There was no question, of course Lord Tyrell and his family would have words with Ser Aerion, as was custom for events such as these, Lord Leo is seated upon the Oakenseat and flanked by Lady Rhonda to his left, and his son Ser Willas to his right, his other two children is expected to arrive in Prince Baelon's company on the morrow. "Ah, my old squire!" Lord Leo did not even come close to speaking in hushed tones. "How fare you, Ser Aerion?"

Aerion looks at the lord who was like a father to him and can't help but smile. "I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm old, my Lord. Don't forget, I'm barely past my 19th name day. And I've surely got more to learn. You may have taught me most of what I know, but I'm keenly aware that you barely scratched the surface of your insights."
"I am as well as can be expected! And I hope you and yours are in good health? How fares the lovely Lady Margaery"
To anyone watching, it appears as though Aerion genuinely likes the family in front of him. The younger man's eyes scan the table, and he greets each one seated at the Tyrell table.
"My Lady Rhonda, as beautiful as ever. May the Seven smile on you. Have you any new pieces to play for me?" he says with another small bow. Always the model of propriety with Lady Rhonda, lest she tug him by the ears, as she often would in his youth, in front of all these nobles. And she was good with the high harp.
"And my brother, Set Willas! It has been far too long. Will you be joining in on the upcoming fun?" he asks, meaning the upcoming tourney.
He notes the empty seats for the other Tyrell children, and makes a mental note to catch up with them. They might have some interesting stories to tell!

"Are you saying, ser." Lord Tyrell says with mock indignation. "That I were lax in my duties as a mentor, or that I knighted you much too son, which is the same thing?"
"You are kind to say, Ser Aerion, though I think we both know that I was thrice as fair to behold when I was your age." Lady Rhonda waves the compliment away.
"If you by fun, ser, refer to what Lord Willum undoubtedly has in mind for the later evening and all through the night, I think I shall pass on the opportunity." If it was the jousting, the only way Ser Willas would not be riding was if the maester ordered him not to due to illness or injury.

"I'm suggesting neither, my Lord. But if you only have seven years worth of knowledge to teach, one might wonder why you learned nothing in the others you had," responds Aerion in his regular quick whit.
"Instead I choose to believe you gave me most of the good stuff, but like any smart teacher, opted to keep at least a few secrets to yourself." he finishes with a matter-of-fact look with a slight hint of a smile, one that he used to try to pull when claiming innocence after clearly being up to no good.
No response to my inquiry of Lady Margaery. The mother bless her and keep her safe, I hope she's in good health.
"At least promise me a flagon and a tale or two before the competition starts. I'd prefer to remind you how much you like me before I inevitably unhorse you, when we meet in the finals." Aerion and Willas had a friendly rivalry, at least as far as Aerion was concerned. His upbringing was full of little back-and-forths with Ser Willas, Master Willas at the time. Of course he hoped they'd both make it to the finals, he was as close to family as his real one, but if they did, Aerion would prove the victor.
Turning back to Lord Tyrell, "What news of Highgarden?" he asks, hoping to catch up on the goings-on of his former home?

"If I failed to mention that experience is the best mentor to ever have lived, I was a poor teacher, ser." Lord Tyrell let's off a chuckle.
"That sounded suspiciously like a challenge, Ser Aerion." Ser Willas shoots back in kind. "And I fear you must have knocked your head more badly than the maester thought the last time we faced each other, ser."

"You've said as much. I remember, because I needed the 'experience' of polishing the entire floor of this hall on more than one occasion." he says, looking around the hall and becoming almost impressed with himself at having done so.
"That was but a fluke, and I intend to right the annals of history before too long!" he laughs, then changing topics.
"The real topic at hand is when is this guy going to be trotted off to be wed?" he gestures at Ser Willas, having joked with him on many occasion at his lack of desire to be wed soon. "Might do you some good, since you doesn't partake in the festivities."

"Soon enough, ser. Or so half the Lords of the Reach with a daughter of suitable age holds out a hope for." Ser Willas shrugs. "I am in no particular hurry, but it is not I that have grandchildren on my mind."

