[Phase 4] Appleton Melee vs. Redtusk, Initiative Agility (Quickness): 6d6k4-3 17Balon rode alongside Normyn with the hope of winning it all. The first test was possibly the most challenging. As Ser Normyn rode to fight Ser Davos, Balon faced off against none other than Redtusk. Would Balon be up to the task? Only the Seven knew the answer to that. CD: 14 AR:10 HP: 12 F/I/W: 0/0/0

Sounds are muffled when wearing helmets, but it almost appears as if Redtusk has the fortitude to be laughing, and that after going it solo this far.
So switching to Coyotecode for the time being. Redtusk CyB, Iniative: 6D6.HIGH(4) = [1, 3, 2, 4, 6, 5] = 18 6D6.HIGH(4) = [4, 2, 1, 6, 1, 2] = 14 So 13 iniative because -1 CD: 14 AR: 11 Health: 8/12 Injuries: 1 (Tough)

Maybe Redtusk going solo had tired him, although he does seem to match Balon's defense with little effort.
25 was the score to beat. CD: 17 (14) AR: 11 Health: 1/12 Injuries: 1 (Tough) Aim+LBF I -3B: 7d6k5+3 22 for 2 damage getting through.

Though Balon did gain the advantage at first, his second blow glancing off to do nothing allows Redtusk to get in a solid hit, threatening to tilt the flow of the duel in The Arbor's favor.
Yes. CD: 17 (14) AR: 11 Health: 1/12 Injuries: 1 (Tough) Aim+LBF I -3B: 7d6k5+3 29 That should be 8 damage going through.

He'd initially gained the upper hand on an injured adversary only to let victory slip through his fingers. Now they were even and the longer the fight went the more it'd favor Redtusk. After a series of failed slashes and stabs in an attempt to get Redtusk unbalanced Balon delivered and angry blow, a reckless blow, in an attempt to end the fight. His stab struck true but he knew it hadn't been enough to get Ser Roland to yield.

A more sensible man might perhaps called it quits by now, but Redtusk already decided to go it alone to "give everyone else a sporting chance" or so he had boasted with a smile the evening before that betrayed that he knew he was good, but not that good. The man cared more for challenge than glory, but he did indeed like glory, but most of all to test himself, someone in the stands quips that the man will only leave the field under his own power as the victor, otherwise he must be carried.

Takes 4 Injuries Balon knew he wouldn't win the Melee. Redtusk's blade had cut too deep. A wise knight would yield. A wise knight would take solace in the fact he'd given Redtusk a run for his money. But Balon had never been considered wise. And since his return from the Riverlands his mood had only darkened. And now for Balon it wasn't about him winning, it was about Redtusk losing. Redtusk doesn't yield, at least not very often. But it does happen that he gets so hammered that he practically collapses and needs the attendants to get him off the field.
But he did not surrender.
Defeated.

Balon had won but only barely. As he turned his mount to look for his teammate a sudden bout of paranoia hit him. What if I maimed Redtusk? He found the thought both horrifying and exhilarating. Despite his concern he knew if anyone could escape serious injury it was Redtusk. He found Ser Normyn just in time to see him yield to the Dayne knight. What was his name again? Balon couldn't quite recall. Whatever, they all look the same. He spurred his horse on to the next fight.
***If Davos wants him and I can finish each other off or we can reorganize teams. I'm fine with whatever.***

[I'll leave it up to Father how the tourney gets handled. Interestingly, this would be the perfect time to engage in a small intrigue. It's not often that these two characters can have a relatively private chat, and it's not often that injury & fatigue penalties come in to play in an intrigue, so I find it doubly interesting.]

Overall idea was to see where things are at once all the duels have been resolved, needs to whittle down the field to a manageable free for all, but if memory serves, only reward left to win now is 1st place, so bowing out of being in the final scene might be prudent.
It's still a noisy battlefield (just nobody presumably dies), so the practicality of having a conversation may be questionable.

I think fighting each other makes sense (both mechanically and role-playing) as our teams squared off against one another and there is no reason in going our separate ways on the battlefield. As to the intrigue, I don't think the melee would really work. However Balon is by himself at Crakehall if you want to have an interaction that would seem more appropriate. He's only there to duel Robyn Starkwood and seeking me out under the guise of a concerned uncle makes sense (to me at least).

Davos was all but on his last legs after his battle with Ser Normyn, but seeing Redtusk and Balon still trading blows he limped over to the two of them, intent to put the vile reachman down before quitting the field himself. A two-on-one was hardly a fair fight, but this was a melee - it was expected to happen. Redtusk collapsed before that happened. Steeling himself against the pain wracking his body, Davos pushed himself to pick up his pace as he closed the distance. The smart thing to do would be to quit the field, but Davos had already gotten a bit too lost in the bloodlust to stop before taking down Balon.
As Balon's fight went on (4 rounds to 2), would you agree that a CYB would be warranted? P4 Appleton Melee vs Balon Init +5(WD2) -3(AP) -3(injuries) -1(fatigue): 5d6k4-2 8 Egads. Upon review, I have (somewhat surprisingly) not used my lucky reroll in the melee... so I am now.
