You could move 4 yards and take -1D to hit someone at 6 yards (5 and 6 would be adjacent). But unless you are referring to the table under advanced reach (which we are not using), I don't see where you have the can do 1 yard away from (other than the -1D houserule option).

CD: 15 (12) AR: 6 Health: 12/12 Movement: 5/20 I/W/F: 0/0/0 LA 1: CA v. remaining guard P3-TToTWS Turn 12: Cautious Attack (Talented, Superior B. Sword): 7d6k4+2 21 4 DoS 8x4=32-7=25 dmg LA 2: Move 5 yards towards next set of guards After the first guard fell Mikel noticed those who had climbed with him still standing where they came up at. They should have been behind and around him by now - avoiding the remaining guard and making their way to the gate as quickly as possible. Only killing somebody if he was in there way, otherwise avoiding them. But now he had to take more time to kill the second man instead of running ahead, because then his group would be separated and if more guards came to reinforce this one that separation would turn catastrophic for them. Right now time was life, and as time accumulated the odds are on their life and success diminished. He lunged forward, still gripping his bastard sword as if it were a short spear but punching the point through the mail and padding and chest beneath it. As the second guard collapsed he ripped his sword free and turned to mutter, "Time is life", before closing his distance to the gate and the next set of guards between he and it.

One guard goes down, the others are pushed back, the Starkwood knights may have gained ground, but now they face a stronger defensive line.
Note the one: Because the tactical setup changes, the last roll by Mikel will have to be invalidated. Note the second: If you edit new information into a post, there's a real risk I will miss it. Let's see: Response: 1d4-1 2 So two new guards, arrive, for streamlining, new guards arrive at the guard turn and take the counterattack action. Guard 1b retreats 6 yards. Counterattack resolutions: -If both Robyn and Mikel walk up to them, they'll take an attack each, if just one PC walks up to them, he takes both attacks. -If Robyn and/or Mikel takes -1D to attack from 1 yard away, guards will do the same (and treats it as if PC walking up to them). Adaptive scenario conditions: -Guard 1b now reinforces block 2, requiring you to defeat two of the three guards to break it. Mikel: 5 Yards Robyn: 5 Yards Guard 1b (cautious): 11 Yards Guard 2a: 11 Yards Guard 2b: 11 Yards Block 2: 10 yards. Gatehouse: 16 Yards

(OOC: Sorry about that! From now on I will just post a new post!) LA 1: Move 4 Yards LA 2: Standard Attack vs Guard 2a TToWS: Challenge 2 Standard Attack Guard 2a -1D for Distance away, -1D for Cautious, 1B Training Penalty: 5d6k3+2 16 3 DoS, Powerful doesn't increase the damage anymore, correct? If not, 5x3 = 15-7 AR= 8 Damage, Shattering 1 Penalty to their Combat Defense CD: 16 (13) AR: 6 Health: 12/12 I/W/F: 0/0/0 Robyn knew that this was going to be a push, and that at least one of those Halberds was coming for him. But his resolve was strong, and how bad could one of them really hurt? He strode forward, howling as he swung the ball and chain down into his opponent, staying a far enough away to hopefully not be hit by the pointed end of their weapons

In this case, with them not having shields, powerful is just piercing 2. It also looks like you kept one too many dice there with -2D in total (also missing a talented reroll, but with 2 kept dice being sixes that is irrelevant), for 2x5-7=3.

CD: 15 (12) AR: 6 Health: 12/12 Movement: 5/20 I/W/F: 0/0/0 LA 1: Move 5 yards LA 2: Cautious Attack (I'm assuming Robyn attacked the guard on left or right side, so Mikel will attack the one in the middle) P3-TToTWS Turn 12: Cautious Attack (Talented, Sup. B.Sword): 7d6k4+2 25 4 DoS = 28 dmg - 7 AR = 21 dmg ***I believe I have been adding one too many to my 'powerful' damage (+2 instead of +1) but it wouldn't have effected outcome of previous guard. Also, if Mikel could only move 4 yards he would need to take the -1D for range, but with him moving 5 yards he does not need to since the guard is now 1 yard away, correct?*** He watched the guard fall back and join two more who had come up but stopped nearly twenty feet away. Robyn ran by and set his ball and chain to howling, swinging into one man while Mikel came up beside him and a few feet closer to the line of guards and thrust his sword into the chest of one of them. He quickly pulled the blade free in expectation of having to parry a heavy cut from one or two halberds.

One on one, these men are no match for proper knights, but in numbers they can still overwhelm him. As of yet, the heroes are making good progress. Response: 1d4-1 1 Arrives on 16 yards (as will presumably all new arrivals from now on) Counterattacks, Mikel, Robyn: 5d6k4 10 5d6k3 14 Missed. LA 1: Attack Guard 2a LA 2: Distract Guard 1B TToWS: Challenge 2 Standard Attack Guard 2a -1D for Cautious, 1B Training Penalty: 6d6k3+2 19 3 DoS for 3x5= 15-7= 8 Damage TToWS: Challenge 2 Distract Test Vs Guard 1b: 3d6 7 Don't think that did it, but hey, it was an attempt none the less CD: 16 (13) AR: 6 Health: 11/12 I/W/F: 0/0/0 Robyn pushed past the slight twinge of pain in his side as his shield slammed across the halberd's length, pushing it to the side to exploit an opening in his defense. Capitalizing on this he swung the ball down, crashing it with a mighty crack into his opponents collarbone, hearing a resounding snap as the guard went down like a pile of bricks. He looked at the other guard, spinning the ball and chain above his head and joining in the howl, hoping to give Mikel an opening, but he wasn't quite sure it worked. The plan was working, no doubt about it, but they had on last push before they could call themselves heroes.

OOC: isnt the gatehouse 6 yards away by this point?
Mikels moved up 5 yards twice, just to use him as an indicator of movement.

That's not possible because the block is removed at the end of the round.

CD: 15 (12) AR: 6 Health: 4/12 Movement: 5/20 I/W/F: 0/0/0 LA 1: CA P3-TToTWS Turn 13: Cautious Attack (Talented, Superior B. Sword): 7d6k4+2 20 3 DoSx7 dmg=21-7=14 dmg Mikel barely pulled his sword free and brought it up in time to check the halberd as it came down. Managing to break its speed just enough not to cleave him open, and step to the side to save his head, the halberds head smashed down on his shoulder, the padding saving him some but not enough to keep pain from racing throughout his arm then suddenly going numb. Mikel then plunged the point of his sword through the mail and padding the guard wore, sending the tip deep into the mans groin and pushing his weight in top of it as he fell screaming. OOC: posting to keep things going, if i had my book with me id of searched for a better use for the LA Im throwing away. Wasnt there something cunning related that would give an edge to the next attack, or it cant be seperated by a turn pike it would be?

Acting quickly enough to avoid being overwhelmed, Mikel and Robyn fights their way through to the gatehouse, odds are that the going will only get tougher.
Let's see, I think the most sensible thing Mikel can do right now is an aim action. Response: 1d4-1 0 No reinforcements, lone guard retreats into the Gatehouse abandoning his block, which should shift us into taking the gatehouse (with presumed double-moves to Reach the gatehouse from Mikel and Robyn).

Robyn will use his actions to get to the gatehouse

Robyn looks at Mikel, giving him a smile, "Im going to go for the gate, try to get that bar off. You can join me there or watch my back with that sword of yours while we do some heavy lifting," he places his hand on his shoulder, "Either way, we are going to do this thanks to you,"