"Well I hope your bride to be is at least good looking!" he says as he nods in the direction of a passing lady who certainly would qualify, a one Lady Lysette Starling.
"Such as her! Could we be so lucky that such a beauty hasn't been married or betrothed or bargained for already? he asks, clearly interested and looking for more info on her.
OOC: Aerion is trying to get some info on Lysette before being introduced / introducing himself. Like learning that she is single/not betrothed, or even more specific such as her being a bookworm. Let me know if I need to roll!

"The Lady Lysette remains unspoken for, ser." Ser Willas can confirm. "I shall not contest with you for her heart, as the heir to House Starling, I make for a poor match, though you may just be looking at the lady in the Reach whose hand is the most highly sought of all."
"Just make sure not to mention that to my sister." As Aerion can recall, Lady Amerei does not suffer rivals for attention well, and the notion that another were held in higher regard had always vexed her greatly.

"You and I both know I would never do that. I haven't forgotten her pride so soon, my friend." he said with a laugh. "If she's so sought after, I might need some help. Are you up to helping a brother earn the favour of a pretty woman?" he asks, hoping he can charm his old friend into helping him, either by talking him up or by introducing them with a glowing recommendation. Objective: Get Ser Willas to help him earn a Lady's favour Disposition: Friendly. Free Action: Reunion - Status (Breeding): 5d6k4 +2 (anointed) 23 vs Ser Willas Intrigue Defense Initiative: Reunion - Initiative: 5d6k4 +2 (anointed) 19

"I know not if that is a good idea, ser." Ser Willas says reluctantly. "My involvement might be construed as House Tyrell playing favorites."[Say hello to Lordly Chivalry. Intrigue Iniative: 7d6k5+2 20Objective: Friendship (Polite refusal routine) Activates Anointed Free Action: breeding: 7d6k5+2 24 +2b Intrigue Defense: 14 (19 for first round) Composure: 12 DR: 3 charm +1b: 6d6k4+4 26 I think that's 3 DoS for 3*3 composure is 7 going through? ]

"Can the people of the courts not accept a friend helping a friend? Surely they would see it as such." he says with a sigh. [Intrigue defense: 13 (18for this coming round - anointed) Composure: 5/12 Reunion - Charm 1: 6d6k4+5 19 vs. 19 1 DoS 3 Composure damage. No composure lost since Willas has DR3 The Status test gave just 1b right, since I only got 2DoS? ]

"If only they would, but I am the heir to Highgarden and everything I do is scrutinized, analyzed and gives root to much speculation."[Objective: Friendship (Polite refusal routine) Intrigue Defense: 14 Composure: 12 DR: 3 charm: 5d6k4+4 20 1 DoS, so 1 influence through. 1b left from breeding freebie You only get +2 to intrigue defense, composure and influence so it looks to me like ID is 12, composure 11, but friendly is +3 to influence so that should add up. Also looks like you forgot to factor in the drawback on that breeding test.]

"You'll be bored to death if you forego doing anything lest it be taken the wrong way by someone. What did your grandmother say when teaching about the Crone, something about not being able to please everyone?"[Intrigue defense: 12 Composure: 4/11 Reunion - Charm 2 +1B: 7d6k4+5 26 - 3 DoS - 6 Composure lost after DR3 Using +1b from status test. So I did forget the drawback, my mistake. How do I correct an extra bonus dice in the future? (The outcome at worst in this case if the highest dice was the one to drop would still give 1 DoS so still one bonus dice, which I'm using in this exchange.)]

"Please one, slight everyone else" Willas chuckles. "She'd box my ears at the mere suggestion, ser."[Objective: Friendship (Polite refusal routine) Intrigue Defense: 14 Composure: 6/12 DR: 3 charm+1b: 6d6k4+4 24 3 DoS, for 9-2=7 In this case, roll 1d5, on a 1 remove the highest, 2 second highest etc.]
