passive awareness(notice) with their disguise checks.
Highest total DoS (one of each gender), tiebreaker being specialty dices summed up over the rolls, then highest total, then best disguise (DoS, then test result), then rerolls. These two will be crowned king and queen of the ball, and awarded matching rings that may be cashed in for +2 coffers during downtime, they may also be kept, granting +1b to all influence tests in intrigue against characters sympathetic to the Blackfyre cause if worn, but also mark you as a supporter (and betray your identity). These two are encouraged to play out the victory dance as a separate scene.
If a seduction result is chosen, and you opt to go through with it here and now, you must succeed on a stealth (sneak or blend in) or Deception (Bluff or Act) against TN 12, adding your costume bonus, to find a secluded spot to engage in carnal pleasures. If the couple stealing away includes the king or queen, the TN is 15, 18 for the two of them together. The advantage is the anonymity, perhaps even if caught, the downside is that Butterbumps might be lurking somewhere in the shadows, just waiting for such an occasion. A failure means that you wisely cancel such plans, a critical failure makes for interesting consequences.

Dancing was Ashara's passion. There was really nothing else to be said about it. Moving from partner to partner, she gauged the skill and interest of each and shifted her style to match, drawing out the best performance of her partners as well as herself. Two of her dance partners drew particular attention. The first she recognized as a knight of a certain house, and decided to seize upon the opportunity to cause some trouble for a certain foulmouthed and Dornish-hating drunkard of a knight. She had heard rumors of what he had said in the tavern and seen his behavior at the royal procession, and felt he ought to be taken down a peg or two. "It is such a horror that Ser Balon Blackbriar is so lacking in etiquette. It reflects poorly on the chivalry of Reach knights, in front of all these guests from other realms. Someone ought to teach him some manners. Someone should have done it already, but it is clear that those responsible for his upbringing have failed him. I pity Lady Denyse, having her favor borne by such a lout." The second she did not recognize at all, which was intriguing enough, but on top of that the grace and precision of his movements was rather impressive, even if the passion was a bit lacking. "You impress me and intrigue me, neither of which is something easily done. I would be greatly honored to learn your name, and perhaps to meet again in the future for another dance, or even just a conversation. As a sign of trust, I will tell you mine with no promise of recompense, but great hope." She leans in and whispers her name.

Roland's footwork had been developed in the practice yard and he found his height made him a little ungainly with some of the shorter ladies of the court, near tripping himself or his partner on occasion. However, at least he remembered all the dances correctly and covered up for each misstep with a swift and courteous apology, charming some of the ladies near his own rank in attendance, but falling to catch the attention of the grander names present. Disguise TN: 8 Passive Awareness (Notice): 12 Edit: Roland lacked the finesse to discern his most notable dance partner that evening, an older lady (to the best of his guess) who moved with a fiery boldness quite uncommon in the conservative Reach. Surely this is no blushing maid. Roland was relieved that his mask concealed the odd flush of embarrassment at some of the more provocative steps.

Aerion was counting his lucky starts that Laena had used him to practice her dancing when they were children. At the time, he hated it, but he was thankful for it now, when those skills were needed. Even with the mask, the young man was way out of his element. Where he lacked in finesse, however, he made up with a combination of basic steps and his charming personality. For a brief moment he almost lost himself in the rhythms and music, and had to stiffle himself from singing. So X number of people whose combined status is no greater than 12? *[Looks like Ashara has added costume bonuses to the 2nd and 3rd rolls, though i can't find where it says that, so I'm not sure if it applies to me?]

Post by Ser Donnel Blackbriar on Jul 10, 2018 21:05:03 GMT 1
Ser Donnel is no good dancer, his movements are stiff, and his tall frame makes conversation harder. He is however, routined enough to not make a fool of himself, and has enough experience to not dissapoint any of his dancepartners. After a few rounds he gets moved to the side, and he mostly seems relieved to get to catch his breath again. Who could have thought that the silent sister knew how to dance like the Dornish? But as the silent sisters never speak, who knows what they do behind closed doors, the seven pointed star has absolutely nothing to say about what two women may do together sheltered from the eyes of men. On what they may do in the present situation it says rather more, it is rather condemning of man and woman to entwine their bodies so tightly out of wedlock, or for her to stimulate his member and comment approvingly of it's size. Lady Peake's attendants decides to very quickly give her a tap on the shoulder and have her dance end, though that only offers time for other sorts of fun. Spending a DP to give +1D to all tests. A few cups of wine certainly helped but mostly because people seemed to support his pro-Blackfyre rhetoric. There was dancing, something Balon had never been good at but he knew the steps well enough. With his confidence boosted he began to search for a partner. One woman in particular caught his attention. She wore an elaborate costume that looked very expensive. She danced expertly and with a sensual passion that blinded Balon to everyone else. He approached her and while they talked and danced he guessed she was a few years older. Feeling bold he leaned in and whispered sweet nothings, ending with a naughty proposition. She pulled back and put a hand on his chest. She looked at him for a long moment before leaning in and offering a new meeting, away from prying eyes. " Lead the way my lady." Stealing away: 5d6k4+2 15 Once they were away and to themselves they gave in to their carnal desires. She didn't fumble around and knew exactly how to take her pleasure. Once finished they smoothed out their clothes and re-adjusted their masks. " I'd be lying if I didn't want to know your name. Or at least a hint." she couldn't see it but he was smiling behind his mask.

"If I told you that, I could not have any fun with my loverboytoys, now could I?" Her dialect is difficult to place, an imitation of how the Targaryens speaks at court in King's Landing, with that Valyrian slant to it, but she misses on several of the notes, as so many nobles do when they try to imitate.

Incapable of resisting any physical competition, even if it was dancing instead of combat, the lizard-headed knight entered the grand dance. To his credit, his years of combat training and upbringing on Driftmark meant that he was a surprisingly capable dancer. Though his dance might have lacked the grace of others' in the ballroom, there was a militant essence to his movements that many in the room found appealing.
