When Humfrey I Teague, the pious King of the Rivers and the Hills, began to repress worship of the old gods, Lord Roderick Blackwood of Raventree Hall rose in rebellion, followed by House Vance of Atranta and House Tully of Riverrun. Supported by the Faith Militant, Humfrey's loyalists were on the verge of defeating the rebels. Roderick sought help from the Storm King Arlan III Durrandon, with whom he was related by marriage. Arlan desired to restore the Riverlands to the Blackwoods, who had ruled as kings in the Age of Heroes.
Leading a great host of stormlanders across the Blackwater Rush, Arlan defeated the loyalists in several battles and was able to relieve the siege of Raventree. The bloody final battle took place in an afternoon between the Mother's Teats, during which the Stormlanders extinguished the line of House Teague. Humfrey died first, followed by his sons Humfrey II, Hollis, and Tyler, and finally his brother, Damon, all of whom briefly ruled as a river king. Other casualties were Roderick Blackwood, Elston Tully, and Lords Bracken, Darry, Smallwood, Vance of Atranta, and Vance of Wayfarer's Rest.

In The Great Hall, lords, knights and some ladies finds places on stands built in the yard of Whitewalls to witness a re-telling of this fabled battle, now with a large map of what is thought to have been the site of the battle having been rolled out on the ground, on each side of the map, the finalists from the Tactician's Tourney confers strategy with their lieutenants, has the situation described to them by the judges, are asked to device their strategy, the judges confer with one another, and then the storyteller vividly describes each act of the battle, the ebb and flow, other such men with glib tongues and quick wit moves about in the stands and elaborates about acts of heroisms, regaling the crowd with the re-telling of the various legendary warriors who took part in this battle, spinning out tales of their deeds and fates, before and after this battle as the commanders and the judges mulls over the next steps.
Participation and structure:
Daeron and Balon are the two main commanders.
Addam, Thaddeus, Parmen and Aerion may partake as sub-commanders, may allow main commanders to roll for them for the sake of expediency.
NPC's: Samwell Tully, Owen Roxton, Aemon Flowers, Walgrave Oakheart, Gormon Peake, Vardis Mallister, Gareth the Gray. Main commanders to roll for them for expediency.
Using warfare rules, ordinarily one might perhaps make one's own orders secret from one another, but since we're experimenting and all of this is new, it might be best to have it all out in the open with all players helping each other figuring out how this works (or doesn't work).
Picking sides:
There will be no PC heroes, only sub-commanders, NPC's will fill out the sub-commanding ranks to achieve parity.
Highest scoring participant from the first event gets to pick side first. Tie-Breaker (comes into play): Status (Reputation)+Chivalry. (But taunt option as noted below should be declared before dice are rolled). Others who qualified will fill out the ranks of sub-commanders for their side of choice, NPC's go
Lineup:
No Terrain Features of note. Stormlanders are expected to attack.
The Storm King's Host:
10x Trained Archer Militia
5x Seasoned Longbowmen
40x Trained Militia
10x Seasoned Guardsmen
5x Trained Men-At-Arms
4x Seasoned Men-At-Arms
2x Veteran Men-At-Arms
10x Trained Freeriders
The River King's Host:
8x Trained Archer Militia
4x Seasoned Longbowmen
10x Green Peasant Archers
30x Green Levies
32x Trained Militia
8x Seasoned Guardsmen
4x Trained Men-at-Arms
4x Trained Freeriders
Rewards:
If narrator's wild guess of relative strengths holds: +3 glory if winning as The River King and +1 glory if winning as The Storm King. If this is tilted so far towards one side as the narrator fears could be the case, then no glory, just bragging rights.
Benefits/Drawbacks:
Sponsor: Sponsor assists the status test and joins your team after parity has been achieved with NPC's (so +1 sub-commander).
Furious: Opponent may forego their status test to instead attempt simple intrigue (taunt) to make you pick whomever they wish you to pick (this is generally not considered a nice thing to do, which likely makes the more capable NPC's sign up for the other side).
