"There may have been no ladies, but I was present. He should have known better. In any case, my concern is less that he will speak out of turn and more that he will act upon his debauch words. If he despoils a maiden, it will become known." Abelar does not say that he will publicize such an act, but he leaves the option open. "If he falls, ladies like Sybelle Oakheart will not entertain his courtship."
(her first action is absorbed by DR, dealing with the 8 influence by taking a second point of frustration) [D2 Shrew] Persuasion (Intimidate) x2: 2#6d6k4+2 19 22 (2 DOS each at (10-5=5), so this takes her to 2 Composure and then to defeat, unless she takes frustration on one or both of these; if she takes it on the first one, then the second hits 3 DOS, forcing defeat/frustration again) ID: 8 Frustration: 2 Composure 4/12 Disposition: Indifferent

"You forget septon, that my son was squired to Ser Quentyn Ball and knighted by him as well, that his training and instructions lead to an unhealthy amount of resentment towards Ser Walton Wyl and the Dornish cannot exactly be surprising, however regrettable. But an exemplar of chivalry deemed fit to wear the white cloak would surely have hammered sufficient restraint into him that should the temptation present itself, he will do the right thing." Shiera does not seem concerned at all. "Ser Donnel and I have his virtue under control, do rest assured of that. His marriage prospects? That is where he needs all the help he can get, and your efforts, however grateful we are for your intent, would be wasted on shadowing him..
Intrigue Defense 12 with +1 frustration DR: 5 Composure: 2 with +1 frustration Convince: 2#6d6k4-1 12 21You'll have to take two frustration to negate the 8 (It's 12-4=8, reduce by 4 for each frustration taken), meaning that first test is a 2 DoS vs 6, for another 4 past DR, if there is a last test needed, it turns out to be 4 DoS which is 12 past DR, she doesn't take frustration before that last test, but it looks very much like you're all out of frustration and composure now.

It's true that Fireball's chivalry was overmatched only by his temper . . . Balon may be trying to impress his mentor with this foolery. "Perhaps my assistance on the matter of betrothal will straighten his course. If he sees the whole house laboring on his behalf, he will rein in his impulses." She made a good point regarding Sybelle Oakheart as well. The maid has chaste reputation, though such things will require further inquiry. "I will speak to Septon Vortimer regarding Sybelle Oakheart, to see whether she is otherwise being courted and so forth." Of course the septon's review of Sybelle will be thorough.
Abelar is defeated. I interpret his defeat to mean that he will assist in securing Lady Sybelle Oakheart for Balon, though he considers investigating Sybelle's virtue to be part of this task.

That would be very kind of you, good septon. Lady Shiera almost smiled, which is pretty much the only sign of being pleased that Abelar had ever seen from her. And I agree with such wise words, I think I shall see to it that my son receives some overdue lessons in how I expect him to behave, his ears remains mine to box until I turn him over to a wife to rule.
Given how the carnival is turning out, it's probably best for Abelar and the Blackbriars and the tranquility in the Reach that he does not attend. Would make for amusing story, though.
Also, scene I think.

I strive to amuse, though the dice thwarted me this time. I don't think there's another obvious way to get an invite, so it looks like I'll be sitting out the masquerade.
