"Your reputation tells me much of your bravery and courage already," she assures him good-naturedly. "But I would never know you were a lonely dreamer as a boy from numbers on lists, or the boasting of knights in court. It's an important detail, I think. Else I wouldn't know you at all, no matter how many tales of jousts you might pour over my ears."She laughs. "As for me, my 'fame' comes solely from my status as an only child. It says nothing of me at all, save the whims of the gods. Which..." Lysette realizes she just made his point for him. "...is probably what you were trying to get at. Right.""Well, to start with, I wasn't exaggerating much when I said I could live in here. I have always loved libraries, since I was little. Whenever I was read to, I'd insist they do different voices at first...but it never seemed quite right. So I pushed myself to learn to read, so I could hear the voices in my own head." She smiles. "That was always much better."
Lysette waved a hand around, indicating the shelves stacked with old leatherbound tomes.
"They are whispers from the past...our final triumph over death. For while we pass away, and our bodies go into the earth, our voices can endure forever. So much wisdom and knowledge is lost each generation. I almost feel as if everyone should be required to write a book before they die, to save some small measure of them for the benefit of those left behind."
"And I should like to read those books," she muses, more to herself than anyone else now. "Every last one of them."
Abruptly Lysette realizes where she is, and more importantly, who she'swith. With a flustered laugh, and a blush coloring her cheeks, she looks back at Ser Aerion.
"There. Now we've both said more than we intended to. Now we are perfectly balanced, as everything should be."

At the compliment to his reputation, he swells with pride. And as she realizes she's making his point for him, he starts to laugh a little.
"I have never heard someone speak of books with such.. reverence." pausing slightly to find the right word. "But would that I could provide you with every book in history, those lost and those yet to be."
As the blood flushes her cheeks, he is once again enthralled anew. If there was ever any doubt as to the God's creation, let those doubters see such beauty and believe.
"As to saying too much, well, I would argue that you have not said nearly enough to sate my desires to know you more. But all things in time. We wouldn't want to spoil whatever ending the Seven have planned for us."

"All things in time," Lysette agrees with a bob of her head.
She then looks curiously at the spot that Aerion manipulated to open the secret door. "Can you show me how this works? How many know of it?"

"Is the lady so eager to divour my secret and strip me of the only unique edge I posess to compete with the rest of the reach for her heart?" he asks her, pretending to be wounded, placing his hand on his heart as if stabbed.
The young knight shrugs slightly at the question. "I know not how many know of it, but I have never seen another person inside nor have I ever been disturbed while in there. I'm sure Lady Margery, Seven bless her, knows everything there is to know of this place and more besides? Maybe some of the old servants, if they ever risked such explorations? "

Lysette nodded at that, then said, "So it's my heart you're after, hm? A more difficult target than my name and lands, but I appreciate your ambition."
She looks again at the little reading nook.
"Surely you didn't mean to show me this and then keep the secret to yourself?" Lysette parries with a winsome smile. "Is it strictly chivalrous to be such a tease?"

"Lands can be taken and a hand can be forced. The true prize, in love as in all things, is one that must be earned. The heart is such a prize. None bu you can give it, and that makes it a prize worth pursuing." says Aerion, again laughing at himself a little for being such a romantic.
"It's not strictly chivalrous.." he says, returning a smile to his face. "But it is quite fun."
"But you are right. It would be dishonest of me to hold hostage such a treasure from one who would truly appreciate it. If I may have your hand?" he says while holding out his own.
If she allows him to take hers in his, he'll make a quip about expecting it to be harder to receive her hand, but the he guides it behind the shelf and brings her hand in contact with a small catch. Applying a little pressure through her hand makes the catch release, and the door responds accordingly. Then, pushing the door shut again, he lefts the clasp to allow it to close fully.
"There. Now you can come and go as you please. Feel free to update the artwork, if you want. It could use a woman's touch" he adds with another chuckle.

"From your barely cooled ardor," teased Lysette with a smile, "It's not the only thing."
She then leaned over to search for the seam in the shelves...the places where one might spot the outlines of a door. Like a cat, perhaps, pretending to ignore the one thing in the room it was truly interestedin.
It could be spotted, she decided, but only if one knew precisely where to look and what to look for. It was cunningly made, this thing.
Finally Lysette turned back to gaze up at Aerion again.
"I should be going," she said with a hint of apology in her words. "It has been...unexpectedly entertaining meeting you though. You'll pass on my words to your sister, and Ashara? I should like to see them again." She smiled. "And you as well, perhaps."

A brief pause at the quip, and then he nods.
"Yes, lest we have everyone whispering about our absence." although it wouldn't be the worst thing for Aerion to have rumours swirling of the two of them together.
"I will indeed pass on your words, I expect they will send someone tomorrow to see if you are free."
