Still honouring Septon Abelars instructions in both their letter and their spirit, Roland and his companion in arms Ser Addam set about learning what they could of the hooded man that seemed to be the root of much of the tournament's troubles. Mayhap Ser Addam's injuries were still troubling him, or his heroics yesterday had temporarily sated his appetite for glory for Roland half expected the man to demand to take the in their inquiries. Instead the two worked well together while Lady Lysette Starling and Ser Daeron Waters pursued other avenues. Again he unsure whether to be pleased or troubled at how naturally the pursuit of such knowledge came to him. At least I am following the good Septon's words, and sticking to both noble goals and noble methods.D9 Rumours - Hooded Man Addam assist: 3d6+1 13D9 Rumours - Lord Starling poisoning plot: 3d6 12[OOC: still restricted to self imposed limit on Rumour rolls equal to Knowledge rank, -1 due to Septon Abelar's restrictions on not going too far or to dubious locations. I think Ser Addam is spending a DP for a minor clue on the hooded man search, but I'll let him confirm that.]

I will be assisting in the poisoning plot as well as spending a DP for a minor clue on the hooded man. Further action and IC dependent on what the DP gets me.

Daeron had gathered some information on the Hooded Man the previous night, but he wanted to see what Lysette could dig up first before sharing so as to prevent any sort of confirmation bias. However, he still managed to aid his cousin in the investigation.
Still going to assist Lysette, so +1 to Knowledge results

Roland and Addam finds nothing to corroborate any plot by anyone to poison Lord Starling, the hooded man also appears to have vanished entirely, with nobody matching this description having been seen anywhere since Daeron had encountered him. However, knowing of his activities and haunts, a pattern appears, contacts, haunts, sources. A list of descriptions of men who might have been collaborators or associates emerge.
A blonde hedge knight, Ser Horace of Oldtown, with a goatee staying at the Golden Rose. A Dornish dancer at the Perfumed Lady known as Esmerelle. A Merchant from Longtable, Master Jaremy, that have sailed his barge full of goods down to the docks. A one-armed knight, Ser Robert Flowers, widely believed to be corrupt, now in charge of Gardenton's customs. A young "fancy-looking" man with striking red curls, wearing fine clothes, but without the sigil or trappings of a knight or squire. Apparently not staying anywhere in Gardenton, but known to frequent the Perfumed Lady.

He scratches his head, only one of these leads had any apparent connection with his recent findings. Looking around he leans in furtively to the rest of his housemates, definitely not wanting his information to be overheard. What he found hurt him personally, as it could damage the reputation of his brother's cause, but if bad actors shamed Blackfyre with their actions, then they needed to be dealt with before they tainted the entire movement.
"Last night in Gardenton I found a man who pointed me in the direction of Lord Narbert Costayne as the handler of the Hooded Man. His evidence was thin, just like everything else we've gathered so far. He suspected that the Hightowers are using him as a loyal agent, potentially to silence rumors about Bittersteel. If this is true, then I think we should look into Ser Horace first as he's our best connection to a plot involving the Hightowers. After him we have other leads to look into, such as the Longtable merchant who would have easy access to gold, Longtable daggers, and perhaps poisons as well."

Addam was shocked at Daeron's disclosure. These vile actions must be taken care of, but to disclose this information to those of unproven loyalties could sink their cause before the validity of this information could be proven.
"Well it seems our next course of action is clear. I'll track down the leads at the perfumed lady tonight." A look of feigned disappoint played across face. "Of course a "chaperone" to protect my innocence would be welcomed. As for the merchant and the customs officer," Addam undid the knot on his coin purse and tossed it onto the table with a hefty thud. "30 gold should be enough to loosen some lips."

"I could look into that," Lysette offered, "Though I'd prefer to have one of you by my side than any of the other knights my lord father might ask to follow me."

"A sound plan Ser Addam. Ser Daeron to handle Ser Horace then and accompany Ser Addam to the Perfumed Lady later, while I escort Lady Lysette in visiting the merchant and customers master?"
Roland was no friend of Addam and Daeron's great cause, but he was reassured that so far at least both trusted that he was honourable enough to play matters straight.

[OOC: narrator, assuming we go with the plans outlined above, how would you like us to handle follow-up here? Appreciate you've got lots of demands on your time. We make separate threads? Keep things here and make various rolls specified by you as a quasi mini-event? Something else?]

After their group disbanded Daeron slid up to the bar. If he was to find this Ser Horace, the Golden Rose was a good place to start. He places two silvers on the bar, one to ask about Ser Horace and his whereabouts, the other to pay for some drinks.

Ser Horace usually takes his meals in the common room after all the festivities of the fields are over with.

Of gossip there is much to be heard, a most delicious fare. But knights with goldeen goatees appears to be in short supply.
