***CYB would be up to Father. While my duel went two rounds longer than yours I don't how much ground you had to cover to get to me.*** Exhausted and bloodied, Balon did his best to ready himself for the Dornishman. He'd already accepted the fact he wasn't going to win the melee. It's not about me winning, it's about making sure he loses. A petty thought, but one that was all too common with Balon. His injuries had slowed him and it appeared the Davos had the advantage. [Phase 4] Appleton Melee vs. Davos, Initiative, Agility (Quickness): 6d6k4-5 12CD: 14 AR:10 HP: 2/12 F/I/W: 2/4/0 (Tough)

Most times I assume both has time for one CyB in "unstructured" setups like this, too many variables.

[Phase 4] Appleton Melee vs. Davos, CYB, Endurance (Stamina) TN0: 6d6k4-2 4, 1 DoS, lolToo tired. Too slow. No matter what Balon did, he wasn't ready for what was bearing down on him. Of course he'd attack me after I spent myself against Redtusk. Balon thought to himself completely ignoring the fact he'd do the exact same thing. _________________________ CD: 14 AR:10 HP: 3/12 F/I/W: 2/4/0 (Tough)

He killed Vorian. I'm almost certain of it. He disrespected Ashara. He hates us Dornish for no reason. He murdered a pregnant woman to start a war.Davos was tempted to draw the greatsword he had worn as a symbol, but did not do so. I don't just want to kill him. I want his crimes to be known. I want his name to be reviled. I want his family to be disgusted and disown him. Then I want to kill him."For Starfall! For Dayne!" he yelled as he drove his horse forward with a powerful and fury-filled strike. The sort of reckless strike that the master of arms at Starfall would rebuke him for, as he left himself wide open for a counterattack. The sort of strike that his wife would have derided as the act of a 'western barbarian'. By all the hells his wife would have already called him one for not having yielded earlier. P4 R&B CYB: 4d6-4 12 3 DoS Round 1 Take fatigue to ignore injuries. Reckless Stance P4 R&B R1 Knockdown (-2 fatigue): 6d6k4-2 15 Vs. Passive Agility(Balance) is probably a failure. Unless injuries & fatigue apply to passive attributes? I don't remember. I will present both options below.Forgot we were mounted, so this wasn't an option to begin with. Instead the far less interesting option of Aim. P4 R&B R1 Reckless Attack (+1D RA +1b talented +1 talented +1 sup sword +1 mounted -2 fatigue): 9d6k6+1 33P4 R&B R1 Aim bonus die: 1d6 4 no change. not that it would have mattered anyway with that roll. 33 vs CD 14 is 4 DoS, 5/Dos = 20, - 10 AR = 10. I believe that puts you into Wound or Defeat territory. CD: 9 (14-5), AR 10 Health: 5/12, 3 Injuries, 2 Fatigue

Balon takes a Wound. Fatigue to ignore Wound.
[Phase 4] Appleton Melee, vs. Davos, Reckless Attack + Aim: 10d6k6-1 22, 3 DoS, The Dice gods aren't favoring me right now. 18 - 10 AR = 8 Damage to DavosSer Davos' blade cut deep. Almost as deep as Ser Vorian's had right before Balon killed him in cold blood. He could feel the blood run down his side under his breastplate. Another scar caused by a Dayne. He thought bitterly. Bruised, cut, stabbed, and spent beyond measure any sensible man would quit. But Balon was anything but sensible. His anger and hatred of anything Rhoynish gave him one last burst of energy, contempt given physical form, but it wasn't meant to be. The swing was wild and reckless and while he managed to hit his enemy it wasn't with the same power as Ser Davos. When the Rhoynish knight didn't slump in his saddle or fall off his horse Balon braced for the return blow. [Phase 4] Appleton Melee, vs. Davos, Self Control TN12: 4d6k3 14Keep fighting. A booming voice screamed in his mind. Murder, death, kill. The voice chanted over and over. Balon clenched his jaw. No. Do not succumb. Live to fight another day.A wet cough sprayed blood on the inside of his horned helm. Balon bellowed defiantly. "Come on, kill me! Do it now! I'm right here. Do it! Prove to everyone I'm right about your kind." _________________________ CD: 9 (14) AR:10 HP: 3/12 F/I/W: 3/4/1 (Tough)

