Robyn moved through the crowd to the Footlys, his face giving grace but eyes intense as he whispered to them, “My lord and lady, it appears one of your party is in need of assistance,” he gently grabbed Lord Footlys shoulder, leaning in closer, “Your daughter is safe, for now, but she needs your help and I need to get you out of here,” he pulled back, eyes looking between them before nodding, and began to lead them towards where he left Lady Wenda but a few moments ago

Ysilla thinks it over, she likes the idea...except she isn't *that* good. She knows how to fight, sure, but mostly with knives and such, and enough with the lance to at least hold average knights to draws. If she is to hammer away at armored oafs with a sword, being a girl is a bit of a disadvantage. A small smile. "Understood. A duel not limited to swords on foot, against someone not too formidable. I cannot promise if or when such an opportunity will arise, given the limitations, but if and when it does, I will think of ..." a brief smirk "him."

Davos steels his nerve and walks - calmly - into the lion's den: the space in front of Lord Oakheart's table. Most of the eyes in the room were focused there, and that is what Davos wanted. His own approach no doubt drew even more eyes, many of which were likely more interested in exchanging blows than words.
"Lord Oakheart," he begins, his voice filled with unfeigned sadness. "I offer my deepest condolences. It is no secret that we are far from allies and will never be friends, but that does not mean I am pleased by this turn of events. On the contrary, it is only a sad reminder of my brother and my niece, both murdered this past year. No man deserves to have his kin slain merely because of their shared heritage. We may have been foes across the battlefield in the Riverlands, but on this I think we can agree."
He pauses, the shadows of grief evident on his face.
"I do not know who killed your nephew, but I condemn any murder. It is the act of a coward too afraid of honest combat to strike at us directly. Murderers - and those who send them on their bloody missions - deserve the harshest punishment of the Father."
His eyes turn hard as he scans the crowd, meeting as many eyes as possible, making sure to include Balon's.
"There is at least one murderer in the room, and I know I am not the only one that wants to see them be punished for their crime."
He turns back to Lord Oakheart.
"What say you, my lord, will you stand together with me in the name of justice?"
Note: Robyn did not mention Wenda or the Footlys by name until speaking with Roland, which was after Davos had separated from that group. And did not recognize Wenda and Arys when they departed. Thus everything he said is true.

Lord Walgrave had almost hoped Davos stepped forward to confess, but much as it might disappoint him, he does not believe Davos to be the murderer, but he cares not for Davos motivations, nor his words, whether it is grand-standing to score political points on his nephews death or a genuine olive branch, does it matter? Every court is full of snakes eager to profit on another's misfortune, the Dornish ones only differed in the venom dripping from their fangs. And if he wanted to make peace between them? Well, piss on that, Walgrave would see the man in the ground, preferably sooner than later. He does not deign himself to with more than the customary courtesy of a Thank you, ser. Before quickly taking his attentions back to his informal council with Lord Appleton, looking on with grim determination as Balon informs him of the Footly's role in this. Walgrave being no fool does not have to tell Lord Appleton to do anything, simply relying on fear of his power and influence to make Lord Addison act exactly as desired. "Ser Rodrik, have your men search for Lady Wenda." He orders his captain of the guard. "And send for the Footly's to quietly join me in my Solar" he sighs, apparently resigned to everyone being about to know what was going on. Lord Walgrave simply states that his own men will assist in the search, perhaps knowingly setting about a manhunt, for that man must be aware that any sycophant and Dornish-hater is like to join the search the moment they become aware of it. Lord Footly is taken aback by Robyn's words. "Where is my daugher, ser, and why do I need to get out of here?" Willpower: 6d6k4 18So Walgrave has the self-control to keep his wits about him in order to get what he wants. Davos/Balon should declare their intent to go to where the Footly's are (if that's what they feel like doing next) so as to best avoid any time paradoxes. Those who want can try cunning (logic) tests to see if there's anything the narrator thinks your PC's maybe should have considered.

Appleton Feast - Cunning (Logic): 5d6k4 19 As far as I'm concerned, Laena's done her part for money justice, and is just enjoying food, casual conversation, and watching power dynamics play out while observing from the sidelines. But there's always the possibility of an idea occuring to her as she does so.

Wenda Footly... I can't say I know much about her, but that fits with what Robyn told me. Davos thinks to himself.
He had been expecting a larger reaction, from the Dornish-haters among Oakheart's sycophants if not from the wily old man himself. Well, an understated response was better than a rage-fueled blade in the belly any day.
Though the day is young and I still have to buy some time for Robyn...
He glance again at Balon.
...and perhaps an opportunity for two birds with one stone.
My initial thought is that Davos would start asking Balon questions about where he got his information from, and also about the murder of Vorian Dayne. However, that has the potential to derail the scene and/or other players, so I will wait for others to chime in before I open up that can of worms.

