His cousin's finger pressed into his chest immediately focused him in on her words, his jaw closing tight to prevent from flapping open again.
"...You provide neither..."
"...You will doom the both of you..."
"...The biggest problem is with you..."

Robyn's eyes went dull as he listened, his grip tightening on the goblet he held till the metal bent, and crushed into a crinkled mess between his fingers. The wine he had barely touched burst from the opening, splashing over and coating his hand, dripping to the ground.
He hadn't noticed the cup or the wine that continued to trickle down his arm. The smile that appeared on his face was not like any he had given before. It crept slowly, starting at the corners, but it never reached his eyes; they remained dull, cold, and empty as he glowered into his cousin's eyes.
"Is that the truth, then? No victories, glory, or anything i do will be enough, all because I am myself and no one else?" Robyn squeezed tighter, the metal popping and groaning until no space was left between each side and its shape more resembled his grip. He nodded slowly as he bit his lower lip, "Fine,"
"I do not hate you, my lady. I could never hate you for answering a question I already knew the answer to, but did not want to hear," His hand released on the goblet, letting it fall to the ground with a hollow clang, moving to tuck a piece of hair behind her ear, "What was it that you said earlier? 'To accept stagnancy is to accept death'?" He rolled his shoulders back as he stood at his full height, towering over his cousin, "Then no more waiting. If love isn't enough, if *I* am not enough, then I will no longer stay stagnant and die."
Robyn brushed his wined thumb over her cheek, "Thank you, truly," while he smiled, it was clear that something in him had been crushed by her words. He wasn't angry at her, but an astute eye could tell that his rage he harbored could cause Robyn to forget himself.
