"Why the hell should I trust you?" Hobb spits and curses. "The crowd likes the show on the gallows"
Roland noticed that Orton gives a shrug of the shoulder and starts winding up his crossbow.

"Stay your fire, Ser, this one comes in for questioning." There had been enough talk, and he'd not risk Ser Orton putting a bolt between the man's eyes, as much as the vermin deserved it. "We'll do this the hard way then," he shouted to the murderer. The day was beginning to catch up with him or perhaps it was his unfamiliar mount, and there was every chance Ser Orton's bolt would fly before Roland could attempt to ride Hobb down and subdue him with the flat of his blade... [OOC: oops on Chivalry, corrected in at least one other place. Foul play Agility (Quickness): 4d6k3 4Foul play Fighting (Long Blades) - dropping 2B, inc talented reroll: 7d6k5+1 19 +4 from being Mounted - 6 Damage per DoS including mounted bonus, although I might not get to him in time!]

Roland manages to knock him out without much difficulty, but Hobb manages to get in a slash at his thigh, a shallow cut that should be of no threat if properly cleaned by a maester. Initiative: 3d6 5Counterattack: 3d6 13 4 damage per DoS (So just a scratch).

Too slow, thank the Seven I was not so clumsy when it was four against one...
Still, it was pleasing to have tracked the man and subdued him so swiftly. The man had earned the bruises and concussion he had received from the knight's beating, and more besides.
Roland gave the shallow cut a quick look and clean before dismounting to secure his prisoner over the back of his steed, Lord Oakheart's wisdom nagging in his head. He took up the murder weapon too, now even further convinced of its importance as evidence.
"My thanks for your forbearance Ser Orton, better to risk some small danger in exchange for whatever information this man has and letting the people see justice be done."
With that, Roland remounted and made as to rejoin Lord Durwell's party, if he could ride quickly enough, or otherwise continue through and return his quarry to Highgarden.
[OOC: not being a particularly subtle fellow, Roland will simply hand the prisoner over to Lord Tyrell's master at arms, asking permission to be involved in any subsequent interrogation and that the man be kept separate from his fellow vagrant. He's not crafty enough to try to conceal what has happened on their return to camp or to fear his captive being silenced and take him under Starling guard etc.
Unless our narrator has further plans here, off camera activities run as above, then:
- Cut sewn by Maester Marlon - Alert House Starling to what has happened (may roll this out to a full scene) - Inform Septon Abelar of what has taken place as it is an outrage against the Faith, Roland knows & respects the man and it might serve as a character building confession on Roland's indecision on whether to pursue Hobb initially or remain by Alicent's side. - Time permitting, off to a smith to check the maker's mark on Hobb's weapon. Understand if this needs to be left to D4 as IC day is moving on and I've also used up a lot of D3 narrator time/attention.
Also gives plenty of time for higher status characters to get to the prisoner(s) first.]

"I had intended to shoot him in the foot, ser." Up close, the red ants of House Ambrose on a field of yellow can be recognized on Ser Orton's hunting garb. As far as Roland can judge, he seems to be as most other knights, a professional warrior first and foremost, concerned primarily with performing their duties without any fuss, not likely to want to take any risks. To hunt down and secure Hobb and get back on the road appears to have taken more time than Lord Tyrell had cared to wait, he had sent some of his sworn swords and all his hunters to aid with the search, and to take custody of Hobb if he could be taken alive and to instruct Ser Roland to present himself to give testimony to Lord Tyrell before sundown.
No further immediate plans, though Roland is going to need to testify in front of Lord Tyrell once everyone's cleaned up after the hunt and interrogated the prisoners and such, but probably waiting a few RL days before that happens. He'll also need to point out Eryk and Hobb in front of the court sometime later. The first scene can always happen off-screen if all Roland does there is to give a truthful account of what happened.