Lord Walgrave simply states that his own men will assist in the search, perhaps knowingly setting about a manhunt, for that man must be aware that any sycophant and Dornish-hater is like to join the search the moment they become aware of it. Lord Eddard and his kin would be easy enough to corral as they were currently in the hall. If they were smart they'd accept the offer of refuge in Lord Addison's solar as opposed to trying to leave and be at the mercy of Walgrave's men. Wenda was nowhere to be found and Balon went through the possible scenarios of where she might be. If this was an accident she'll either panic and flee or be close by, possibly in shock, possibly hiding. If she was an unwitting pawn she'd run to her father to seek his protection. Or... she did this out of malice and left her family to suffer the consequences while she made her way through a well thought out escape route. Balon didn't know much about Wenda but he doubted the third possibility. "Lord Walgrave, we'll find her." Balon moved with a purpose, not outright running but quickly gathering those he knew shared his anti-Dornish feelings or sought a powerful lord's boon. [Phase 4] Appleton Feast, Cunning (Logic): 3d6 13 - Where would Balon go if he was sneaking off for some lewd behavior? ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Priority 1 - Balon will join, gather, or lead a search party for Lady Wenda. If I'm reading Father's post correctly the majority of the Footlys are in the hall and unless they make a break for it the Appleton guards/servants will escort them to the solar. In the unlikely event the Footlys do make some absurd run for it Balon and his goon squad would intercept them if possible. As to Davos, if he tried to engage Balon in any sort of dialogue he'd ignore him. Sycophant gotta sycophant.

Lord Footly is taken aback by Robyn's words. "Where is my daugher, ser, and why do I need to get out of here?"
Those who want can try cunning (logic) tests to see if there's anything the narrator thinks your PC's maybe should have considered. Robyn kept his voice low, trying to get the Footly's to move along with Roland and Mikel towards where he left Wenda, trying to alleviate his fears without creating too much of a commotion, "Keep a level head, my lord. We must leave before Lord Walgrave's outburst is the subtlest thing he does tonight," he made eye contact, making sure not to show fear but focused determination, "Your worry about your daughter is better answered by her in person, let us go to her,"He would be sure to keep an open eye towards his Uncle and those he was with, but he never made it obvious. His focus was entirely on getting the Footly's to their daughter. TAF: Act 3- Cunning: 3d6 5 Yeah, he totally knows everything, what else could he possibly be forgetting, right?

Laena finds that most of the enjoyment and conversation has been subdued, a lot are quietly nibbling at the food and drink, not knowing what else to do under the circumstances. The feast would appear to be over, with Ser Jorgen, one of the usual gluttons known for little else than his shameless appetite and words spoken behind his back about how his mail must frequently be refitted with ever more rings to fit him inside, having started in a hurry to gulf down on what's there, the juices dripping from his stuffed mouth to trickle down his chin, and then the chin below his chin. Balon would assume that searching near the smithy may be prudent, this is also where Ser Jason Norridge whose speech appears to have more swearing than substance directs his fellow Oakheart knights to go with the intent of fanning out, Lord Appleton's captain of the guards appears to have as much the same idea, or just want to make sure that no Oakheart knights finds her without any of his own men close at hand to take her into custody. He could tag along either group, but it might be better to look elsewhere, just in case she might have wandered far. There does not appear to be any search party in need of leadership, the Appleton men have their officers, and the Oakheart knights know each other well from daily sparring. Davos gets icy glances, but Lord Walgrave seems to largely prefer his knights to be of the dangerous kind, disciplined and falling in line, with one drunken exception only serving up such insults as their liege approves of, which is to say, none of the sort. Deathly glares of warning towards any who might threaten to be inclined to be friendly towards a man their Lord hates seems to be their way, but their new mission takes priority, Davos gets no attention from them now. Lord Footly barely has time to nod in agreement and rise before noting that the Appleton captain of the guard is striding towards them with purposeful steps. "Lord Footly, we will need you and your family to come with us." The man looks around the table where they are seated. "Lady Wenda? She is not here?" Lord Footly can do naught but say he does not know where she is, but demands to know what this is about. It is obvious to Robyn that others had seen the same as he had and informed Lord Appleton, and of course, Lord Walgrave had learned given how his knights are marching towards the smithy. He could tell the Appleton men where to find her, or not. The only thing he knows for sure is that of all his options, neither one remotely looking good, risking the Oakhearts reaching Wenda before anyone else is undoubtedly the worst.
Robyn chances: TN 10 of getting out of the courtyard (you were tardy): 2d6 7Critical failure would have been much more fun, but alas.....

Instead, she nurses her wine, finds a discreet corner with good visibility, and settles in to watch the evening's entertainment on her own.