The gurgle of blood in Balon's mouth, the sneering tone of his voice, the idiotic racism... rage and bloodlust surged, but then he heard Aria's voice in his head. I don't remember marrying such a fool, ñuhys endie rhinkys azantys . Vengeance is not justice. You are the better man by far - do not sully yourself over this dobotēdys mittys . Jāha muña bykys dȳñes issa kepa tōmītsos jorykynzā .With a silent chuckle, the bloodlust and rage cooled to an icy calm. "Nothing would make me happier than getting vengeance on my brother's murderer." Davos bellows as loud as he could. " Unlike you, however, I respect the sanctity of hospitality, of bread and salt. I will kill you, but not here, not now."He strikes again at Balon, but this time putting more emphasis on defense than offense. So long as he did not take any further injuries he need only wait for Balon to pass out from blood loss. "You ought to yield. Yield to your better, while you still have the strength to speak."
Take an injury to reduce the damage to 4. Take a Fatigue to ignore injuries Aim + Cautious Attack P4 R&B R2 Cautious Attack (-1D RA +1b talented +1 talented +1 sup sword +1 mounted -3 fatigue): 9d6k4 20 vs CD 9, 3 DoS 18-10AR = 8 damage (note: I forgot to take Mounted into account on the previous round's damage, but it is moot as you took a Wound anyway). Bowed. Bent. Broken. Davos' strike cut deep into Balon's flesh and he winced as he felt blood soak his undershirt. As much as he wanted to continue to fight Balon knew his body's limit and he was rapidly approaching it. For this duel the scales had irrevocably tipped into the Dornishman's favor and nothing short of divine intervention would change the outcome. A tiny part of him wanted to continue but he asked himself why? Why die in a tournament that will be forgotten by the new year? Why die when he had so many scores and petty vendettas to settle. Why continue to fight when he'd already beat the great Redtusk. It was time to swallow his pride and admit defeat. I will kill you, but not here, not now." Davos couldn't see the smile but could hear it in Balon's voice. "Good luck."While maintaining a defensive posture Balon lowered his weapon. "I yield!" he said loud enough for those paying attention to hear him. In a much quieter tone he added, "To the vulture waiting in the wings to finish me off after my duel with Redtusk." Denial and delusion were powerful tools for Balon. With that Balon turned his horse to leave the melee, bloody but alive.

Davos shook his head faintly at Balon's delusional rambling. The man was a fool at best.
Not dignifying it with a reply, he instead opted to prove himself the better man. Sheathing his sword he took hold of Balon's arm - careful to control where the blackguards sword pointed, and half-carried the wounded man off the field.
"Maesters! Tend to this madman's wounds before he dies of his own stupidity."
Waving off any such attentions for himself, he turns and the assessed the remaining field. Sers Daeron, Roland, and Aubrey, each a skillful foe, and each looking far fresher then any man ought have the right to be this far into a melee. Sighing, he spoke more to himself than anyone specific.
"I suppose Fourth will do." Especially given my lack of teammates and the 'tender attentions' of Walgrave's toadies.
He considered making his way into the castle town to find some good drink and maybe a willing woman, as had been his way of winding down from a battle prior to his marriage, but decided against it.
I'm sure there are more than a few in attendance that would take the opportunity to finish what Walgrave started. I can't afford to lower my guard right now. Not to mention that there are those who would gleefully find fault with my behavior and tarnish House Starkwood's reputation.

Balon was confused when Davos sheathed his sword. Surely it's a trap. He thought. No doubt he'll pull a dagger and try to finish me off. Balon's confusion turned to surprise when Davos led him to the edge of the melee and called for a maester. For the briefest of moments Balon (begrudgingly) considered uttering a thank you, his memory going back to the time he and Ashara had worked together to save a drowning lady. Being called a madman quickly put an end to that thought.
Balon straightened in the saddle. He was wounded and injured but he'd be damned if he let anyone think he was on the verge of passing out (which given his current state wasn't out of the question). Keeping his helmet on to hide the strain on his face he dismounted and headed for the maester's tent doing his best to stay upright and not stumble. His squire quickly followed Balon in and helped him out of his armor. Most cuts would heal in a day or two but two deep slashes from Davos' sword would require stitches.
Balon's squire had a strong stomach and wasn't squeamish. He was forced to be that way after his family was killed in the Riverlands. Regardless Balon made sure he watched the maesters apply Myrish Fire before sewing him up. "These scars are the reminders of carelessness and failure. Learn from them." When the maester's work was done Balon and his squire returned to their encampment. Food, drink, and rest was all Balon cared about for the remainder of the evening. /scene for Balon unless you have something else. Well done!

/scene for me too. I doubt either Balon or Davos are right-headed enough to talk about Vorian. Also I forgot that we were mounted when I wrote my previous post...
