Laena blinks, and her fingers tap air as she processes the information. Immediately, she's reminded of her suspicions that House Dayne may seek revenge for Ser Vorian's murder. Hrm. "No doubt he's intimidated by the vast power and influence of House Starkwood." She suggests dryly. "Or maybe he's afraid that people may ask obvious questions like 'what exactly does he think Lady Allyria did?' I'm aware Dorne has warrior women, but it's not like that's a hereditary trait. If Dornish women could pick up a blade for the first time and defeat seasoned and talented knights, w- The Reach would never have made any headway at all against Dorne." She gives a long-suffering sigh. "Still, if Ser Jasper's murder was done by who I suspect it was, I'm already working that situation, and will hopefully be able to wrap it up before it goes critical. Urgh." She rubs her forehead with her fingertips a few moments. "What I wouldn't give for more resources, a small armed force, faster travel and communication, and just more hours in the day. And while I'm at it, being a few years younger and beautiful enough to make the Seastar jealous." She snorts in amusement, before turning more serious. "My apologies. I appreciate the information." And hopefully you're pleased by the information I 'let slip' that I'm already looking into it, given the obvious suspects.

"A lady is quite capable of working through intermediaries, no? Or so I would think Lord Walgrave would accuse her of being complicit in the murder" Alicent states matter-of-factly. "Ordinarily, one would think Lord Tyrell would dismiss such accusation and forbid his vassal to act upon them unless the evidence would be compelling enough to warrant arrests, but if Highgarden does nothing, what prevents Old Oak from simply arresting them if given the chance, having the sly sense to obtain forgiveness where permission would not have been given is how most lords gets ahead as Lady Margaery is quite fond of telling."

[Forgot about this thread. Whoops!]
"Hrm. I'll send her a .. carefully worded letter. If I frame it as being in Robyn's best interest, I should be able to persuade her to stay relatively safe, for a while at least. Long enough, hopefully." She inclines her head in a small gesture of gratitude.

"Would not simply informing her of the truth make her take the appropriate amount of caution?" Alicent muses. "Though I have heard stories of Rhoynar women with the inclination to simply ride to Old Oak and dare Lord Walgrave to arrest her and charge her with the murder, with no fear of the consequences for her, caring only for the fact that if he does put her on trial, she exposes him to all The Reach for what he is"
"Or maybe just the ones with more rational views concerning us Southrons..."
As far as Laena knows Lady Allyria, she does not seem the type to act in such spectacular fashion.

Laena chuckles lightly. "Nothing so .... dramatic. I simply fear that she is not always the most patient, nor does she have great reason to have faith in me. Phrased poorly, she may simply try and enact her own solution rather than wait for mine. And having multiple plans with the same objective seldom goes well." She bitterly remembers some idiot stabbing Maegelle Cordwayner with a blade that wasn't even poisoned, giving her a perfect alibi at a ball where Laena had expended significant coin and effort to besmirch her reputation. She shrugs. "Maybe I worry over nothing, but as the saying goes, 'the cautious seldom err'."

"But they might miss opportunities."

"The inobservant may miss opportunities. The cautious would maybe choose to not take advantage of them." She shrugs. "And maybe it would work out. But when the stakes are high, it's very easy to push for someone else to roll the dice. Much harder when it's your flesh and blood being staked. If you need to win every wager, you choose your bets carefully." She gives a small smile. "Or you make your own game, with your own rules, if you can get others to play. Or cheat, of course. Not that I'd ever do that myself, naturally." Whether that last statement is a deliberate joke or not is unclear from her tone.

Might just call it a scene with that, I'm running out of ideas for banter to add.