Robyn chances: TN 10 of getting out of the courtyard (you were tardy): 2d6 7Critical failure would have been much more fun, but alas..... He was almost out. He was almost able to help the Footlys escape without having anyone notice. But as his glance turned to the Appleton captain of the guard, purposeful steps in tow, Robyn realized that the plan he had made was going to need a little improvisation. When the man said Lady Wenda's name, Robyn knew that he would need to get to her faster than anyone else. His body tensed as his eyes followed where the Oakhearts were heading, and looking for a way to cut them off on his path to her, beat them there somehow. His next words he made towards the group, quiet enough that others outside the circle couldnt hear them, but with a firm confidence that had hints of commanding urgency to them, "I know where she is. And she needs help," He looked toward Mikel and Roland, giving a nod, "I promised her I would be right back, dont make a liar out of me," Giving a wave, he pivoted and began to head towards her last known location. Robyn's pace was probably a little faster than casual, but he wanted to make sure he arrived first. He had spent too much time talking, explaining the situation, and she might be found by the wrong people first. Chastising himself, he tried to help lead the captain and his compatriots to Wenda. Hopefully he would get there before the Oakheart dogs did.
Not tardy, just prepared for anything

There does not appear to be any search party in need of leadership, the Appleton men have their officers, and the Oakheart knights know each other well from daily sparring. As Balon left the hall he visualized the castle grounds. Starting at the smithy he mentally worked his way out in concentric circles, thinking of places a lady could hide. The Oakheart and Appleton men would fan out in waves and Balon wanted to be well ahead of them. When he was clear of the crowd he broke off into a sprint, determined to be the one to find Wenda. He'd guessed there were several spots she could hide then considered places she might flee to when the hunting party neared her position. He was only one man but he could easily overpower a girl if she tried to resist. In truth he hoped she didn't, he would find no joy in hurting her but as he'd told Laena at Highgarden he viewed people as pieces to be moved on a board. Wenda would be a pawn sacrifice for Lord Walgrave. Acceptable.______________________________________________________________________Fire PCs are free to join Balon if they want. He'll move quickly to check hiding spots and make it to the "edge" of his mental map then double back if need be and hope the search parties flush Wenda to him.

Robyn and his companions makes good pace, and yet they arrive no sooner than two of Lord Appleton's men also spots her and calls out "You will need to come with us M'Lady" she merely gives them a look and meekly starts to stand, head held low in apparent resignation that this would happen eventually, she knows her likely fate, but finds in her no will to struggle against it. Robyn and his companions could intervene of course, although the wisdom of doing anything to obstruct Lord Appleton's pursuit of justice is surely questionable. At the very least, these are decidedly not Oakheart men. Balon searches in vain, it is not that his efforts are foolish, merely in vain for starting at the wrong corner of the castle, he eventually learns that she has been found. Robyn getting there before anyone else is TN 7: 2d6 4TN 7 for Robyn has control....critic failure=fun: 2d6 6Chance TN's set so that critical failure being possible, the second one being a "fail-safe", had first one been 7+, Robyn&co would have just enough time to try something creative if they wanted before others arrived, second being something like: Success would make them come first...but not had time to do something creative. But I didn't so much sketch out all possible outcomes as working with the specific outcomes of the dices. If Wenda is taken into custody by the Appleton's, then it's on to act 4, if Robyn&co decides to prevent it (very foolish, but probably very fun), they'll have act 3 all to themselves for a while and then act 4 will be very, very different than narrator had imagined.

Post by Daeron Wildfyre on Jun 3, 2021 16:39:36 GMT 1
Like many of the other guests, Daeron's evening was ruined by the ugly events between the Oakhearts and the Footlys. Where only an hour earlier there was mirth and celebration, there now only existed a subdued meal with everyone forcing awkward small-talk. All he could do was to let his thoughts spiral even deeper as he thought of ever more paranoid scenarios.
What were the Footlys thinking, attacking Lord Walgrave like this? At best they're enemies, but it must have taken a very powerful friend giving them assurances for them to have the confidence to strike so openly at House Oakheart, but who could give those guarantees? Despite his general orneriness he doesn't have any dangerous nemeses in the Reach and Tumbleton is too far from Dorne to expect any real support; however, it is close to the Crownlands and the Iron Throne has plenty of reasons to ensnare Lord Oakheart in some web.
Giving a weary sigh, Daeron gets up from his seat and begins to walk over to Lord Walgrave. Despite their general chilliness towards one another, he wasn't willing to see a powerful ally destroyed so readily. Giving him a respectful bow, he gives his brief message.
"My Lord, claim your justice but nothing more for I fear that you are being led into a trap by the Iron Throne. Bloodraven is certainly looking for an opening to have you brought to King's Landing in shackles, so give him no such excuse. The Footlys must have a trial."
He doubted that his words would have any real sway in the matter, mostly because few men would be willing to listen to one named "Wildfyre" on the topic of calming down, but at least he could say that he did his duty in protecting an ally.
Willing to roll a Persuasion (Convince) if it will have any effect on Walgrave.
